The Death of “A Good Guy With A Gun”

everyone is a good guy with a gun — until they aren’t.

registration of a gun and licensing for a person needs to occur. licensing would require proof that you have passed a class. the class would include safety, proficiency and knowledge of the latest laws/regulations (local and national). CE classes should be mandatory. licensing should be renewed periodically. Much like a vehicle, except more onerous.

you would not be able to buy ammo or accessories w/o your registration and then only for that weapon registered.

registration and licensing fees would only be high enough to cover the administrative and overhead costs – no profit. part of those fees should be for the establishment and maintenance of a national mental health data base.

if you can’t afford these fees, then maybe you could start cutting back on your living expenses. lets start with your membership to the NRA.

thank you both for your service and i am sorry you had to endure what you did.

i lost my father in laos in 1968. he was career AF. his last year at home was fraught w/parental arguments about the war and his duty (nation/career/family). not sure how much i would have traded to have him home.

i’m generally very quiet and forgiving on this topic. it’s impossible to imagine what people have to live through, and with, in these situations. the decisions they make and the actions they take are not for me to judge.

i wish you both, as well as Sgt. Bergdahl and his family , the best.

i feel bad for this man. he’s going to be kicked around quite a bit when he gets home. and to attack his parents? omg. my stomach is turning.

no one believes we don’t negotiate, break the law, torture during war. history is so clear on this. war is not a game w/rules that everyone expects to follow. it is an ugly, nasty, complicated endeavor.

and apparently, the political pundits are becoming just as ugly and nasty. question/attack the president. leave the poor man to the military justice system. hands off – HANDS OFF – the family!
