Displaying 7,261 To 7,290 Of 7,446 Comments The 7 Mountains of Influence In Culture and Why You Should Be Concerned My problem is I went totally the other way. I recently read a book, Why The Religious Right is Wrong which really helped me. It is hard to separate the bad in things from the good sometimes and that book helped me. It also steered me to the UCC and I have found attending services there to be quite fulfilling. » Posted By SueInCa On December 21, 2009 @ 10:21 am Thank you for your kind words. I too have been a fan of yours for awhile now. I, too, am concerned about those in congress and I now look at Huckabee in a new light. I know he is a baptist minister but his demeanor fits right in to their mold and he did run in the primaries last year. I wonder if he had won if Palin would have arrived on the scene? » Posted By SueInCa On December 21, 2009 @ 9:14 am Ny brother did years ago at UCDavis. He was going to destroy his Beatle albums and all other “sinful” music one night after a particular church service. I saved those albums and when he came to his senses a few years later, he wanted them back. Since I was the guardian of what would later be keepsakes(LOL) I told him no. Without my intervention they would have been smashed. I got in to the rebellious religion thing probably about the 9th grade. Of course I was questioning alot of things in those years, starting about 1966. » Posted By SueInCa On December 21, 2009 @ 9:11 am On here I am not so hesitant to give you my email. I know people will not abuse it, it is eldorado@wavecable.com » Posted By SueInCa On December 21, 2009 @ 9:06 am So does United Church of Christ. A good read from one of their ministers is, Why The Religious Right is Wrong by Dr. Robin Meyers(Meiers?). It is a book I carry with me all the time. B&N has it in paperback and I just ordered a copy. » Posted By SueInCa On December 21, 2009 @ 8:56 am I think you hit the nail on the head. Many of us were, as you say, indoctrinated at an early age. The rule in my family was one church service a week until 18. I started to question very early so you can imagine my rebellion on this rule. At 18, I stopped going altogether and not until recent years have I come to grip and understand you can be spiritual without being religious to a fault. » Posted By SueInCa On December 21, 2009 @ 8:51 am thanks, i will keep it handy » Posted By SueInCa On December 20, 2009 @ 6:39 pm You do with your companionship on this site. » Posted By SueInCa On December 20, 2009 @ 6:01 pm If sometime you want to chat offline, let me know. Some of what you refer to in the organization(s) you belong to sound very interesting. I am in northern ca in a very heavy republican county but I have found a church here that is to my liking, the UCC. » Posted By SueInCa On December 20, 2009 @ 5:59 pm Wow, your write up is better than mine. I tried to cram in as much as I could without making it a tome but felt even when I hit publish it was not enough. I truly think a series of articles and information on them needs to be documented. We can only hope that they will be stopped. I would like to think hope and love can do the trick but I agree with you, we are living in troubled times. I will pick up that book tomorrow at the library. I am always looking for a good read. Thanks » Posted By SueInCa On December 20, 2009 @ 5:20 pm Friday Night at the Planet 12-18-09 I was doing some research and found this posted by Joe the Nerd at huffpo, it might be worth following up on. I am going to http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=169917060735 JANUARY 15 2010 – MARCH FOR CHANGE AMERICANS NEED TO MARCH ON WASHINGTON IN NUMBERS HERETOFORE UNSEEN TO DEMONSTRATE OUR SUPPORT FOR THE FUNDAMENTAL CHANGES WE STILL BELIEVE IN AND WANT TO SEE OUR PRESIDENT & REPRESENTATIVES FIGHT FOR. We need to show our numbers, our vigor, and our commitment to REAL, SUBSTANTIVE, AND FUNDAMENTAL (not incremental) CHANGE in a way that will capture the national media’s attention and call attention to our discontent. This astroturf, right-wing, TeaBag movement has been successful in creating the misperception that “Millions” of Americans are fed up with Gov’t (specifically Obama). » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 5:33 pm Anyone heard of this? The Senate will conduct the most important vote of the health care debate on Monday at 1AM. (1 AM is not a typo) The vote requires 60 votes to approve. While on the phone and fax lines at the Senate are jammed, GradeGov gets thru via inside email addresses. So…Send the Senate a Christmas gift from you and let your voice be heard. Tell you friends and family before the 1AM Monday vote to go to GradeGov and tell the Senate how you feel about the Health Care reform bill. This could be a very important weekend for the future of your health care coverage. She called me one day and said she was going to see Bob Marley at a fair in LA. She was so excited that I hated to tell her it was not going to be the “real” Marley. It was a street fair saluting the greats of Reggae. » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 1:44 pm Here is one from a group called Aswad
» Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 1:35 pm Thanks for that, as you might see from my gravatar, I love Bob Marley. » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 1:32 pm I get replies from Feinstein and Boxer all the time. Granted they are form letters but at least they address the issue I was writing about. How funny for those two if they did not? » Posted By SueInCa On December 19, 2009 @ 8:37 am Religious Right Holds “Prayercast” To Stop Health Care Bill Emerald Sarah Palin’s religious mentor is a part of the reclaiming the 7 mountains group. I will look up my notes somewhere in a journal to find the name. Loren Cunningham, also a part, praised Palin and Bachman as fine christian women who should be at the top of our government in some form or fashion. No shit……………..I think Jeff Sharlet should do a sequel book. They all come back to The Family in some way or another. Maybe I will send off and email to Rachel Maddow. » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 11:11 am http://wthrockmorton.com/2009/12/17/christianitytodaycoversahb/comment-page-1/#comment-223630 This Professor has alot of info on Uganda Warren Throckmorton » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 11:02 am Nellie They mention a man named Dutch Sheets and a leader in Uganda who met or has ties with this group as well. I need to do further research to connect them all, but I am listing all the names I find. » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 10:54 am Good to see you here too. I actually had a no-huffpo thursday yesterday and it felt good. » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 10:03 am If I ever had found one of my kids at that Jesus Camp, it would have been 5150 for them at Contra Costa County hospital. That piece was truly sick. » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 10:00 am “the religious right prayercast” » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 9:58 am OH KevenSeven, wait until you see my piece on the 7 mountains. You are right on target. The religious right has a plan to conquer every facet of our society. If they were to accomplish half of what they want, this will no longer be America, but instead Amerika. Those who cry socialism are usually the ones planning it, in their own twisted way. » Posted By SueInCa On December 18, 2009 @ 9:55 am ok I have not left yet, here is the google result Religious Right Holds » Posted By SueInCa On December 17, 2009 @ 9:19 pm LOL, I have always wanted to visit Cuba » Posted By SueInCa On December 17, 2009 @ 9:14 pm Well I am out for the night.
