And then to be held in customs? When my husband and I flew to France, we brought over 2 cats and a dog, and it wasn’t a problem at all. We went through all that, but when we landed in Paris, all we had to show were our passports, and they asked for nothing when it came to our beloved pets. I had carry-on luggage that included litter, a small litter box, dog and cat food and bowls. The minute we got our animals, we released the dog and placed him on a leash, and walked outside Charles de Gaulle airport, so he could pee, and then drink water and eat. The cats were cool. It was a trip, and I would so love to tell it, but we’ve never been able to tell it, because people, even our family and friends, think we are bragging. Do you know what I mean? We had the worst of times and best of times, but unless we talk with those that were there with us, no one wants to hear it. It was a culture shock and we overcame it all, and sadly, by the time we finally overcame it all, we had to come home. I’m tempted to write about it all, but it turns people off. Sigh. But we were Americans living in Paris with limited French. Je ne parle pas Francais, je ne comprehend pas Francais, became my motto, and I said it quite well. By the end though, in the ville we lived, the French were beeping their horns as they drove by, or greeting us with “Allo” when we walked. We even were invited to parties, and they sent invitations to us in English, even though their English was bad, but we had been accepted. It got to a point whereby French people would stop and ask us for directions, and I answered them in English. I like what some people are saying – in that this will be the closest to a Super Bowl that Tebow will get, so let him have his few seconds of deceit.

I’ll send an occasional card, and if I do not hear back, well, my heart and spirit cannot be broken any worse than what it is already.
I just don’t get it.
My brother that died in December, well, he and I were estranged, and it was his doing and not mine.
I love him, as I love all my brothers, and I love my brothers unconditionally.
Seems my brothers have conditions on their love when it comes to me and each other.
Anyway, my brother that died, his partner had a memorial and didn’t tell me, so I heard about it from a cousin, and that really hurt.
Then again, I am so used to my brothers hurting me, but that, when my brother died and his partner not telling me about his memorial cut very deep and hurt me more than words can ever express.
So, my husband, unbeknown to me, made a donation through the Red Cross for Haiti in my brother’s name and through them, they sent an email to Lee that told him that we made a donation in my brother’s name.
I cried when my husband told he’d done that, as it meant so much to me.
Lee sent us a thank you and the most wonderful packet from my brother’s service and for that I am so forever grateful.
Lee gave my brother a good send off and there were over 140 people attended the service.
I’m sort of in a quandary now, because I know how much Lee is hurting from losing my brother, but he was the main reason my brother disowned me.
I’ve always loved Lee, too, but he, I don’t know.
I still want to know what it is that I ever did or said to make them hate me so much.
I’m thinking after the package about my brother’s memorial, should I send Lee another card and an occasional letter, or does he hate me so much that he never wants to hear from me again?
If anyone reads this, I’d sure appreciate your opinion.

We had to get approved by the USDA, and it was a nightmare with the paperwork, but France didn’t have a quarantine for animals.
They didn’t act fazed by a 10-1/2 hour airplane ride.
From learning the subways and trains, and buying groceries, or asking for directions knowing limited French.
And then getting mail and it was all in French, or opening a bank account, and how different their banks are compared to here.
And then when the phone would ring, and that was a trip.
I understood them, but for some reason did not compute in my brain that I should speak to them in French.
