Morning Blog – 1-7-10

Nellie
I know. It is one thing for the sheeple on HP to follow her every word, but progressives were supposed to be smarter than that.

Bito- I know. We have been with a credit union for at least 30 years now. We also have some accounts with BofA but only because of their online banking program. We may be moving those as well.

I have a little black and white one, he is definitely king of the house and only weighs 11 pounds, but he calls the shots.

I was listening to Thom Hartman on Sat on FSTV and he actually was giving credit to Hairyanna for her article on moving to community banks. I almost threw a pillow at the TV. She puts out this article like her and her brilliant collegues just came up with this idea. Of course she probably took it from the comments over the last year on her financial stories with people talking about this same thing, but actually doing so over the past year.

I was disappointed in Thom for giving her so much credit when the idea is not new or original. I went to the comments but because it was a Hairyanna inspired article it was heavily moderated. Still I got in some good zingers that she was not being original here. Then with all the sheeple following her like it was the decision of the century, I came back here.

Campaign Finance Reform Revisited

I posted something to that effect earlier today.

“We may congratulate ourselves that this cruel war is nearing its end. It has cost a vast amount of treasure and blood. . . .
It has indeed been a trying hour for the Republic; but
I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war.
God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless.”

The passage appears in a letter from Lincoln to (Col.) William F. Elkins, Nov. 21, 1864

And his suspicions were not groundless………………

Huffington Post AKA It’s All Obama’s Fault: This Week’s Meme Obama Weak on Terror

Yes and if they are not rightwing fundamentalists, they go in the “further scrutiny” line.

LOL, Hillary is as much a hawk as McCain in some areas. I did support her initially but when I took the time to really compare platforms, Obama won out. I give her and Bill credit for coming over, but I know there was a motive there. I really really liked Bill Clinton but some of the issues he has been embroiled in have taken off a lot of that lustre

John King is a pimp {{{{disgust}}}}}}}. I am choosy about what I watch over there, Suzanne has proven so far to be fair, Rick Sanchez, Amanpour, Fareed and Tony(in the morning) is all I normally watch. The rest are pimps.

I like mcClatchy as well. I tried them prior to finally seeing a hidden post on HP referencing this site. I googled the PlanetPov that was in parenthesis and found this site. Heck I was hesitant to post here because I could not tell from the reference if all were allowed LOL. But I did it anyway, being the rebellious gal I am and found a new home.

Another note on Republicans have they forgotten that Richard Reid too made it on to an aircraft with bomb materials in his shoe? The passengers and crew were also credited with helping to foil his attempt. This, at a time when Marshalls were supposed to be flying incognito on flights.

Funny, i almost put lines between the letters bomb LOL some habits are hard to break

Let’s face it, we have a conservative(for the most part) run MSM. I have seen CNN as of late, respond a little more honestly for both sides, but the Republicans give good theater. They are angry, obstinate and can make up the best excuses in the world for their actions, and no one questions them except for Keith, Rachel and now Suzanne Malvaeu. IMHO she should replace Wolf Blitzer. He has not been effective since the first gulf war. An example of their rhetoric, Orin Hatch responded to the AP yesterday about the Medicare Part D bill,
Six years ago, “it was standard practice not to pay for things,” said Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah. “We were concerned about it, because it certainly added to the deficit, no question.” His 2003 vote has been vindicated, Hatch said, because the prescription drug benefit “has done a lot of good.”

Strange days, indeed…..

I, too, like your old pic. Makes you look a little like a :bad(good)guy LOL. I like the bad boy look, although my husband is as clean cut as they come LOL.

New Blood

Khirad

What a great piece. I can see why you were tired towards the end. We understand so little about the middle east as a whole. Our colleges are putting out some good courses on ethnic studies, but in k-12 there is not much at all except for the American version, which is sorely lacking. I think we fail in that respect and a healthy respect for learning different languages. One year of spanish or french in high school is not sufficient. I am told in Germany all are required to master another language.

Never Forget – The Dark Days Could Come Again

WTS, thanks for clarifying. Sometimes with all the crap that the right is putting out it is difficult to criticize the president even though there are many actions I disagree with, but I don’t want to add another pile on the generous one the right is pouring. I, too, am somewhat disappointed that he has not been more agressive. I understand it is probably not in his nature and in some instances, we can be happy about that. We did not end up with another shrub who had no class.

I hate to tell you this but that was McCain’s energy plan in it’s entirety. All over the nation. I don’t agree with these plants either but either way, they would have been built.

» Posted By SueInCa On December 29, 2009 @ 7:12 pm

Not sure what you are referring to in your statement. The mess this country is in is only surpassed by what FDR walked in to. Granted, Obama wanted to run for president, but none of the candidates who were originally in the running would have wanted that mess given a choice.

Are you seriously saying the economy that he inherited from the Bush administration is not a problem? The whole point of the article is that we never want another administration like the Bush administration in it’s entirety

Great, I will add this to the email I got this morning on editing posts. Thanks so much. I have to go to the faq’s to see how to add my own pics so you all do not have to keep doing it.

So true. Debate is healthy and no one should be afraid to voice their opinion.

In no way did I want to infer they were childish. Wanting instant gratification is not just a childish trait. I can see your point on the special interests, they too bother me. But not to the point where I am going to say I wish I had never voted for him. Those are things that could evolve over time so I am patient and if they do not, then I would speak out. I do not consider myself an Obamabot as I have disagreed with some of his policies, especially Wall Street, Pakistan Drones, non repeal of the Patriot Act and Afghanistan. And I do speak out on those issues. In reality, the other choice would have been McCain/Palin. I guess I should have been more clear.

The GOP is Poised for Possible Gains in 2010

And Hoesktra(sp) took the opportunity to send out a campaign letter asking for money promising no terrorist would get in to Michigan if he is gov.

Not with the most recent “stupid” statements. Orin Hatch on the Medicare D bill he signed on to for Bush………..”six years ago it was standard practice not to pay for things” WTF?

LOL, but I did get a 17″ flat screen monitor out of her office at HP. Told her I was going to send emails out to everyone on my email list as to how they tried to schlep off a used monitor on me when my original new one went out. I had a new monitor in two days by UPS LOL

Boxer is my senator as well. Whatever I can do to help you, let me know. Fiorina is a joke and her terrible management at HP will be an issue for her to overcome. Her claim of bringing jobs will be undercut by her outsourcing at HP.

My letter to the FDA today

I hit the wrong key…………..but I agree Alcohol is a bad drug as well. I have seen many a life destroyed because of alcoholism.

I personally know how all the smokers here feel. I was a smoker for many years and am a nice non-smoker. Truth is I am never sure that I will not pick up a pack on any given day and start again. I enjoyed smoking and was always considerate of others who did not smoke, hell I tried to blow the other way even with smokers. Because of my addiction, I never try to tell others to stop unless they ask me. I know how they feel and it sure took me a long time to stop. I do, however, agree alcohol is
