Who doesn’t want a good laugh in the morning! Today is Australia Day, Mon. Jan 26, when the first settlers landed in Sydney Cove, or as the original owners say, they invaded. So what does this large pimple in the arse end of the Pacific do? Our low-rating Prime Minister gives a Knighthood to……. The Queen’s husband, the Duke of Edinburgh!!!
Now, Prince Philip seems to me to have quite enough honors to go around, so this must seem like giving a bicycle to a Bentley owner! God Help us!

You’re right, Nirek. And another thing – The balls, after a quarter or two are scattered all over the pitch, some on the Colts side and colt’s balls on the Pat’s side, so it’s all a load of sour grapes.

Utter legends who first were Cliff Richard’s backing band, but went on to make many, many hits of their own.

I’m not in the least surprised,Nirek. The GOPTP have abrogated every vestige of morality and honor and this is just the latest example. They are in politics just for themselves and think they are both above the law and feel entitled to do anything at all, even if they get caught. I’m sure that many of them are felons, except they’re not yet convicted. I think it utterly stupid that he won’t be sentenced until next June. Ridiculous. They should seize his pay and entitlements to repay the taxes evaded, THEN throw his sorry ass into the slammer. I hope that the MSM keep rerunning his attacking the reporter on Capital Hill. Odious cretin. I’m steaming!

A great Loss, Kalima. I saw him in the late ’70s in Melbourne and was a fan ever since. The fact that I’d inhaled half a Buddha stick before probably had something to do with it!. Then again, so had he!
I still reckon the partnerships with Leon Russell were the highlight of his career with ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen’.

Nirek, we’re fine here in Melbourne, approx 500 miles south of Sydney. But the security is up in case of copycats. One thing which has shone out is the outreach of people to Muslims here. They are not branding them with the same iron as the queer fella. There is a Tweet/Twitter/somethingorother #Illridewith you, where people are helping each other get home from Sydney City and picking up anybody, whether in Islamic attire or not. That says something. 40 Muslim Community leaders have condemned the action of the hostage taker and are helping the negotiators. It’s nearly midnight here and 15 hours in, but no results yet. Nor has there been anyone hurt, so the negotiators are playing it slowly and carefully. Here’s hoping it all finishes well for everybody.
Salaam Alaikum. Shalom. Peace.

Bloody typical! Boehner declares ‘Emperor Obama’ is sabotaging Congress!

Love this:
A spokesman for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was quick to fire back.

“Speaker Boehner has led some of the most obstructive, unproductive and self-destructive Congresses in the history of our nation,” said Drew Hammill in a statement. “Today, in the face of real leadership from the president, Speaker Boehner announced he will continue to surrender his gavel to the most radical and irresponsible anti-immigrant voices of his party.”

“Republicans have a choice: act productively on immigration, or waste taxpayer dollars on yet another legal vendetta against President Obama or Republican Government Shutdown,” he added. “President Obama has announced strong actions to restore accountability to our broken immigration system. Republicans continue to scramble for excuses for their own failure of leadership.”

Couldn’t put it better myself.

My favorite team, the Washington Redskins are finally changing their name. They will be known as the Delaware Redskins because of their disgust at what’s happening in Washington!

Many, many thanks, Kalima for your comforting words, and thank you all of my Planet Family. I am unable to be part of saying farewell to my brother, but my other brothers are handling everything as they are in England and will travel.

Many earthquakes and aftershocks in Kansas. A bit of a worry, that, because, isn’t that where the Keystone Pipeline will be laid through? Lovely thought, isn’t it? Of course the Oil Industry will spin that the pipeline is earthquake proof. Yeah, right.

Rollup! Roll up! Introducing to your disbelieving eyes the awesome, the mighty Dempublican! It is the weirdest creature you have ever set eyes upon. Look with amazement as it speaks in tongues, forked ones at that, and out of both sides of their mouths at the same time!. Marvel at the feeding frenzy as it dives it’s many loathsome mouths into the specially fattened and cunningly disguised barrels of Pork. Be amazed at its ability to turn its coat to the shade required by their Keepers. It has multiple swiveling eyes that can look up to find the arses of those who need licking, and at the same time look down on those who pay their salaries. The Dempublican has varied sexual urges, which they will unashamedly display as time goes on. They supposedly value monogamy, yet will shag anything that moves, whether Male, Female or Convertible. And, because it is not quite Human, the Dempublican is outside the Law, understandable due to their uncanny inability to make any. The Dempublican knows only One God, the appropriately named Filthy Lucre, whose acolytes ( appropriately called either Cocks or Dicks) dispense FL’s graces literally everywhere. There is hope that this hybrid will live only about 2 more years, but some have been known to last up to half a Century.

So Roll up! Roll Up!

I, for one, am very impressed at the restraint of the captors. It could have been so easy to report that he was ‘shot while attempting to escape”. I hope that this coward gets little or no publicity from now on. Any hype surrounding him is an insult to the officers shot in the incident.

What is the best way to advertise your airline?
Over a Football stadium of 100,000 watching the equivalent of the Superbowl in Melbourne, Australia including Government Ministers and the usual squillionaires?
Especially with a High Terrorist Alert and extensive police and SWAT presence at the game?
And, BTW, you haven’t told anybody at the Game?

Just this!

Kalima, thank you for mentioning it here. I know it is a long video, but the similarities to what’s happening today with voter disenfranchisement are stark. It sure seems that the Long March To Freedom is still going, 50 years later.

Edit: the Voter section begins at about 58: 05
