Logically what you said makes sense but after seeing all the money spent in WI and running an ad primarily that “recalls are bad” and the results, I say they have a right to be concerned. I am sure people will get sick of the ads but at what point in time do they switch off and which ad made them think they knew enough and needed to hear no more? I hope that the Dems have enough to focus on the key swing states but from a report I saw last night, Romney has keyed all but one of those states as his swing states too. I don’t know the cost of advertising on all the networks but I am sure they need to start raising as much as they have estimated for Sept and Oct now! This election is going to be money, money, money no matter how you slice it. And, that win is apparently up for a recall because it was so close. So, we barely got that one! Yes, re-electing the President is important but we have to elect a lot more than just him! REPORT: WALMART DRIVES DOWN AMERICAN WAGES BY OUTSOURCING JOBS | Walmart’s outsourcing of jobs is driving down wages at American factories, according to a report from the National Employment Law Project. Instead of employing its own factory employees, Walmart subcontracts many of the jobs to outside companies that have histories of low wages and labor violations, the report said. “These outsourced workers laboring on Walmart’s behalf toil at the bottom of a complex hierarchy of intermediaries and in alternative employment schemes that leave them vulnerable to significant worker rights abuses and unsure where to seek redress,” said the report, which also noted that workers at multiple Walmart-contracted facilities have sued their employers for violating minimum wage laws and cheating them out of pay. Those things you list from the past had repercussions that did take decades to recover from and build on but in those decades people lost much including lives. As AdLib has said, it sometimes take people being completely knocked down before they realize all they have lost. I don’t know if that is WI problem. But, I don’t wish to fight from the ground up. I hope to fight standing.
I was depressed last night by the actions of those in WI because I remembered the impact of other people standing out in the cold fighting for their rights and their families when they were up against the wall. They inspired so many and I feel because of them Occupy started. People fighting from a standing position. Well, I don’t think they have been knocked down, not those people. Yes, they won a seat in their Senate and they should be proud and I am sure they are. Money may have helped keep that Governor in his position but he won by the votes of the people. The depression for me was that so many, record setting, got out to vote and this was the results. That is scary. These people that know he may be indicted but they didn’t care about that. (Would they vote for a President that only cares about big business and cutting more from the middle class? Will they get out in record numbers for him?) I hope they push on for their Governor to be brought to justice regardless.
It is too easy to say, “oh, we have been here before and survived”. That lets people relax. No, they need to know that they made a mistake that affects more than just them in this country and the others aren’t happy with them. We are in a battle and this election will have an impact on President Obama. It has put wind under the wings of the Republicans and will encourage those with money to give more. They see the prize and they see it’s on sale right now.
The only thing that fights money is feet on the ground working, shouting the truth, teaching the facts and holding those to blame for voting without thinking. People should be concerned not relaxed. The media is not going to help our cause unless we give them something to report. The battle is not beginning, we have been in it. People will surrender to those with the money because they look like they are the smart ones and they want to live like they do. However, those with the money don’t want you to live like them, they want it all for themselves. They want you to work for them and pay you dirt cheap, long hours, in working conditions that they don’t care if they are dangerous to you. Those that are willing to surrender are our biggest challenges. They are the ones that vote.
Nothing wrong with feeling a little dishearten by the vote last night. We need to be awake to fight and know it can be lost if we allow others to knock us down to the ground by their actions of not thinking when voting. I don’t feel they have got us down but it could happen. Knowing it could happen should keep us standing and our feet on the ground. Fighting standing up!
