And CL, another thing it helps with is the small business employer. My daughter has a small business and she can’t afford insurance coverage for her 3 employees but:

Subsidies for small business owners: For businesses with fewer than 25 workers and an annual payroll of less than $50,000, the ACA provides a tax credit to help subsidize the cost of health plan enrollment. Through 2013, the credit will be worth 35 percent of the employer’s insurance costs and supply full credit to employers with less than 10 employers with annual wages of less than $25,000, according to Kaiser. Beyond 2014, the tax credit will extend to 50 percent if the businesses choose a plan under the government’s health care options.

CL, I also heard an attorney say that he thought that they left it like that on purpose because they wanted, without actually pointing fingers, to show that it was going to be overturned but Roberts changed his mind at the last minute. That Roberts had set them up and they were pissed and this was a way to get back at him. I don’t know, just another opinion. But, I wouldn’t put it pass Scalia. He is a AHole! Thomas is just his shadow. (Oh, and I didn’t mean that because of his color! Just that he follows Scalia in everything.)

KT, no kidding. Beck is a fool! I wouldn’t wear a shirt with his face on it no matter what it said. Now toilet paper……..

Funk, isn’t it amazing how those Reds always have a friend that is getting something free from the government and then going on trips to Hawaii or driving a new car. I think they all have that one same friend. Where does the ACA mean you are not providing for your family or that you are getting it for free? It means we all have to take on the responsibility for ourselves as sister claims one should. As far as your son, she counters herself in saying that there must be programs to take care of him when he is older. Sister sounds confused but it comes from seeing Red. I am sure your wife can handle herself with sissy. After all, she lives with you. 🙂

Bito, these guys are crazy and this is making them crazier if that is possible. I can’t believe they are up in the House already spitting their lies! They are calling this decision a major mistake. Oh, ya, well, I think Citizen United has it beat all to hell!
Now the ACA is getting all the attention again in the House. Boehner, where’s the jobs!!

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 4:04 pm

Bito, sounds good to me. Boy, on CSPAN the Repugs are speaking about the ACA in the House today and saying that Obama lied about it being a tax. Who’s to say he hasn’t lied about other things in this law, like do you really get to have your own doctor, etc, etc. Oh hell, this Rep Gohmert R-TX just said that Obamacare takes away religious freedom! These guys are crazy!

Exactly!

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 3:37 pm

I don’t think this was mind reading but DeLong read the decision that was made today. I think it is his opinion of that reading. He does also say that “Is this deliberate–that Scalia wants us to know that his opinion was originally written to be the opinion of the Court? Or is this simply sloppy draftsmanship–chronic laziness at revision?”

KQ did mention that earlier! I like how DeLong picked up on Thomas “joint opinion” when it should have been “joint dissent”. Like we pointed out earlier, too, Thomas will go down in history as uneventful. 😉

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 3:13 pm

I stand corrected and I should have said that the people have already rebelled with the ACA against the insurance companies. The ACA did make it illegal and I knew that and should have phased it differently. The point being that no one should be calling for a rebellion against the nation giving us a health care bill and it being constitutional in its form.

“Was The Supreme Court On The Verge Of Killing Obamacare?”

“Brad DeLong, an economics professor at UC Berkeley, noticed a strange pattern in the Affordable Care Act dissent of Justice Antonin Scalia on Thursday. It seems as if Scalia was originally writing the majority opinion of the court.”
“DeLong points out that Scalia repeatedly refers to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s opinion as a “dissent.” Ginsburg’s opinion differs from the rest of the majority, but she’s still in the majority.
DeLong points out that it also appears that Justice Clarence Thomas forgot to change his original “joint opinion” to a “joint dissent.”

AdLib, sure you are interested…..(I know you aren’t) but “it’s the largest tax increase in the history of the world!”

Rush Limbaugh Completely Melted Down Over The Obamacare Decision

“What has been upheld here is fraud, and the Internal Revenue Service has just become Barack Obama’s domestic army,” Limbaugh said. “That is what we face now. We were deceived. Obamacare was a lie. It was a stealth tax on all Americans, and nobody knew it until today. Not officially. Obama told George Stephanopoulos it wasn’t a tax. And Stephanopoulos was trouble-making for trying to suggest otherwise.”

“Between the Arizona and Obamacare decisions, America is a very different concept than it was just a week ago,” Limbaugh said. “In the United States of America, you either purchase what central authorities tell you to purchase or they will punish you with taxes. In America, states are not allowed to fully protect their citizens from the slow-motion invasion across their borders.”

How quick they forget, Bito. That should be put on a loop and played every time the word mandate is mentioned by a Republican.

KT, it is more like President Kennedy getting stuck with the Bay of Pigs that the Eisenhower’s administration had in place before Kennedy took office. But, Attorney Holder didn’t even know this was going down. Kennedy could have stopped it before. Attorney Holder stopped it once he learned of it.

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 2:16 pm

Hi KT! Yah, that is something for them call for a rebellion over! They are stupid to say something like that!

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 2:10 pm

Does he think he is Patrick Henry?

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 12:44 pm

Rebellion? Gee, just pay the penalty! That will show us! Even tho there isn’t really a penalty. There you go, just refuse to pay that penalty! That will show us…..nah! It’s their health, the fools!

Well, with ACA people will have arms, legs, fingers, hearts and the fight will continue against cancer and other crippling diseases. People will be able to rebel against insurance companies denying coverage because of preexisting conditions including being a female and the battle won for those trying to keep from hardships because of medical bills.

Davis can kiss off!

Is it the end of American as we know it now that the Republicans went crazy? If so, GOOD!

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 12:10 pm

AdLib, I think Obama will get ahead of this and I hope the rest of the Democrats will, too. They need to be better at explaining this than they were in explaining the ACA to begin with. Some will keep far away from it because they are afraid of it in their re-election. It is a real shame that so much of the ACA is still not in effect. That that is, is well received and no one wants to lose it. When they see that this “TAX” isn’t going to be a burden, this will be like Medicare…”Don’t touch my ACA!”

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 12:06 pm

Bito, here is her comment on her Facebook page. She can’t say: “Fuck, I lost” anywhere. But she is a loser!

SCOTUS now rules this is a tax? Well, Congress has the ability to create taxes – and also has the ability to rescind them. Upon their return from the July recess, Congress should act immediately to repeal this terrible new tax on the American people, and indeed they must repeal all of Obamacare. This is the most brazen and sweeping new tax and government overreach imposed on us. We the People did not ask for this tax, we do not want this tax, and we can’t afford this tax. This is not an answer to America’s health care challenges.

Bito, she always looks like she is on downers to me….

» Posted By SallyT On June 28, 2012 @ 11:41 am

Well, here we go… new attack lines the Repugs are starting to use, Obama raised taxes! It may work with Romney’s base but nowhere else. The Democrats will be out there to counter and evidently once enacted, who is going to remember that the SCOTUS called it a tax.

Republicans, despite their newfound dislike of Robert immediately seized on the “Obamacare raises taxes” attack line, and are already raising the specter of the IRS to fire up the conservative base.
