This sure isn’t the deja vu I ever thought I’d see again. It breaks my heart to hear the same men saying the same things but 40 years later. We’ve raised almost 3 generations since I was a teen that speak the same language.

HI Kalima. I knew more were to be charged, but our headlines started with her alone with many, many photos of her wonderful red hair (I’m so jealous). I just want as many men in jail as women for executive crimes. Martha Stewart went to jail here for a far more minor crime than everything else happening at the time.

Hi Sally, the only thing that bothers me is that in two high profile cases–JP Morgan Chase and News Corp—the first to be identified as responsible are women. Go figure!

Bito, thank you. (Hubby and I are watching tv and the prompt let’s me now an email is in. I’ll make him pause. It’s a special thing. I have been supporting women in underdeveloped countries. I know this project and am hugely heartfelt. I get so angry at what we do here and then look at all the rest. Sigh. And thank you again.

I saw that: fun!! I also saw Tamron Hall’s video throwing some GOP spin talker off her show; it was wonderful. A dream come true to have someone do this. It would stop all GOP garbage instantly if more news people did this.

Am I wrong? Didn’t the Congress wheel and deal, whine, moan, scream and finally agree to a defense budget deal August 2011? Does every Republican just take lying for granted? I get Rove’s concept of creating reality rather than reporting it–the land where spin becomes “truth”, I get that they can lie to our faces on TV. What I don’t get is the lack of attention on writing and signing a legal agreement and then refusing to follow it. Oops, changed my mind. Actually, it was a trick; I never intended to follow it.

And Mitt, who at least appeared to evade the truth or downplay his flipflops, let’s the lies roll like a pathological liar. It’s fun!

KT, not the biggest issue by a long shot–for me. But the biggest statement about civil rights anyone has made in a while. AND, it throws the GOP on their heels. And, I think, he just outflanked them but they don’t know it yet-or aren’t saying. I think their camps are all figuring out what the hell to do with this.

Bito, it’s most likely that Joe spoke for himself rather than as VP but the effect is still great; no one will walk back from this and it is a first. It also puts the GOP in a rallying point to their base and it might trip up Latinos, Catholics and others. But he also has put the GOP back in the spotlight after Planned Parenthood on their social platforms.

It is political and I’m glad; this election is important. If the MSM can’t hang on or keep speed, more the fun.

I’m with you on that Sue. Also, a little more than pissed at the young’uns and the far left (Feingold was exactly helpful) who didn’t see the transformation to idealism and stayed home in 2010. I’m hoping that things didn’t get better until they got worse, that 2010 was that, and that now the fold will come back in it’s entirety.

I’m sorry, but I think we might have a perfect rope-a-dope. Whether Biden gaffed or not, think about this: Obama couldn’t bring up marriage equality without being accused of politicizing gay and lesbian rights–shame on him. With WAPO and others saying “Biden puts Obama in difficult position” or “Biden comment shows rift in WH”, Obama can be “forced” to deliver an evolved position which allows him to talk about the military as Chief Commander, and about the importance of religion in the lives of all Americans who chose it.

He has now become the first President to support the next step in Equal Rights; he has done it in a way that is harder to attack; and, wonderfully has brought the discussion back to social issues. The GOP just suffered a strategic and tactical failure.

bito, An awful lot of things have come easy to Mitt and now it seems that blatant lying is one of them. The imagery of Mitt and chums chuckling while lighting dollar bills as cigars has the same relationship here. It’s like he’s always so damn happy about getting away with things.

Roll up GOP sound bites, light them up like cigars: big boys.

Mitt is white and good looking. I’ll give him that. Otherwise, I’d call him a Wall Street Insider, nothing more, nothing less. His Olympic rally was a hail to lobbyists. I don’t think he has anything more that I’ve heard.

Bito, well I like it, although the dog flea memory is pretty funny Kes. I think if we had those awful oil pumps everywhere, or acres of wind mills, or BP oil spills, or fights with Iran, Iraq, Saudis, Venezuelans or whatever it takes for us to fuel ourselves, somehow we would dislike all of it. But, poor us.

Bito, I roared with laughter as well. People don’t really know just what a vaginal probe is like; they would be OUTRAGED if they did. To our friendly neighbors from the GOP, it’s just a bunch of words with vagina in it. Maybe every Congress person should have one before they vote for it and every GOP voter should as well. Has anyone noticed the MSM pushing back on GOP BS? The anniversary of bin Laden’s demise seems to be dissallowed as a GOP talking point. If this is true, it is a first. My next wish is that “distortions, obfuscations, etc.” start to be called LIES, dirty rotten lies!

Greetings from a reluctantly busy me: I just passed 66 and will be carrying an extra 6 to prove I’m still devilish; we have a second puppy in our lives; my wonderful Derick Rose is out for a long time and I’m still watching; and my president just walked a tight rope.

I expect some resistance to Obama’s speech but I support it. It is not comfortable to take a position which some on the left dislike, nor is it my nature to support anything requiring troops. My impression is that it has been far too long that the US has had a non developmental/non strategic policy in the Middle East. I read a while ago that B. Clinton’s biggest failure was to be so caught in his shorts (!) that he neglected the formation of a strong US foreign policy, which let Russia flounder, let terrorism, tribal leaders, Pakistan nukes, bin Laden all grow. If he does one inch of developing a policy that develops a better relationship with the Middle East, I’m for it.

I know you all have good and strong opinions, so all information is terrific

That being said, we know Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld had the same old American jingoism as policy which the rest of the world-except GB-has discarded.
