Cyrano, I went over there today and was just floored. The site I used to go to religiously no longer seems to exist. Same layout, but content is all gone. Even the pretext of centrist is gone. She’s going to end up with it being another Fox.

Kind of like when I took my kids on a long drive in the car when they were younger. I’d stop, unbuckle them and off they’d go. They would run around like mad for about ten minutes then we could go for longer slower walks. Know the feeling. I’ve been on hyper drive the last week. HP shut me down so hard I was damn near mute when I came in here. And I don’t think those sentences I did write contained all the proper spelling. How freaking ridiculous was that? I get mad at my kids when they TM me in code and here I was using it at HP.

Yes Fi, your fan count drops when someone who fanned you leaves. Mine went down about 15 in three days. They were all over here when I landed. You may find the same dynamics.

That was FAKE? I thought HP was open and transparent. I’m sure there must be an unmodded story there where people can talk about the losses they have in their fan base and WTF is happening to their progressive slanted website

The whole HP thing has turned into a sort of embarrassing moment for me. It was a week ago today when I turned my queasy stomach over to my fingers and started searching from a link posted on HP for a new home. My first step was Alternet but after registering and poking around I was left feeling a little lonely. Second stop was here and I signed on and went in and saw familiar names and made myself comfie. It must have been a hell of a week for the people already here – would the lifeboat be big enough if a large percentage of the disaffected and homeless came on board? Would you lose the treasure of knowing so many other posters so well? Would the message boards swamp? All things for you all to have to consider. Then it happened and I was simply astonished that not only could we post here you actually were glad to see us? WTF was that about? Then the good people here formed a site to go and post our angst and anger, helped us get settled, what a gift.

I have still not gotten banned although I go back daily and post something about PPOV.

Today I went over and I actually spent some time looking around. And what I saw was simply depressing. If there ever was a pretext about being a progressive site it is now gone. The primary story is anti-POTUS. The stories on the “political” site are almost entirely oriented to the right.

What the fuck? Was that really as much of a coup as it seems or were we all slowly sucked to the right? Forced to pick through a large number of stories to find something that didn’t make us gag? I saw nothing there today of any interest at all. Can that really be the results of a week?

And what of our friends who remain? How must they feel when they’ve gone from a position of being in the majority to fighting for liberal/progressive thought from a smaller and smaller base of support for each other.

I’m not going back, but I do feel for those who are left, those who worked hard to grow a fan base, to share with friends. They must be feeling very, very spooked. And then Zoot lays this out, and others chime in and I am left wondering what it was that ever appealed to me. I am sure there are other posters here who were they far longer than me who must be really perplexed.

Blathering is my response when I’m puzzled. And I am puzzled. I did post one thing today and it went into moderation. Sigh …..

I was over there last night and saw a post from a couple of days ago where you were expressing concerns about staying. I browsed that page and it was remarkable to see how many of the people I’d fanned were gone. I also saw where many of you were talking about losing fans and the numbers, while seemingly smaller than their fan base, were serious because I think most of us fanned the largest contributors. Hope you find what you want here.
