Wait until the next few social programs get shot down with our lack of money as an excuse. Or look behind us for excuses that have been used for shooting down universal health care, abortion for rape victims, compensation for troops that shouldn’t be where this government has deemed to send them and for whatever reasons…
The point is, “We don’t have the money for social programs!”…but we have infinite funds for the likes of bail outs, beefing up domestic security through para-militarism and extending matters that are not of the nature of national self defense through rampant military funding.
This “shut down” (like others) is but one more tool to create the illusion that there is no money and to explain away why monetary benefit can not be afforded to the vast majority of Americans who would, in these times especially, benefit the most from them.
If these things took place by chapter and verse, I could perhaps provide you with what you ask.
But then it wouldn’t be a very effective ruse would it? If all ‘we the people’ had to do was to connect the lineage of obvious dots that could be used to hold this system accountable, the reps in state, local and federal government would already be held accountable and genuinely serving the people rather than simply maintaining special interests such as oil, banking, Wall St. and the Pentagon.
But they’re not.
And thanks for not simply seeing my post as an affront, which would be fairly easy to do on a subject this deep and this large.
That approach is very rarely my objective in replying to anyone’s post on this or anything.
Simply conversational.
Personally, with all due respect, I don’t adhere to the belief that whatever god there may be, has time for getting involved in the temporal desires of labor be it in America or anywhere. I think this was proven though multiple generations of pyramid building for one Egyptian ruling family after another.
But to each their own.
What rings true, rings true none the less regardless of the medium it’s contained in.

Just playin’ the crowd to justify and rationalize the next round of social spending cuts.
All other spending from banking/corporate bailouts to tax cuts for the wealthiest, to having our military involved in nation building in multiple countries will continue as before.
But now when the people on Capitol Hill say “Sorry folks. Looks like you can’t have the Social Security you once had or a health care plan as accommodating as 37 other countries (less well off as America) have.”…they can point to this charade of a shut down and say “Look how close we came to not having enough money to run our government! And we saved you!”
Not enough money?
For some things our money supply seems endless. After all it’s all credits and debits in an electronic ledger somewhere.
It’s just giving those 1s and 0s back to the American people in the form of programs and services that our representatives find repulsive and unacceptable. Well them, and any person so easily hypnotized that it can be done with a sound bite.
You should have no trouble fitting right in!
(Others would probably be welcoming you as well, but maybe they’ve already crashed for the night, time being what it is and all. So don’t take it personally. It’s a good group , here.)
But I neither want to create a post wrapped in either a faux pas of mine or anyone else.
And I thought I was “sharing” when I originally attempted to use MB to spread a little light happy music.

Anything regarding motherhood is one of them.
As a male, I reserve only respect for the people who create, carry and nurture our future and the process whose intricacies, responisibilities and the emotional highs and lows that only they can truly appreciate and realize.

But unfortunately it’s more complicated than just everybody actually voting.
Because equally unfortunate, would be the high possibility that everybody voted based on the same false information provided about the character and qualities of the individual candidates who were in the race.
So…it could be wonderful if other things were wonderful that led up to it. For sure!
It’s been said that democracy makes 51% of the people victorious and 49% of the people (or the rest of them) slaves to the 51%.
There’s some wisdom there…but don’t expect those who feel differently about voting to go there. We have some of history’s most advance indoctrination techniques ever developed. Even unto our demise you can see how effective they are.
And hey…it’s America! How can anyone be persecuted for following their own sense of freedom? I would assume that would include the freedom to abstain from voting.

One of the very points you’ve made here is what has given rise in both the public and private sectors and from science fiction to non-fictionalized in-depth analysis that “in the future water will be the new oil”.
Gotta get up pretty early in the morning to get the jump on international corporate interests and their pending oligopolies.
While all else around them can ultimately perish as nature intends, these entities are comforted by their belief that they and they alone are eternal.

Is it any wonder why we’re living in an era of “news aggregation” where one source can actually advance a lie and the others will swear by it?
There’s only 5?! Most of us get our personal information from groups of friends and family that are larger than that.
Also it’s a small wonder that Al Jazeera has picked up so much of the audience share of late.
And again, this is a living testimonial to the adage that if one can control the information…one can control the people and thus the past(history), present(acceptable norms) and future (the shape and direction the world will be in tomorrow).
And at face value it’s true all the way.
Unfortunately, if our political process were strictly digital, (simply 1s and 0s) we could sooner find an equally ‘either/or’ solution to the messes we’re in.
While it certainly appears that many of the things mentioned in this viddie ring true, each and every one of these things are ultimately passed or failed by Congress members of both parties. And these problems stemming from what many of us consider to be poor moral navigation still pass regardless of which party holds the majority. To the credit or discredit of either party throughout history, look at some of the largest game changers from Lincoln (GOP) to Johnson (DNC)…both Presidents and Congresses have contributed greatly to the cause of civil rights over the course of time,(just for example) with each representing a different face for the opposing parties…and other laws (large and small) have been passed, both for and against liberty, justice and the concerns of the people by both parties at various times.
I offer the Federal Reserve, the IRS and personal income taxation which was spearheaded by politicians representing the DNC and conversely 2 Iraq invasions perpetrated by the GOP.
In any and all these and other events, it required the real or superimposed participation of both parties and still does.
I still contend that the political divisiveness in Washington and state capitols across America is but a facade that alternates with the times and climate in America and the American people are constantly under the barrage of the biggest ‘good cop/bad cop’ routine ever perpetrated to the cause of maintaining the illusions that the American system of law and governance works well with the two party system, when there is only one (representing the aristocracy) and it really isn’t working at all to the genuine benefit of this country or the American people so much as the banks, the corporations and the self feeding machinery that keeps this charade and house of mirrors just beyond the clear view of the governed.
So, yeah…as far as creating categorical depictions of what is more than likely best for Americas interest (the most important perhaps being the needs and rights of her people) this is a great video. I just happen to believe that it relies a bit too heavily on the supposition that only one of the parties is responsible for the shape we’re in.
I’d love to see or adapt it to illustrate the complexities of where we’re going wrong and include the information that neither party is exclusively responsible except in terms of more recent and modern history, perhaps…and that is only if one can embrace the notion that it’s an ‘either/or’ political scenario in America rather than as complicated and manipulated to the benefit of both parties as the tides may dictate.
