A Mandate for Civil Disobedience

I was watching this when it happened, but my favorite part was Levin catching McCain in a near Gilda Raddner moment: Oh, never mind! Instead he went on about being pissed for his bud, Joe.

MCCAIN: I

Actually, Podesta WAS DLCer! The Center for American Progress and it’s directors are not of the DLC ilk

From CQ: The Senate may be in session on Christmas Eve and during the week leading up to News Years.

Is the new target date the Sate of the Union speech?

j’avaz, Hello!
In a short piece by Matthew Yglesias, Dr. Dean may be contradicting his own thoughts. Perhaps Dr.Dean is as confused as the rest of us. 🙂

Cher, John Podesta is very much still an “insider.” I saw him once shyly admit that he still talks to the leaders and WH “a couple times a week.
The Center for American Progress seems to be quite connected to the progressives in side the beltway. They are think tank not just “news gathers”
I make no pretense to know the answer. I will continue with my small efforts for a good bill.

AdLib, may I suggest that you read The Progress Report from the Center for American Progress from this morning:

Why do I feel that I am being asked “how did you like the meal? How do you like my cooking?” When all I have seen is a snapshot and list of ingredients of the meal?

We heard and still hear the fear mongering on HCR from the right with their death panels, government rationing, medical profiles kept on everyone, government taker over of hospitals and doctors……

Now I am supposed to react in fright from the fears of the left?

The Senate bill is still fluid, it still being written. It has not been passed. I respect Dr. Dean immensely and I like his plan but he has not been privy to the behind the scenes work. Nor have any of the reporters who write so many rumors and guesses for the next hours “breaking news.”

Killing this bill is exactly what the GOP set out to do.

I will withhold my final opinion until I see a conference committee appointed. Rumors are like flies…
I withhold my opinion for now.

A Hole in the Soul

Kalima, Kindness to strangers almost seems to be difficult in these days. During shopping today,I was reminded of this fact. A simple “hello” “Good sale” ” Tomatoes look good” are often reacted with a look of “why are you speaking to me?”
I don’t stop trying to show some simple simple conversation, kindness, if you will, to fellow humans.
During my worst times, I have had people slam my cane or walker. What is this rudeness? It does not stop me, but it does make me wonder.

My brain is not working( for the last few days) so I will say goodnight. (i am looking FORWARD to my blood work-up and visit to the clinic 🙂 )
good night , all.

While this talk is so comforting does it get on the TeeVees? are most of us not guilty of siting tapping away? Why were the last two political races lost (VA&NJ)? Do we take to streets anymore? Do we knock on the doors? do we do the simple thing of GOTV? Do we even know who our prescient committee person is? Do we attend party meetings? Are you involved in the party of your choice?
I will say this again: liberals blog–coserves. GOTV.

A warm welcome home to the Planet POV, aBS.

On your post, a bit of realism brings thought to idealism and does nothing to fairness.

This is legislating, this is the making of the sausage. Have many here watched many bills this long this much with such intensity?

Right now Coburn is making the clerk read the whole 336 page amendt. of Bernie Saunders (medicare for all). What an ass!

Edit: the estimate by the clerks office this maneuver by Coburn is going to take 8 hrs. to read the whole thing. This is the GOP’s idea of governing! Constuctive, Eh?

C’mon people, Kay Hagan is not the demon many of you make her out to be. Is she a rabid progressive? No. Is she a rabid blue dog? No. Neither of the drug importation amendts. passed and she was not a leader pro or con on them. she is not standing in the way for a good HCR bill. Is she a fiscal conserv? She has to represent North Carolina. She has to get elected. Do you think Bernie Sanders could get elected there?
