Americans United

Of course you can. Everything here is for the good of the idea. C&P away girl!

I just got this in my email……………

Dear susan,

In January, five radical Republicans on the Supreme Court overturned 100 years of American law.

They gave huge corporations a Constitutional right to spend unlimited amounts of money to elect candidates at all levels, from Mayor to President.

As President Obama declared in his State of the Union address, this ruling will “will open the floodgates for special interests

You are a gem, Mr. Suits

Absolutely, I will do whatever is asked.

I know, did not mean to make it sound like you were wrong, quite the opposite. By using corporation, we can drill down in to the various issues without having such a long list of ideas to fight. I hope I am making myself clear,

Hate to sound like an Ad(woman) but how about a phrase directed at corporations?

“They might not hear our voices raised up in the boardroom, but they will hear them everywhere else”

» Posted By SueInCa On February 10, 2010 @ 6:56 pm

Actually covering corporations brings a wide array of issues to be tackled. So it is corporation, then the action issues are: HCR, Campaign Funding, Shutout of Small Business, Shipping jobs overseas to take advantage of people willing to work for $2 or $5 dollars a day, too big to fail, corp responsibility………….the list goes on.

Sweetie
My entire career was spent in the financial industry with a very conservative bank at the time (WFB, I left just before Norwest took over). I knew conservative lending so you can imagine my thoughts during the housing bubble. I knew it would collapse, but not in the way that it did. I feel the same way about the buyers against the lenders, especially the high risk lenders/hard lenders. And the hard lenders are still at it.

Give me the research to do, I love that part of it.

I think your Share our wealth – Vote in our Interests needs to be the one. Maybe

Share OUR Wealth? Vote for/in OUR Interest.

You will never be obsolete here.

Javaz
Where did you find the answer to adding images? I have looked everywhere on the post page and cannot find it.

» Posted By SueInCa On February 10, 2010 @ 6:19 pm

That is good, the shorter more descriptive the better. The mission statement and slogan can be longer, but the group name needs to be recognizable and what better than Americans United?

I want the corporate greed reined in, I want Main Street to not be forgotten, I want corporations to be taken aback by a strong force for the middle class in our country. Focus on the small business for growth, not corporations. Focus on banks that lend to small business, not the mega banks(and I am not advocating accepting support from them but offering support to them). Call out our leaders when they are wrong, or have acted in a way that is not consistent with their promises. Demonstrate in front of their offices, bring attention at the local level to what people may be missing in the news on a daily basis.

Oh yeah and Adlib can add us to this site, like a real advertisement and everything.

Absolutely Cher. There is no place to start like square one. A logo, a name and a statement, if people see it enough, will catch on.

MLK and Abbie Hoffman were two of the people I thought of first. MLK had the church and SCLC behind him and Hoffman had the college campuses behind him. I suggested once we figure this out, we hit campuses with the idea and the action needed to accomplish the goal. The young have boundless enery and once committed will go all the way is my thought. They, as well as the older crowd have a stake in this.

» Posted By SueInCa On February 10, 2010 @ 5:58 pm

Yeah, Javaz, you are da lady. I just had an idea. We all have college campuses nearby. Once we figure it all out, hit those campuses. Those kids are worried about their futures and I know some feel they are getting their degrees to step in to a world that has no place for them to make a living.

Flyers on a college campus is a great way to generate support and start groups across the country. Word passes around at the colleges so it would not be difficult to get the word out. What do you all think?

URGENT ACTION NEEDED: The Death of Democracy

Just an FYI. I have written to Senators Leahy and Sanders many times and am never edited for a zip code. They seem to take emails from almost anyone.

HATE IN AMERICA, Part 2: Hate Speech and the First Amendment

I was not aware Harper was a fundamentalist christian. I will have to do some research on him. I know there is a movement in Canada similar to ours but was not aware Harper was a part of that……scary

The Israel thing is kind of tricky. My impression is that they are trying to co-opt Israel as a reason for declaring war on Iran. The religious right has even hijacked the

Don’t ever trust Warren. His mentor coming up and the person he gives credit to in his thesis is C Peter Wagner, a founding member of the 7 Mountains or the Third Wave of pentacostals, the same group that Palin is a member of, very dangerous people. He tried to deny the thesis thing and when Max Blumenthal took a look at it, it was right there in black and white. Warren is a liar.

You are on the right side of the equation, though. I hate ignorance therefore I hate rascism of any kind. These people who act like that are ignorant and foolish. I just love to debate the white person who says the minorities of the world need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. It usually boils down to they will choose the negative things they have heard to bolster their argument but never address the positive. I know a lady who hates muslims because of the way they treat women. Yet she hates all muslims so that tells me she is using the feminist thing to justify her hate, otherwise she would at least like the women, right?
People like that have no place in our society if you ask me.

Keeping the Fire Burning

I just cannot believe the right and the religious right’s mantra with regard to Iran. I mean, just how stupid do you have to be to think like that? Oh wait, we invaded Iraq, right? Never mind.

Oh my word, I would need a “native son or daughter” with me to make sure I don’t step on any cultural toes. Or maybe I would just have to read up on the customs or rules, huh? Always looking for the easy out, that is me. Seriously I would love to travel there. My Mother has been to the ME twice(after she was 70) and loves the entire area.
