It sickens me how much venom some in the rightwing have set aside specifically for the FLOTUS. All the hullabaloo over her tackling childhood obesity is ridiculous. Fist of all, obesity IS a big problem nowadays. When I was in school, there was perhaps one overweight child in my grade each year… and I grew up in Trenton, NJ so the class sizes weren’t exactly small. Now overweight children are more or less the norm.

As for the whole “nanny state” argument, it isn’t as though she is the first First Lady to have a pet cause involving children. With Baraba Bush it was illiteracy. With Nancy Reagan it was “just say no”. I don’t recall anybody making a stink over it being “big government” intrusion back then. Why is it such a big deal now?

I hate to say this, but I think what they are really offended about has absolutely nothing to do with the validity of her cause or that she is doing what so many First Ladies have done by tackling a pet project.

You know, I don’t give a rat’s shiny hiney what people do in their personal lives… but I cannot stand hypocrisy.

R’s love to campaign on so-called “family values”… holding themselves and their personal religious beliefs up on some sort of pedestal and look down their noses at people who just want to live their lives with the same dignity afforded everyone else.

They do this, while at the same time they are secretly frequenting airport bathrooms or putting pictures of themselves on Craigslist?

Puh-lease.

Now his career is over but, on the bright side, his NRA score is bound to go up after they get a look at those guns. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks! To both you and Bito. Sometimes it’s hard fr this old dog to learn new tricks, but I’m going to give it my best.

So far, this looks like a really friendly place… what’s this strange feeling?

I’m happy! ๐Ÿ˜€

Yes. Finally. It’s great to see so many familiar faces… that really helps me smooth over the new blog jitters.

There are quite a few over there who really get tiresome.

True. But there were some who were very amusing too (at least to me). I enjoyed Spiffy quite a bit, he made me laugh.

Wow! Looks like a HP greatest hits reunion tour in here! I’ve been pretty fed up with them for some time but I kept coming back for more…

This is the first I’ve heard of PlanetPOV, anyone have any tips for a newb? Like how to add an avi, for instance?

Peace, y’all.

Thanks!

You know, people make a lot out of how cool-headed our POTUS is and it is true… he certainly lives up to the “no drama Obama” nickname.

BUT, I’ll bet when he does get angry that it’s scary as hell. I’ve known people like that and he just strikes me as one of them.

Sorry, I have to try this out and see if I have it right… (I’m such a newb)

This is a great triumph for the Egyptian people! I love that they proved to us all that it can be done without guns or violence.

Now let’s hope they are permitted to build a government of their own without too much interference.

Morning Blog

Good morning, Redemption! It’s nice here too… not very sunny but quite warm and the birds are happily chirping away outside my computer room window. They love to flock in my forsythia bushes… probably because I keep a fully stocked bird feeder there all year long. Just lovely, but no crocuses yet. I give it another couple weeks.

Enjoy your peace and quiet! I know how hard that is to come by when you have little ones. ๐Ÿ™‚

Time Out for O/T – Vol. 15

Hopefully I will see you later! I’ve got a full plate and will be on and off today. Wishing you a great day!

BDM, thanks for the article. I thought Rachel did a good job covering this on her show last night too. Aside from her and possibly Ed (who I don’t watch but who I understand is there in WI covering this), the MSM is missing the point IMO.

This isn’t about labor being greedy… on the contrary, I’m confident they would have agreed to much of what is in the bill if it were to benefit the greater good.

No, this is more about busting up political opponents and using their blood, sweat and tears to essentially pay off political allies and it’s also about the heavy-handed way Gov. Walker went about doing it.

Hell yeah, ADONAI! I remember jumping out of my seat when that happened… and the crows. Man, they always freaked me out.

Gamer geek reminiscing, lol.

That trailer really was disturbingly beautiful. Do you know offhand what platform(s) they’re releasing the game on?

Truth – Me too… Plouffe is some sort of a political savant, something the WH has seriously needed these last couple of years.

Worst. Vacation. Ever.

Hehehe

You’re right about the artistry that goes into video games. Some of them are really very stunning… the Final Fantasy series comes to mind (I’m a big fan of the RPGs).

Even before graphics became as smooth as they are today, so much went into the storyline on many of the video games. Remember the original Resident Evil? There were three or four different ways to play that game depending on the character you chose and how you played. I never did finish that one… it scared my little girl.

Now I want to break it out and try again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Buddy! I’ve been thinking about subscribing to The Nation for some time and today I received an invite for 4 free issues & $20 for 26 weeks. I think I’m going to do it… I love old school “ink-and-paper” and I have long admired many of their contributors.

@Truth

The beauty of this is that the Rs (and House Rs in particular) will have a lot of difficulty defending themselves from this as,

a: Their entire legislative agenda has thus far been more about fulfilling some conservative social policy wish list and

b: The leader of their party recently proclaimed that if job losses were the result of their policies then “So be it”.

It’s nice to see the Dems practicing a little politics (for a change).

Stupid question alert: Where is the “action” tab? Is it the same as the “take action” tab at the top of the page? I am having difficulty seeing the drop down menu on that one. The video of “The First Obama – Palin Debate” is covering it up.

Who’s a cute little totalitarian dictator? You are! Yes you are! ๐Ÿ˜€

» Posted By liberallioness76 On February 16, 2011 @ 1:15 pm

The FLOTUS is waaay out Bachmann’s league.

I said it before when Palin was critising Mrs. Obama (quite unjustly) for being a crusader in trying to tackle childhood obesity. The FLOTUS is the epitome of class and that broad is the embodiment of crass.

One little letter makes all the difference.

escribacat – Thanks for posting this and the links, I have been taking a break from the news for the last few days and had not heard about it.

It’s sad, sickening & disturbing on so many levels. The act itself, the political climate that encourages it (to some extent), the MSM dropping the ball on reporting it.

ARGGGHHH! This is why I needed a friggin break in the first place.
