In order for trump and the GOP to have 40% of all Americans supporting them, roughly 60% of white Americans must be racists and bigots. The good news is that 40% of white Americans are NOT racists and bigots, and combined with other ethnicities, WE should be able to ensure that the USA lives up to it creed that ALL PEOPLE (not just white men) are created equal. People who support republicans obviously believe that all white men are created equal and that white men are superior to everyone else. Another poll that the press keeps stressing is that 53% of black people support Joe Biden for president in 2020. That to me is a very strange poll result, because I have not talked to a single black person whose first choice for president in 2020 is Joe Biden. Granted, I have not conducted a scientific poll, but I have serious doubts as to the accuracy of the polls I read about. Black women is the most active component of black voters, and the majority of black women do not support Joe Biden. I have not seen a poll that supports that, but I suspect it is true. It is sort of amazing that pollsters don’t break the polls down to measure the support among black women for the various candidates. Some of that, I suspect, was because he did not want to veer from his report. It is reasonable that he had help from this staff in writing the report as well as conducting the investigation. AND Russia and other countries are likely to build on that success in future elections. He did establish that he did not indict trump because of the DOJ policy. The reason he gave in his summary of Volume 1 was that he did not think he could prove beyond a reasonable doubt that trump and his minions knowingly and willfully did the things they did, EVEN THOUGH they continuously LIED about them. I have read most of the report, especially Volume 1, because that was the volume that the press was/is reporting that there was no evidence of conspiracy on the part of trump and his minions. There are SEVERAL cases in Volume 1 where a prudent person would conclude that trump and his minions conspired with Russians to influence the election. What Mueller said about their guilt is that he did not think he could prove beyond a reasonable doubt that trump and his minions did the things they did knowingly and willfully. THAT is what I would like to hear Mueller explain tomorrow. As for Volume 2, we all saw plainly and openly that trump obstructed and attempted to obstruct justice AT EVERY TURN. Trump openly asked Russia to hack Hillary’s emails. He openly lied about the purpose of the trump tower meeting with jr., jared, Manafort and the Russian attorney. He openly attempted to discredit Mueller and everyone connected with investigating his conspiracy to steal the election, while openly praising anyone who lied or refused to cooperate. I am certain that he lied in his written testimony to Mueller, and the only reason he did not lie under oath in person is because he refused to be interviewed in person.
He violates the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution on a daily basis. You expect certain people to do certain things. You expect people of faith to be in worship service at the appointed time. You expect professional football players to play football when it is time to play football. You expect liars to lie. You expect trump to be a crooked con man, a racist, a bigot and a misogynist. That is what trump does.
What do we expect from people in our government who are sworn to defend and protect the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, regardless of party affiliation to do about the laws trump has openly violated? I expect republicans to make excuses for trump and defend him, because that is what they do. Currently, I expect congressional Democrats to whine, complain, issue subpoenas and pretend to care about the rule of law, but do absolutely NOTHING to hold trump accountable. To them, the framers of the Constitution put the impeachment provision in the Constitution to use only if it is politically expedient.
