I think it was called ‘No One Gets Out Alive’. That book circulated among our family and friends and every Christmas while our daughter was still with us, we always played The Doors. There was one year when I said that we were going to play The Doors Christmas Album, and our daughter – LOL – she was – “really”? My father played guitar, and he played besides regular guitar, he played Hawaiian Guitar. I have his picks, his slides, and his original Rickenbacker guitar and amp – silver, stainless steel guitar (silver Hawaiian if you want to google it) , original steel strings and the amp with the cloth-covered cord and it all still plays. Also have all his sheet music and we actually sold a few sheets – my dad paid a nickle or dime during WWII for the sheet music, but we sold 2 for 12 bucks each! I also have my father’s diplomas from a guitar class that he took while stationed in Hawaii and they are tied with the original ribbons and I so treasure them. I play guitar and my father taught me on his Hawaiian first, and I still have my original picks, and my gosh, how small my fingers were! My dad was a tool and die maker and he made me my own slide, too! That fit my small hand. I learned to play before Kindergarten and then as I grew older, I learned to play regular acoustic guitar, and I still play to this day and my husband also plays acoustic guitar, and when our daughter was alive, we taught her, and it’s a great hobby that has provided us years and years of healthy entertainment! Johnny Cash was the man. Remember when he had a show on the TV? I’ve grown to appreciate him more since he’s been gone and wonder why that is – I think I brushed him off in my younger years, thinking he wasn’t “hip” and that’s a mistake of youth. Watched a show about Cash on PBS and saw this and realized what I missed by being young and dumb –

Over the next two months our troops in Iraq–tens of thousands of them–will pack up their gear and board convoys for the journey home.” Obama affirmed that he has been in talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and that the Iraqi government suported the American withdrawal. “We are in full agreement about how to move forward,” Obama said said. Although it was extended several times, the timeline for withdrawal was originally drafted under former President George W. Bush and was a key campaign promise for Obama when he was running for president in 2007 and 2008. The military will keep about 160 servicemen and women in Baghdad to provide security for the embassy there.
