Displaying 31 To 43 Of 43 Comments Thanks! Accepted! I’m still a little sensitive on the whole HP debacle. » Posted By Peabody II On February 20, 2011 @ 7:00 pm (Thinking maybe I should stay away from “TO for OT”. It may exceed my ability to comprehend.) …. 😉 » Posted By Peabody II On February 20, 2011 @ 6:54 pm Here’s one of them. My apologies to 2nd if I misunderstood. I just wasn’t able to figure out the context of the repsonse….: 2ndClassCitizenPundit says: I am suspecting the slowness of response has been engineered. I’m talking about the huge backlog of pending posts, the lag for removing *actual* offensive posts, etc. Either AOL is tightening up on anything that might slow down traffic (such as deleting offensive posts, which cuts down on the amount of vitriol)… or they want to clean up the site, which is doubtful, because we are talking about AOL. » Posted By Peabody II On February 20, 2011 @ 6:52 pm Well, simply that. I caught two posts here that read as if someone from AOL or HP was explaining to another member that some of their posts may not have appeared because of the backlogged comments that had to be moderated before posted. That hit my “buttons” because I thought of that, too — before I abandoned HP — and did some tests to determine if that were the case. It wasn’t. Moderators were specifically targeting my highly critical (but civil) posts, but allowing posts containing milder criticism to pass. I wanted to backtrack to the original comments that resulted in the ones I saw to verify the context, but was unable to find a way to do so. Since I suspected that HPAOL would probably attempt something like this, I was compelled to comment without being able to verify context. Sorry if I rang your bell. If you and Chernynkaya think I’m wrong, I’ll accept that and withdraw my commnet. I’m not that skilled with this site, yet, and it’s different (technically/functionally) from the ones I’m used to. » Posted By Peabody II On February 20, 2011 @ 6:41 pm With apologies to Aristotle: — Until the “dumb” people so greatly outnumber the “intelligent” people that there is no hope left. At that point, the “intelligent” can only focus on survival… We passed that point when Reagan was elected, and it’s been snowballing ever since. I’ve seen nothing indicate any change in this direction — including the election of Obama… » Posted By Peabody II On February 20, 2011 @ 6:02 pm Been away for a while… Just dropping in briefly because I’m pressed for time at the moment. It seems that apologists for HP have appeared here, explaining that HP posts were simply delayed by overloads of responses. If I am wrong, nevermind — quit reading and move on. If I am right. I object. I’m an IT pro, and I tracked the progress of my “legal” but critical posts that never appeared regarding the AOL sellout. They were deliberately blocked. What proves HP to be a chickensh*t political manipulator is that they block posts, but they never tell anyone that they have blocked it. They just “disappear” into a black hole. This makes it easy to place the blame on “overloads” or mistakes. I have no doubt that if you asked HP for statistics showing how many messages were blocked in response to specific articles, they would conveniently say “we don’t keep those records.” (Bullsh*t!) …And this tactic will quickly spread to AOL — if it hasn’t already. » Posted By Peabody II On February 20, 2011 @ 5:53 pm For me, #7 is the most significant. Science leans too hard on the idea that we are physical beings, controlled by “neurophilosophy”. Religion leans too hard on us being “spirits” that are controlled by God, or the Devil, or “others”. I believe that humans do not have ideas, we are ideas. That’s what differentiates us from non-humans. (…And non-dogs. 😉 ) » Posted By Peabody II On February 20, 2011 @ 5:33 pm To Kalima: Done that! 😉 Good luck to you! (Already read that page you linked, but thanks!) » Posted By Peabody II On February 22, 2011 @ 5:41 pm I understand. As I said — it was not a complaint. I just try not to make assumptions, and since I don’t have the time to sort through all of the messages that explain your situation, history, and current status. … I apologize for the suggestion. …But you do have some innovative and excellent features on this site. Again, nice work! » Posted By Peabody II On February 22, 2011 @ 5:14 pm Should I have not made them? Was I too demanding? I’m an IT Pro myself. Believe me, I know what takes money — but I don’t know what PlanetPOV’s situation, motivations are. » Posted By Peabody II On February 22, 2011 @ 5:12 pm Thanks! Saved a shortcut to my profile after I found it. That will help! ================ A suggestion to developers — if you haven’t already, check out how Disqus works. It has some serious technical flaws, but its functional design really makes it easy to keep track of the comments of people they like, and check on the status of your own comments. It also makes it very easy to respond to comments. Not complaining — you’ve done a great job here. …Just something to keep in mind with the rest of your objectives, if you wish… » Posted By Peabody II On February 22, 2011 @ 4:01 pm Thanks! I don’t have to slap myself! A nice, original, appropriate acronym that I simply wouldn’t have thought of. Shiny! » Posted By Peabody II On February 22, 2011 @ 3:47 pm I’m a relative newcomer, to both PlanetPOV and WordPress. I’m more used to Disqus (unfortunately) and other discussion systems, so there are some things here that I don’t understand. Two in particular: 1.) Am I correct in concluding that there is no way to be notified of responses to comments you leave, nor to “jump” to directly to postings to see if there have been any responses? (Not a criticism — just want to make sure I didn’t overlook something.) 2.) I’ve looked everywhere I can, resisting the urge to ask this, because I know that as soon as I do, someone will point how stupidly obvious the answer is, and I’ll have to smack myself for being so dumb…. What does the “POV” in PlanetPOV stand for….? » Posted By Peabody II On February 22, 2011 @ 3:25 pmComments Posted By Peabody II
