The committee found that Russian President Vladimir Putin was personally behind the hack and leak operation that published stolen Democratic Party emails, and that WikiLeaks — the website that published them — played a key role and “very likely knew it was assisting a Russian intelligence influence effort.” The Trump campaign sought to take advantage of those leaks by asking for advance notice of the WikiLeaks disclosures, crafting PR strategies around them, and even encouraging “further theft of information and continued leaks.” AND trump’s campaign (including trump himself) communicated with Stone in releasing WikiLeaks documents. It is unclear what Clinesmith changed the email to say, however he says he did not intend to mislead the court or his colleagues. “It was never his intent to mislead the court or his colleagues as he believed the information he relayed was accurate. According to a criminal information filed in Federal court in Washington D.C. on Friday, Clinesmith altered an email from another unnamed government agency, believed to be the CIA, to say that an unnamed individual, believed to be Page, “was not a source,” even though an email from the other government agency did not say that. The question is did Clinesmith change the actual email, or did he misinterpret what the email actually said. It would seem that if Clinesmith believed he correctly interpreted the email, then by definition he did not lie. He misinterpreted it, and there is a HUGE difference. I am not sure what the purpose of the hearing is. It appears that Senator Graham was attempting to prove or promote that Flynn was improperly investigated by Mueller and that by Sally Yates expressing her concerns to the trump administration that Flynn had compromised himself with Russia by discussing Russian sanctions with Russia before trump was inaugurated, was because of a policy difference rather than a possible violation of the Logan Act and a counter-intelligence breach. Senator Cornyn questioned Ms. Yates about James Comey breaking FBI norms by saying that Hillary Clinton should not be prosecuted, and that decision should have been made by AG Lynch. As I recall, AG Lynch had publicly stated that she would leave that decision to Comey.
