The Daily Planet, Vol.19

Above all, I believe in evolution…. even in America… SO…. good things are around the corner! (It sure takes more time than I like though…)

Cher, another excellent compilation of yours. Sadly I can’t always read so much, too much information is simply too overwhelming for me. Yet I know for sure every single edition of the Daily Planet is fully worth the time and energy!

And, funksands, have you seen that! Extreme!!! :

As Mr. King, a Republican, rose as a Long Island politician in the 1980s, benefiting from strong Irish-American support, the I.R.A. was carrying out a bloody campaign of bombing and sniping, targeting the British Army, Protestant paramilitaries and sometimes pubs and other civilian gathering spots. His statements, along with his close ties to key figures in the military and political wings of the I.R.A., drew the attention of British and American authorities.

A judge in Belfast threw him out of an I.R.A. murder trial, calling him an “obvious collaborator,” said Ed Moloney, an Irish journalist and author of “A Secret History of the I.R.A.” In 1984, Mr. King complained that the Secret Service had investigated him as a “security risk,” Mr. Moloney said.

Vivian Schiller, the embattled chief executive of NPR, resigned from the organization Wednesday, one day after an embarrassing video surfaced of another NPR executive disparaging conservatives.

— What is more: the other NPR executive was TRICKED into his statement by one O’Kefee? – forgot his name – who also threw mud on Acorn earlier.
So they can trick people into making statements (which were by the way nothing but the hard truth!!!) and get rewarded for their dirty tactics by others resigning? And the right can make the most outrageous statements? How on earth is this possible???

jkk, to European ears this sounds like 1860.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!

The rapid expansion in California’s Hispanic population has transformed the state’s political balance, putting Republicans at a disadvantage in statewide elections.

Exactly. And for example the tea party would be a very good starting point for homegrown radicalism.

» Posted By Truth On March 10, 2011 @ 10:25 am

Cher, that’s indeed why they don’t care about facts like those. At least that’s what I concluded after studying Palin and her extreme end-time cult church.

» Posted By Truth On March 10, 2011 @ 10:22 am

You beat me to it!

» Posted By Truth On March 10, 2011 @ 10:20 am

I guess, when they drown themselves??? Maybe they go on denying even then!

So unbelievable! I learnt about climate change some 30 years ago at school. It was a progressive teacher, of course, but it just shows the knowledge was around even then!

» Posted By Truth On March 10, 2011 @ 10:19 am

Thanks for that Cher. If I were an American, I would write too!!!

To think that there are still climate change deniers, when the water literally is nearing our necks already:

“That ice sheets will dominate future sea level rise is not surprising — they hold a lot more ice mass than mountain glaciers,” said lead author Eric Rignot, jointly of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the University of California, Irvine.
“What is surprising is this increased contribution by the ice sheets is already happening,” he said.
Under the current trends, he said, sea level is likely to be “significantly higher” than levels projected by the United Nations climate change panel in 2007.

Ha, and Ezra Klein thinks too, it’s about time…

Ezra Klein had a good item on this earlier, saying “it’s about time” Democrats did this.

“There’s not much money to begin with in non-security discretionary spending, and because it’s such a popular place to search for cuts, there’s not much waste, either. It’s like trying to clean your house by doing more and more to organize the hallway closet. It might help the first few times, but eventually, you have to head elsewhere. […] ”

EXCELLENT AND ABOUT TIME…..:

Just as important, Schumer emphasized a distinction that’s gone largely overlooked thus far: “Right now a very small, very intense ideological tail is wagging the dog over in the House of Representatives. Their fervor for spending cuts is not grounded in deficit reduction at all. Instead the far right wing has deliberately confused two separate issues. They’ve conflated reducing the deficit — which is not their true priority — with cutting government — which is.”

And with that, Schumer began moving the game from the GOP’s field, where Dems have been losing, to a bigger venue.

It’s really, really, really outrageous that nobody from the Pfizer company got jail time! As a remedy for out battered nerves and since I think this project should get as much attention as possible, I repost once more storyofstuffproject’s video “The Story of Citizens United v FEC”

The Daily Planet, Vol. 16

I hoped it was not one of those Murdochs… in that case I may have to add that tidbit somehow. Argg – I’m getting sick even thinking of her. Glad you put up this quote today…. I have to put it a bit into the spotlight…

» Posted By Truth On March 7, 2011 @ 10:58 am

Thanks, Cher, I got your message on MB. For once AH did something intelligent…. yet the article I plan is not really meant to put her in any kind of favorable light…
Thanks anyway, I appreciate your support as well as today’s quote.

AdLib, I just discovered the GROW info, after CL was mentioning it. Sounds good, but I have to read it thoroughly before getting back to you with more questions.

CL, that sounds very good!

» Posted By Truth On March 6, 2011 @ 11:59 pm

chazmania, yes, but I think this practice might change if they get really high fines and have to pay massive compensation even for putting out the lies in the first place.

» Posted By Truth On March 6, 2011 @ 11:56 pm

AdLib, what you suggest is certainly good and necessary. But in my opinion it is not enough! See how fast they smashed Murdoch down in the UK, while the media in the US actively ERODE democracy from within on a daily basis. Media are one of the most powerful weapons of the corporations, and therefore the population needs to get a real and strong handle on them!
There could and should be at least something like a Press Complaints Commission to deal with crude lies and misinformation.
I see this as one of the main issues in America and I really hope that some of those brilliant planeteer-minds catch on this issue……
