Patsy, thanks for posting this! I tried to watch it on AlterNet but couldn’t get it to work. Yours appears to play so I will watch it later. Is it anything like the Ethos movie? I only watched the free one you can watch on their website but it did get you thinking. That’s the one that has Woody Harrelson narrating.

» Posted By SallyT On November 14, 2011 @ 7:30 pm

Hell, I still do that while typing on here!

» Posted By SallyT On November 14, 2011 @ 7:21 pm

Wow, Cher, he kept sticking his tongue out more than a lizard in a jar full of flies!

» Posted By SallyT On November 14, 2011 @ 6:52 pm

Wow, Snookie, I knew you would be for Cain. I mean, you just had to go from McCain to Cain. What’s a Mc? McDonald’s?

» Posted By SallyT On November 14, 2011 @ 6:42 pm

LOL, KT, my husband just said, “You know that is who George Carlin admired.” See, our generation was out there bucking the system. Right or wrong some of us got attention with gains realized after we were gone.

» Posted By SallyT On November 14, 2011 @ 2:46 pm

Keep them from voting, that’ll keep them poor. (their idea) Hey, KT, I am watching Lenny on TV, with Dustin Hoffman. Such a big deal over c..ks..king! Oh, times do change.

» Posted By SallyT On November 14, 2011 @ 2:36 pm

Sabreen, I see those guys in the debates carrying chainsaws and axes. They will clear cut the forest and then say, “Where’s the trees? See the Dems over spent again!”

Sue, if you get a chance, watch the movie “Even the Rain”. It is good. Here I copied this about it:
Focuses on Sebastian and Costa, obsessive filmmakers who, in their quest to uncover the myth of Christopher Columbus and resistance to colonial power by Indian rebel Hatuey, ultimately end up embroiled in a modern revolt against Western multinationals in the Bolivian “water wars” brought on by the forced privatization of Bolivia’s leading public water companies in 2000.
Movie also shows you about corporate control of the utilities. Covers allot, Sue. It has subtitles. I usually hate having to read my movies but this is a good one.

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 6:27 pm

Yep, ole Diego was the Spaniard sent to “govern”. Hatuey said about those invading while holding a basket of gold and jewels:
“Here is the God the Spaniards worship. For these they fight and kill; for these they persecute us and that is why we have to throw them into the sea… They tell us, these tyrants, that they adore a God of peace and equality, and yet they usurp our land and make us their slaves. They speak to us of an immortal soul and of their eternal rewards and punishments, and yet they rob our belongings, seduce our women, violate our daughters. Incapable of matching us in valor, these cowards cover themselves with iron that our weapons cannot break…”

After he was captured and nailed to a cross to be burned at the stalk, he was asked by a Spanish Priest if he would accept Jesus and go to heaven. Hatuey the Chief, thinking a little, asked the religious man if Spaniards went to heaven. The priest answered yes… The chief then said without further thought that he did not want to go there but to hell so as “not to be where they were and where he would not see such cruel people. This is the name and honor that God and our faith have earned.”

The above was copied, Sue, I don’t hold the wording in memory but I do the story.

ChoiceLady, it’s like this, if us Native Americans hadn’t fed them, they might have gone home. Probably not and the colonist were going to keep pushing for more. Greed is always there. But, the plans for handling the indigenous people was set way before 1600’s. You just have to look at Diego Velazquez and Hatuey in 1511 to see that the course was set by the conquerors on how to handle indigenous people. Its just that Plymouth Rock was just a rock and not gold that it didn’t happen there. If it had been a rock of gold, the 1% would have been there to get the gold and control the banks. And, they wouldn’t have care about the needy then as well.

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 5:36 pm

You got that right!

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 4:46 pm

What? Lady, go home! And, I think you live in China.

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 4:45 pm

Kt, I have a granddaughter that turned 22 in July. Tell me how that happened? Oh, I know how it happened….but

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 2:52 pm

KT, my husband turned 58 in Oct. (I went for a younger man the second time around) I only look my age and my bones can contest to it. Emotionally, I am the same age as you and Cher. Hell, I think we are triplets from different mothers.

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 2:49 pm

Sue, my baby turned 40 in Oct and my other daughter turns 42 in Dec. I told them they are making me old!

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 2:37 pm

Couldn’t think of anyone better I would like to call sister, my friend.

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 1:12 am

And, you look 29. Generous with praise, is it working?

» Posted By SallyT On November 13, 2011 @ 1:08 am

Sue, on Nov 3rd, I passed 40 by 22 years. So, let me give you a heads-up on what you now can look forward to. I will use Andy’s and add a few.

Women over 60 won’t wake you up in the mid of the night because they are just glad they woke up. They may nudge you and tell you to roll over because you are snoring, however.

Woman over 60 could care less if you want to watch the game and they don’t. We have our own damn TVs to watch whatever we want to in the other room.

Women over 60 aren’t only assured of themselves but by now have enough on everybody else to cause them to kept their mouths shut about you.

Women over 60 don’t give a hoot what you think about us because we can always blame the medication.

Women over 60 don’t shout at the opera or restaurants, well, we don’t think we are shouting but we don’t hear as well.

Shoot the old man, hell no. Why give him an escape!

Women over 60 are still generous with praise and yes it is probably undeserved. But, we ain’t stupid. We know we are going to need you down the line. Best to keep the crap flowing in compliments before the crap flows in your old people diapers.

Women over 60 will introduce their husbands to their friends. Hell, he won’t remember their names tomorrow anyway. And, we certainly don’t care to chase after one of their husbands. You found them, you keep them.

Confess your sins to a woman over 60, why not. She is only hoping that she has shared a few with you. If not, she is then hoping she has more to confess than you have.

Women over 60 and bright red lipstick……well, we sure hope we didn’t paint outside the lines!

Women over 60 don’t worry about wrinkles. Hell, wrinkles have moved on to rolls and folds and arms flapping in the wind.

Women over 60 are still forthright and honest. And maybe a little too much. But we get to blame rudeness on our age! You don’t have to worry where you stand with us because we are probably sitting down anyway.

Women over 60 that get hot flashes only have to move the space heater further away.

Women over 60 get to enjoy their children with their children, our grandchildren. And, laugh our asses off when ours get paid back by theirs. We see our curse of “Hope when you grow up and have children of your own, they are just like you!”

Women over 60 vote because we have seen the good with the bad. We can recognize the difference.

Women over 60 enjoy birthdays. We are thankful for another year past and hope to see the new one all the way through and as many sequels as possible.

Material things aren’t important to women over 60. We have too much junk anyway.

And, women over 60 have 20 more years than those that are 40. More memories to remember and share. And, more people to ask, “How was it in your day?” Women over 60 hope more that they can answer. “Oh, I have wonderful memories. But, it is so much better now.”

Happy Birthday, Sue, and many more to come.

I know, KT. How do we get a cowboy hat on Ted William’s frozen head……….;)

» Posted By SallyT On November 11, 2011 @ 3:53 pm

KT, I knew I could count on you! Now, how do we show a Perry Freeze for my mess up on education? Brain Freeze with a cowboy hat and boots?

» Posted By SallyT On November 11, 2011 @ 3:43 pm

Damn, I had a Perry Freeze and spelled Education like he would!

» Posted By SallyT On November 11, 2011 @ 3:31 pm

Perry should have gone:
“There are three departments of government I would do away with. Commerce, ah ah Eduction and ah ah ah ah ah SQUIRREL!”

I’ll leave it to KT to add the graphics.

» Posted By SallyT On November 11, 2011 @ 3:28 pm

Yes, KT, they can be. I hope his comparison made them realize how selfish they are being in this terrible situation.

Cher, I told everybody on here the night of the debate that Jon Stewart was going to be the winner. Thanks for posting. But, if you have time, post how Jon addressed the students at Penn State. He put comic aside and said something I hope they heard.
