I get very frustrated when people say a lot of people on SSD are frauds. They obviously have never tried to get it. I ended up having to engage an attorney. I am sure someone is getting it that shouldn’t but there aren’t millions. Funny thing about the 401K matter, my daughter who does our taxes was told by them that it would be easier to use the fact that we were behind on our property taxes as the reason for using the 401K than the medical excuse in asking them to re-evaluate the matter. (Being a Teamster we have the best.) Also, my SSD is taxed because of my husband’s wage puts us over the $35,000. My SSD is a good monthly amount because I once was an executive. It is not safe from an IRS lien as we learned. A withdraw from my husband’s 401K was erronous submitted to the IRS because the 401K plan did not report it as a hardship which it was because of my medical condition. So, the government choose to attach my SSD and not my husband. It was easier for them. (We are fighting the IRS but have got nowhere and they liened. Still fighting.) Anyway, I could see that someone could have a spouse on SS and they still working but have no healthcare coverage at their work.
