And loving every minute of it. Our daughter did yeoman’s work helping with the city side and she shared this wonderful site: “The Uterus That Ate the Republican Convention”, a thermal image of Isaac. Now that I am gingerly re-awakening my GOP anger, I have found, again, that my biggest fury is with the media. This was heightened by the Ryan speech in which NO ONE would say he lied. Oh, the “fact checkers” will have to weigh in on this. Feels a little like Vonnegut or Hersey to me. Everyone is so afraid to say anything about the GOP that we have created a whole new industry of fact checkers. The insanity of this cannot begin to outweigh the immorality of the news industry in their not challenging even basic truths–in print truths–established fact truths. Words like “stretching, misrepresenting, misspeaking, there must be more” soften the blow of LYING. Lying is to be of poor character; these other words are Tom Sawyer like in their import. I saw a bit of Howard Kurtz’s show about the media this morning. In it he examined Chris Mathews’ rant with Rance Preibus. Howard asked whether this was over the top and, like all news people, he had two talkers taking sides. The points the un-GOP talker made was that this IS Chris Mathews; he always is this way. And secondly, what about FOX News and their rants? Any mention? Of course not. And why? Why isn’t the news media serving us better?
