» Posted By SmotPoker On March 16, 2014 @ 4:07 am No such luck my friend. I do have a temporary hearing aid for the next 6 weeks, and at that point I’m getting the Cochlear Implant. Time will tell. The implant isn’t just plug and play. It’s more like a Dragon Speech Recognition software. I need to train my brain to recognize the words, and sounds. Every few months I go back to have them tweak it until such a time, it’s tuned as best as it can be I guess. The temp hearing aid simply amplifies sound which also distorts it quite a bit. I can kinda hear the TV, but I still leave the CC on which helps a great deal. People talking to me must have my attention before speaking. I need to be looking at them, and know they are speaking to me. It’s better than what I had so I can’t really complain. The harder part right now is still dealing with the loss of my mom, and how horrible I feel for my dad. Anyway, last year he came to Detroit for the first time since that when he was opening for Bob Seger, and The Silver Bullet Band which my dad, and I went to see along with my cannabis caregiver, and his wife. A great time was had by all. Joe even mentioned that this was his first time back since the early 70’s.
