We all know it’s not that easy to find Free Speech Zones which allow for use of language and ideas not always welcomed in genteel circles or sites with a suspected agenda, say, a corporate one such as on KarPalinPost. And not to take away from this fine site, but merely posted as one more Free Speech Zone to add as a quick pit stop on one’s way to your MAIN sites, such as PlanetPOV. The more the merrier, I say. So I recently commandeered the Mixing Desk, one that wasn’t being used by anyone, to use as a way station point to quickly add some things. » Posted By RasputinsLiver On February 25, 2011 @ 8:09 am At A Georgia GOPer Town Hall: “Who Is Going To Shoot Obama?” According to reports (Online Athens, Athens Banner-Herald) at a town hall meeting hosted by republican representative Paul Broun a questioner asked “who is going to shoot Obama?” Apparently Broun inquired at the beginning of the meeting who drove the furthest to get to the event and the “winner” was given the first question which was the question posed above. It is reported then that people up around the questioner and representative enjoyed a good laugh at the question to which, then, the representative avoided confronting the questioner merely in effect agreeing with the questioner had this to say: “The thing is, I know there’s a lot of frustration with this president. We’re going to have an election next year. Hopefully, we’ll elect somebody that’s going to be a conservative, limited-government president that will take a smaller, who will sign a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare.” Well, everyone one here who is outraged, as I (excepting, of course, the obvious birther/bagger/gopers who’ve already posted numerous times that this was merely some good ol’ boy humor and shouldn’t be taken seriously), …. ….just as I’ve done already…. …should call their Senators to lodge a complaint, call the Georgia capitol, call the FBI and call or email the national news outlets to make sure this gets legs on the news (if enough people do this the corporate media may feel enough pressure to air this horrendous story). This is an insult and assault on our nation and the President. These birther/bagger/gopers are nothing short of being the enemy from within all great nationas are warned of. And, of course, the questioner should enjoy a very lengthy visit from local, state and especially federal authorities, the FBI and the Secret Service. If you ever get a hankerin’ to rough an’ tumble it on political and social issues no holds barred and you wanna mess with some cons just for fun check out Slate.com’s site. Specifically their Fray Forums. And one in particular, the Ballot Box I used to post almost exclusively (from ’97 to the previous Winter) on Slate.com’s Fray forum section in the Ballot Box one, aka the Bastard Box, or simply the BB, and for total freedom of speech including the list that Carlin expanded upon over the decades, and full-on rough an’ tumble posted commentary on the net, from one of these type site, why it really beat hell out of most others, while the Slate blog in general managed to retain their high profile status. As they have numerous “chat rooms” for myriad topics, why there’s various spots one could land. However there are on;ly a few that moved along at a good pace, the Bastard Box being the fastest. But Slate’s posting mechanics include continuous bumping up of any threads that are active, even with one post. If it’s posted it’s at the top. And ieven if it falls down the way once a reply is added then it goes back to the top (something I tried to advize HP to do, as well as add not only a positive rating but a negative rating as well, as I see is don ehere with the thumbs). But I found HP not very flexible on any front. All that said, if you want to just vent and have a need for some combative political chatter free from ANY moderation then try the BB. I found it to be fun and allowed me to vent. But also there are some cons that post regularly that are fun to mess with. I say this as having landed here I’m wanting to keep a more civilized tone, whereas I guess I can go to HP to attempt to post snark as that seemed to be the only thing HP’d allow, simple snarkiness. They never really seemed to accept genuine dialogue, particularly when it came to the likes of a Palin, Bush or Cheney and a few of their pet celebs like the Kardashians. But love only goes so far as regards used diapers. Liked grub time with the kids, though. Always fun t watch as a very young one works to feed themselves. Food all over the face.
