My joy at finding this site yesterday was tempered somewhat reading some of the posts from last night re: the HP/AOL merger. Like most of us here. I disliked the current state of the posting process at HP, and noticed the overall tone of the site drifting rightward, but I still appreciated that we at least had a left leaning blog/news source with such a large number of users. Arriana has her faults undoubtedly, but she’s not Roger Ailies FFS. I see no reason to waste our time trying to think up cute ways to call her a media whore. Go back to 2005 and remind me what we had available forum wise? As for the HP/AOL merger itself, and AH becoming the media overlord of that new enterprise – what’s so friggin’ awful about a left leaning mega news-source/blog/forum finding an even larger audience? One the biggest problems we liberal progressives have is getting our message out in the face of a r/w dominated media landscape. Hell, I’d settle for a centrist mega media outlet at this point. When I was a young firebrand I saw things in black and white, hell I can remember yelling at my own father “love? you don’t even know the meaning of the word” but I’m older now, and appreciate some of the shades of grey as well. As this wonderful site becomes even more popular (as it well should) the admins here will undoubtedly face some of the same problems the moderators at HP faced, so how about if we temper our rants, keep things civil, and let the assholes over at Drudge think up the expletives to call their enemies. » Posted By zootliberal On February 8, 2011 @ 9:18 am Couldn’t agree more, O’Reilly can barely stand to share the spotlight with anyone, even with the President of the United States for christ’s sake. A good interviewer knows what questions to ask, listens to and parses the answer to be able to ask a relevant follow up question. Bill does none of that. I couldn’t stomach watching he whole interview, but the portion I watched at least Obama held his cool and his ground well.
