As for being able to communicate, if you have time to log in and stumble around on FB, surely you have time to dial a few numbers and have a conversation right? I respect your choice. I look at it like shopping at Walmart, sure you can get some stuff cheap but in the long run it’s against your best interest as you are placing a big burden on your community that has to subsidize these corporations that pay such low wages that the workers MUST get government assistance. Do none of these people have telephones? Is their no mail service in their area? Have they never heard of IM’s or Skype or other services? People I care about, I tend to talk to on a regular basis. Telephones are pretty damn handy for that, and nobody is mining my calls for profit (for Constitutional violations of privacy I have the government taking care of that). What changed? $$$$$$$$$$$$ She saw the big untapped progressive market was dying for a platform, and she was more than happy to provide one that SHE could control. Over the years the site built up a base, and then a funny thing happened. HP users were bashing subjects and projects that effected HER BOTTOM LINE, and the first great purge was underway. Advertisers were not pleased to see their products being bashed on a site they paid good money to advertise on. That could not stand.
