Zoot, I’ll give it a shot. I saw Beach Chick, Palmz, Hito, coveark and Strangelove on one thread. Down to three swords when Strangelove came in and let Hito go to the bathroom (her words). They were mostly surrounded by a seemingly endless array of righties. A few light swinging progressives were chiming in and getting pasted into silence. The righties were screaming about the mods so I can only guess what they weren’t getting through because what was getting there was bad stuff. The example you cited was funny because their saying they were a progressive dem they screwed up (almost wrote scrued – haha) by saying they were a Reagan lover on their profile and got busted. How can they stand themselves?

Anyway, I’ll go back over and see what I can do to find the above names unmoderated

It’s pretty grim. Those that are left are being assaulted. I envy them their staying power but not enough to come riding in like white knight. That’s their choice and I have to respect it

Was just there chatting at Palmz. He was on a thread about the budget cut, yours too eh?

I was astonished, my anger got the better of me so I took some shots and felt the old anger. Mostly I was talking to Palmz, Beach Chick, and Coinyer. Asked them if they were tired of it but they all seem committed. God love em. They are better than me.

Yeah I get that. I went there yesterday and listed out the articles on the pol page. like 20:2 of republican to democrat and the two democrat ones were negative.

The comments from the right posters sounded like bravado, sore “winners”

Read several posts over there from “old timers” who stayed so the progressive view would still be there when “we” came back. To each their own I suppose.

I love this place, gradually we are all coming to our own resolution and I’m seeing more posts on other thoughts than this. We’ll all get there and more importantly we’ll rally around the new people who are still coming on.

I went back yesterday and read something that outraged me and I posted. Yeah, I know, like a drunk breaking twenty years of sobriety. I got four replies, three were horrible snarks, the last just another dude writing me. I wasn’t “hurt” no one noticed I was back but it was a smack in the face to go there and be unnoticed when here, good grief, our cheerleaders beat the Dallas Cowboys hands down.

I agree completely. I know there was one group who suddenly appeared with similar names, or at least a name plus numbers. Low fan counts too. Someone pointed out they were paid trolls and I thought until yesterday they were from the right wing blogs, now I agree with the other suggestion. They were paid by AH to drive clicks and inflame us even more

Themselves I fear. I know a couple of people talk about how much work they put into it, their fans, badges etc. I guess that’s more important than freedom? I won’t be critical of their decision. They can come here as they like. Last night and again today there was another flurry of newcomers from over there. I am of the opinion you can fight and spar and gradually you get worn down. The exodus may accelerate simply because they are fighting back with a smaller and smaller group. Before they had many of the posters here taking turns on different threads to defend a progressive position. Now their numbers are reduced and I think they will wear out. I don’t mean that badly, just once the tide has turned and you lose mass you tend to lose more mass.

Same for conservatives I suspect. I haven’t asked yet, but I might. I would like to know how the new conservatively oriented posters here felt about it. I mean the snark and snaps they endured. Once I was aroused I didn’t care who it was that posted I yelled back.

So now their friends and fans are reduced and that means they bear more of the weight against an increased number of trolls.

I suspect we’ll continue to see newcomers over here as they wear down.

And like it’s been the last week, they will be welcomed like we all were. And no one is going to ask them WTF took so long 🙂

Coinyer was the dude I could go talk 70’s weed talk with, among other things. I like him a lot. Guess my point is I’ve talked to two or three people “over there” who are staying because the format fits them better than here. I guess if I can survive here with my mumbo jumbo I think anyone can. But that’s not up to me.

No shit, they set us on each other. I will never forgive that. There’s one thing to disagree and another to urge and manipulate us into a fight with trolls and dishonest headlines and stories. We can disagree but as Penner has pointed out, we should find what we agree on and work from there. Not saying we avoid disagreements but that we find some common ground and work to the edges instead of putting our uncommon ground as our foundation. That won’t work at all.

I would get really demoralized about POTUS. It never occurred to me a so-called progressive site would actually be trying to defame the President. Call me stupid or maybe simply naive. It finally dawned on me and that was another nail in the coffin. I know Abby, you yelled at me once for being negative about POTUS, it was one of the first times I really thought about it – how AH might actually be the enemy. Live and learn.

I can’t speak for him. I do wonder if there are people with high fan counts who stay there because they like the format of short, snappy comments. It’s really hard to come here and actually write a full thought – I struggle with it a lot whereas at HP I could fire off a fifty or sixty word missive and be fine. Over here there are a shitload of eloquent people and it’s a little intimidating to try to say something in full sentences. Some might think this is too hard and they are really there for the quick hits and retorts. If that suits them then I wish them well. If they want to come here and do the same, they can come here as well. There are plenty of short posts here, just every now and again someone goes off on a mission (used to be a rant but not so much here) and I learn more about them, mostly because I don’t have to wade through the codes.

Sabreen, I saw that too. I can’t believe I missed them in two years but then again I wasn’t on a lot of threads much. Stuff like Entertainment and Comedy. And the links on the lower bar. I really was just there for Front Page, Politics and Media. These folks may have been elsewhere and now that the key threads are more open they wandered over?

I saw that a few times, going to sound sexist here – most of the ones that really grated me were the women who had avatars that showed an attractive side. I remember more than once diving in and telling people to eff off and leave someone alone. And I recall several times reading someone threatening to call out a stalker.

Then I got stalked twice after the elections. Some dudes who just wouldn’t let go of their idiotic snark. One guy/gal followed me around for about four days, the last one being my last day. I reported it – maybe that’s a better term anyway. Never heard anything back naturally. I did note two days ago it was there again, dredging up some old post to tear at me. What is wrong with people?

Hey AZ Annie. Nice of you to stop by. I saw that change in the flag as well but not having a mod button I could only sit on the sideline and watch as it unfolded. It was one of the many nails in the coffin for me at HP.

The trolls getting control of the mod and delete keys makes sense as I noted an increase in seemingly innocent comments of mine that were flagged and deleted. Now it makes sense

Hope to keep seeing you around. A lot of my favorite posters are here now and I’m kind of getting settled

I was there this morning and got pissed all over again, like talking to my ex. Sheesh

I read something and couldn’t resist. The comments were filled with right trolls and I tossed my two cents in. Got five replies, one of which made it. I would write the guy back but there’s an edginess even to our progressive brothers and sisters and I just don’t want to dirty myself again.

I can’t tell the progressives from the other guys. Everyone seems like they’re on pin and needles.
