Mid West is cool, Cher.
Looking at maybe a little more rain tonight and into tomorrow…snow (to some extent)the day after.
Between now and the end of the thaw, the lower areas like the Red River Valley and the farm land may have to start sand bagging, but that’s fairly typical each year going into spring.
I don’t know if it’s a matter of infrastructure. It might have more to do with the fact that the land out here is as flat as a road kill and there’s miles and miles of it to soak it all in.

Unfortunately Auntie…Wall Street bankers never find themselves in court facing such an indictment.
As long as there’s the occasional Madoff or Petters available for the occasional side show, these people are not accountable to the courts.
The new minimum penalty will not indicate or involve them.
The Wall Street bankers will, with the rare and occasional exception never be subject to this or oh so many other similar laws.

Thoughts have energy and power. Words have energy and power even in opposition to people and things.
If we choose to spend them in breathing life into the spectral existence of people who are lifted and supported by those like them to represent even our lesser collective qualities we are contributing (on some level)the necessary power and energies to perpetuate their viability and substance on a very real negatively physical level as much as those who support them and lift them up to make them visible in the first place.
Just a thought…a personal observation that can only make any sense at all to those inclined to think that way to begin with, I’m sure.

When is the last time we saw a political creation or media darling actually take on a cause that had any potentially, genuine weight or consequence for which they might have to answer for?
It’s always the hot button, the talking point, the knee jerk, the attention grabber and the sensational facade rather than the real issues.
They exist due to stimulating the beast known as the crowd.
If everyone would just find something to do besides SP (and those fluffy, irritant personalities like her)…she would by necessity, dissipate into thin air.
Of course in reality, she just keeps getting larger than life with every well intended post and nightly news item either for or against her.
What we need for these sort of press lampreys is an exorcist.

Have you considered that in view of the yield in clicks and video advertising that it’s in the best interest of the media to perhaps be contributing in one fashion or another to the ‘interest’ in SP?
Then again, for the value her cavorting has in muddying the political waters and creating a peripheral distraction, the GOP would also have much to gain through the constant ‘news’ activity surrounding SP’s continual presence in the public eye.
Both the media interests and the political interests have a myriad of avenues to fund any distraction they like, whenever they like and in whatever way they like.
And I know you’re clever enough to know that (and more) Abby…so perhaps I should have just taken your question as rhetorical and not explained the obvious and and the known.
But hey…I got a little time on my hands this morning.

Remember those moments when we were kids waiting in line forever or so to get on the next ride at the amusement park, carnival or fair and we didn’t even notice the wait, because we were totally absorbed in watching the joy in the faces of the other people already on the ride and we were practically living through them for the duration?
All we could think of was the ride and the fact that we were going to be on that ride and we we going to have so much fun… and how shortly we would be just as happy as all those people already on the ride, to the extent that time being spent in those lines was over shadowed by our own high frequency anticipation and how cool it was going to be when we got to go on the ride? And all that standing in line became a little fun too, because in our own mind’s eye even in line we were already on that ride and loving every minute of it.
Yeah, life is kinda like that day at that park.
Everything it seems is just a succession of either waiting in line or being on the ride.
If you focus on being in line, it can be a real drag. But if you can keep your focus on the ride itself and what you’re actually standing in line for and looking forward to, it can all be transformed into a very magical experience void of all restraints of time and life’s inconveniences.
Yeah…every day can be like that…if you just ignore the time you have to spend waiting in line and manage to stay focused on the ride.

Adonai…Please don’t think for a minute that I can even pretend to get my mind around this either…but another possibility that disturbs the waters quite a bit for me…(it came to mind when you mentioned the poss of time moving in both ways) is something I read some”time” ago, a theory that put forth that all time (past, present and future) is occurring simultaneously and it is only our limited focus…(sort of like our limited range of physical sight or hearing in comparison to the entire visual and audio spectrums which remains invisible to us, yet exists none the less) that has us sense that time is linear and somewhat static rather than dynamic with it’s 3 states occurring around us concurrently.
Then again, thinking along that order, perhaps you recall the old Shaman adage that “you can never step in the same river, twice”. Because the river flows past us each second making it impossible to put your imprint into that same exact bit of water that is already down stream on your second footing…in spite of how it is perceived to us otherwise.
I thank you tho, Adonai…you consistently come up with things for me to think about!

Truth: Twisted as I can sometimes be, I saw “anti-walker” in your post and couldn’t for the life of me believe that anyone would actually want to deny the elderly the opportunity to get around with the use of one of these things! Hard to not jump to conclusions like that in the crazy world we live in anymore.

Adonai, (imo )until it can be confirmed one way or the other that any (as yet to be discovered)sentient being in this (or any other) universe accepts this concept we have of time, I have to go with time being a human invention. We have no reference beyond our own on the subject and to think ours is enough for us to conclude this riddle makes for poor scientific explanation on the subject.
(Not that we shouldn’t ponder it and stretch our collective mind by researching it…but coming to an accurate conclusion is elusive.)
I just wish I could get beyond having moved our clocks up an hour for DST last weekend. I’m still running on sun and moon lighting, and it’s been just short of a week now.
