It’s a cumulative stratagem, I’m sure, Abbyrose.
A little of this (creating clicks) and a little of that (creative headlines) add a dash of this (free blogging from celebrities) and a spat of that (aggregated news) and before you know it, you can fluff those numbers anyway you like. Then sell and make a fortune.

KevinSeven, let me begin by saying that while our individual opinions differ greatly on this subject, there is no valid indication that yours are any less worthy than my own or anyone else.
That said,I have only given your article a precursory read. I look forward to us having a more substantial conversation when the time presents itself for me to read it line for line. I hope when that time comes we can posses the courtesy and civility to discuss it.
I’ll be looking forward to that prospect.
Finally (for the moment) thanks for coming forth and presenting your case. It was pretty ballsy to do so knowing the controversy surrounding it.
Ballsy is good when it leads to people learning from each other the prospective of one another.
(Well, that’s my opinion, anyway.)

The Daily Planet, Vol. 31

Pawlenty has about a snowball’s chance in hell to win the primaries or the presidency and his announcing the attempt should be an after shock for initiating some real campaign reform on the federal level.
Regardless of his chances in the upcoming election, he will be entitled to federal money for his war chest afterward. It’s an act of using this money now for creating the necessary future name recognition to secure his toe hold on a career in US politics and has little (realistic) purpose for 2012.
At a time when this money could be put to better use on the needs of the people of this country even if for nothing more than managing the deficit (rather than cutting social programs and spending to do so) is it really in the best interests of the tax payer to fund the campaign bids of any politician running for office, let alone the “also rans” who continually throw their hat in the ring for all together different purposes than achieving the office they claim to be seeking?
But of course, who actually gets to vote on campaign reform?
Yeah…the very people who like things just the way they are.
So much for the people having a voice in government and laws of the land.
It really doesn’t work that way.

I’m new to this Planet, but I have to tell you Cher, I’m beginning to look to your Daily Planet as a starting point for my news in the morning. It’s great to have the consistency you bring to your ‘Daily’…and you do have a heap o’ ‘stuff’ to share. A plethora of points of interest and current events that leaves me wondering “what the hell am I bringing to this picnic”?
OK..the gushing is over. Just wanted (as a newbie) to let you know that your (what has to be) hard work is much appreciated.

See? This is why I rarely mention, “correct me if I’m wrong!”.
First it’s even more of a rarity that people wouldn’t do it anyway…and secondly, I’m wrong often enough that not saying it saves time in a conversation.
But thanks, Abby…that “Al Capp” could have come out of my mouth anywhere at any time…and it would have been a whole lot more embarrassing for me under those circumstances!
And no…I wasn’t being picky…I was associating freely…Honest! 🙂

This world is full of both flowers and weeds.
While some weeds look like flowers, some flowers look a lot like weeds.
Don’t put anything in a vase on your kitchen table that you don’t want to have dinner over.
The same goes with the sort of people you choose to get into things with.
I’m not saying only talk to those that would agree. I’m merely suggesting a little more selectivity regarding the company you keep on line.
And if someone takes a shot at you or your ideology on any given topic, don’t take the ride and wait for the next bus.
Can I use any more mixed metaphors???
You bet, but I’ll spare you. 🙂

Considering that whatever is under criticism is already an irritant, looking at this is like doing math with negative integers.
Personally I agree that this digital approach to discourse (oppositional or supportive) using the either/or of 1s or 0s is prohibitive of intelligent exchange, no matter what the subject. Beyond that…criticism (imo) becomes detrimental when personal, inflammatory remarks take the place of the contribution of thoughtful counterpoint.
I think I have to look for you more often, here. We may have more in common conversationally than I perhaps thought prior to this.
And as far as “Quislings” goes, I haven’t had a good Quisling since they closed down that chain of sub shops. Man, I used to love the prime rib and pepper one! And the condiments bar was stocked! Or was that Quisno’s? 😀

Everybody as a couple of fixations of some sort or another.
Besides it’s not our fixations that get us into trouble…it’s our confusing whether they should be limited to internal dialog or external dialog that trips people up.
How boring would any of us be without a few minor rough spots to our character?
But maybe I’m getting ahead of myself….I never asked if perhaps you have a tail?

No offense intended to anyone, truly, (and Cher, you should know I love you already here on the Planet and thought you were often spot on at that other site) but strictly from a point of the principles of social discourse, I find anyone who reduces an intellectual political conversation or exchange of ideas into an opportunity to bring into question the quantitative qualities of the sex organ of their opposition runs a close parallel to street fighting with brass knuckles in a sanctioned match which was meant and agreed to be limited to the rules of Queensbury.
But then again, if the use of polysyllables is an indicator of either a small or ineffectual sexual apparatus when political ideologies are at contrast diametrically, I suppose I and everyone else here suffers from this short coming (pun intended).
And if the use of sports metaphors is an included offense, I must have a doubly diminutive tool…Gawd…I hope not!

While it must be admitted that Presidents and kings are aided in the dissemination of information and misinformation in this day and age of instant (and often) indiscriminate mass communication, this is a very (surprisingly) even handed article and (for me) a well written and enjoyable read.

And if I weren’t inclined to believe that the ebb and flow of political power in America was not a prearranged affair that passes between the parties like a rugby ball while the people who fill the stands believe whole heartedly that there are two rugby teams on the field…when in fact it’s simply two uniforms worn by one team that shares the locker room, I could easily see how it appears on the surface that DNC is contributing to their own self destruct sequence.
Barring my preferred and preconceived notion, which is as possibly wrong as it may be right, this article makes it’s case strongly enough to make this scenario extremely credible and equally possible.
Well done, Marion! Very well done.
The hardest audience surely must be those who are not on board to begin with. But I could take this ride (almost) as easily as my own with no pangs of conscience, it was that good.
I will certainly be looking for more of your writing.

If it’s any consolation, it’s a classic retelling of an old story that no one can truly verify in part or in whole.
Know what?…If my kids were still little and not in college and asked me about Jesus…I’d read this to them.
