Rupert Murdoch snubs Britain and says he will invest his billions in the US “In an interview with the Fox Business channel on Thursday following New Corporation’s confirmation that it was splitting into two companies, entertainment and publishing, Murdoch said he would be “a lot more reluctant” to invest in Britain now, compared to the US.” “There are billions and billions of dollars, and if Britain didn’t want ’em, there are plenty of good places to put them here [in the US]. I’m much more bullish about America than I am about England,” he added. “I would be a lot more reluctant to invest in new things in Britain today, rather than here.” “Murdoch said that Europe was in for a “very long, tough haul” and that business prospects in the US were far more rosy. That said the media mogul was worried about Thursday’s decision by the US Supreme Court to uphold president Barack Obama’s landmark healthcare legislation. “I worry about this entitlement culture,” said Murdoch. “We’ve seen where it’s taken Greece. We’ve seen where it’s taken France and Spain today. So, on a political level, I worry about it.” “Ken Doctor, media analyst at Outsell, said the split presaged Murdoch’s exit from the UK. “It’s a recognition of his waning influence in the UK and the consolidation of his business in the US. If he was 60, I would bet on him making a UK comeback but he’s not and I can’t see him achieving that in his lifetime.” http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/jun/28/rupert-murdoch-snubs-britain-billions » Posted By SallyT On June 29, 2012 @ 11:57 am » Posted By SallyT On June 29, 2012 @ 12:46 am CL, I don’t either but I don’t know why this one case has got all the attention except that someone was a “whistle blower” but according to the Fortune article, he was the real party that error and lost track of the guns and this officer was killed. He blew the whistle to get the attention off of him. So, of course the Repugs jumped all over it because they wanted to get the President. But, Holder and the President learned about it way after the fact and once Holder knew about it, he stopped it. » Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 8:55 pm WATCH: Congressional Black Caucus Leads Democrats In Walk Out Of Attorney General Contempt Vote » Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 6:25 pm » Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 5:35 pm I think he should be held in contempt! The globe-trotting Clinton hit the century mark when she stepped off her Air Force Boeing 757 plane in the Latvian capital of Riga. No previous secretary of state has visited more than 96 countries while in office, according to the State Department. The previous record-holder was Madeleine Albright, who served as secretary of state during President Bill Clinton’s second term in office.
In her three and a half years as secretary, Clinton has so far logged 70 trips abroad to countries from Afghanistan to Zambia, the department said. She has spent 337 days on the road, including more than 1,750 hours, or more than 73 days, on her Air Force 757, it said. Counting her trips abroad as first lady, Clinton has now represented the United States in 122 countries, according to her staff.
HOUSE PASSES HIGHWAY AND STUDENT LOAN BILL | Moments ago, the House of Representatives passed a re-authorization of the highway bill by a vote of 373-52. House Republicans had previously been blocking the package, holding up funding for 1.9 million transportation jobs. The bill also includes an extension of the student loan rates that will prevent them from doubling on Sunday. The legislation will now go to the Senate, where it’s likely to pass.
The Senate just approved the bill by a vote of 74-19.

Aside from a splash of debris spotted by a squadron of searchers that was lost to the elements within days, nothing was heard from Old Shaky’s crew or passengers ever again — until now.
The Joint Prisoners of War/Missing in Action Accounting Command (JPAC) announced yesterday they’d finally found the plane, along with its missing passengers and crew.
For 60 years the debris was etched into Colony Glacier, moving with the ice through time as family members held on and refused to let their loss be forgotten.
They plowed into the mountain at full speed and the bits of debris were re-covered by snow before an Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter found them again only days ago.
It’s welcome news to families left behind who maintain a Facebook page, and have been waiting for this news for six decades.
The remains will be brought home in an official arrival ceremony and reunited with those who will finally say their goodbyes.
But, according to Thomas, the “substantial effects” test goes against our founders’ intentions and gives Congress too much power.
And now, for the money quote:
“As I have explained, the Court’s continued use of that test ‘has encouraged the Federal Government to persist in its view that the Commerce Clause has virtually no limits.'”
