They did rotate their crops even back then and they did respect the land. The destruction done there was affecting the neighboring states that had been farmed for many years. That is what I meant by my comment. Many of those going into that particular area were not that familiar with farming let alone the land and had been tricked into farming it recklessly. Most were foreign immigrates. The land had been bought cheap and divided and sold to them at a much higher price. Some got land and later learned they didn’t own it. They were told that the rain follows the farming and it would be there. My family was there during the dust bowl in Missouri. It was hard even on those that knew how to farm and respect your land. My mother told me about wearing the wet scarfs around your nose and month. I love hearing the stories from those in the East and the solutions they were giving on how to stop the dust since it was now getting over to them in the big cities. Like the one that said they should pour cement over the land, leaving holes for planting. Yah, that would work….Nah! They didn’t realize we were talking about 100,000 plus acres. City folks! Anyway, greed destroyed and continues to. Thank goodness for President Franklin Roosevelt! 4. Corporations stopped paying HALF OF THEIR TAXES after the recession.
After paying an average of 22.5% from 1987 to 2008, corporations have paid an annual rate of 10% since. This represents a sudden $250 billion annual loss in taxes.
They’ve passed the responsibility on to their workers. For every dollar of workers’ payroll tax paid in the 1950s, corporations paid three dollars. Now it’s 22 cents.
5. Just TEN Americans made a total of FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS in one year.
That’s enough to pay the salaries of over a million nurses or teachers or emergency responders.
That’s enough, according to 2008 estimates by the Food and Agriculture Organization and the UN’s World Food Program, to feed the 870 million people in the world who are lacking sufficient food.
6. Tax deductions for the rich could pay off 100 PERCENT of the deficit.

10. The American public paid about FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS to bail out the banks.
That’s about the same amount of money made by America’s richest 10% in one year. But we all paid for the bailout. And because of it, we lost the opportunity for jobs, mortgage relief, and educational funding.

I never knew exactly how my father knew how the weather was going to be that day or even for the week but he did. No he didn’t have the weather channel. Must have been something he learned from those before him. In fact, he was usually more accurate than the local TV Channel. Of course, he used the Farmers Almanac, too.
There was a gentlemen in the show that was disking at night for some farm and quit because he knew that they were destroying the land. And, the farmer with Native American heritage told his son it was wrong, picked up the soil and said, “It is wrong side up!” He knew.
It’s safe to say that this probably wouldn’t have happened pre-Sandy. And as part of a larger trend, it perhaps doesn’t bold well for any future national aspirations Christie might have had.
