Gifford’s rehab and the plight of others without access to her level of care

Hi BigDogMom, it’s good to see you here too. We truly have allowed this to happen to us. Unfortunately, even single payer may not take care of our health care access disparity (although it may be superior to the barbarity looming). I find that unless we have serious changes to food subsidy and processing practices, health indicators will continue to show worsening outcomes. Of course, the racket known as health insurance will continue to post profits.

Abby, great post. The type of health care and rehabilitation services that will loom in the future under private insurance and Republican leadership is frightening. Think of the medical/rehab. services available to the ruling family and their cronies in Saudi Arabia. They are able to get the best care in and outside the country. Their people, however, are dealing with underfunded and understaffed public hospitals.

According to fellow graduate students from the country, the average person finds him/herself dealing with gross negligence, poor or inconsistent professional practices, lack of registries (for cancer, liver disease, etc.), and so on.

We will have great health care like what Gifford has received and will continue to receive. However, fewer and fewer people will have access to it while the majority deal with sub-par standards.

50 Ways To Leave Your Blogger

I chuckled at your comment about Tara Teapot. It was spot on. She is obviously an HP plant designed to agitate and throw the course of the discussion. Many people have left since Sunday and the number of responses to the main thread today reflected that.

Great to see you here, creole-girl 😀

Nice to see you here, JRT!

Corporington Post

I felt myself falling into that trap too, Abby. It becomes somewhat addictive to engage in one idiotic thread after another with the likes of Sarah Palin. Much as I tried to steer away from it, it was like watching a train wreck.

No doubt. It was absolutely relentless and I remember wondering if I had stumbled onto Fox some days.

» Posted By Nora On February 7, 2011 @ 8:25 pm

It truly was! Made me so disgusted with the site.

Most were simply making a nuisance of themselves and desperate for attention. You could count on one hand the number who had truly differing opinions, defended in a rational manner.

The viciousness leading up to the midterm elections removed all doubt about its founder’s corporate/conservative allegiance.

» Posted By Nora On February 7, 2011 @ 7:44 pm

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit.

Agreed. I complained so much, I think they’ve blocked my e-mail. I’ve limited deletions as a mod 2 to spam (and mostly in the style section). I’ve had more posts disappear than published in the past month or so.

I think it would pass the auto delete but an HP mod would delete it. I’ve complained about my posts disappearing after publication to no avail.

» Posted By Nora On February 7, 2011 @ 7:23 pm

Most deletions have been done and continued to be done by HP staff.

» Posted By Nora On February 7, 2011 @ 7:18 pm

Agreed.

Thanks, Chernynkaya! It’s great to be here 🙂

» Posted By Nora On February 7, 2011 @ 6:50 pm

No doubt.

Yep. Good to see, Abby.

» Posted By Nora On February 7, 2011 @ 6:49 pm

I will bet that she will still claim it is a progressive site.

» Posted By Nora On February 7, 2011 @ 6:40 pm

Ha! Good to see you again, deygirl.

Oh, lookie here! Even David P. showed up 🙂

Hello, friend and hp refugees.

Mubarak: Half sunk, a shattered visage lies

Looking forward to your update.

» Posted By Nora On February 10, 2011 @ 2:09 pm

Indeed.

» Posted By Nora On February 10, 2011 @ 2:06 pm

He most certainly did. Perhaps even a week ago, people would have accepted this torturer as a temporary figurehead until elections. With this defiant and arrogant speech to be followed with Suleiman’s creepy, rage-under-the-surface speech, he committed a grave mistake. I think he wants a bloodbath amongst protesters, military, and police/secret service.

» Posted By Nora On February 10, 2011 @ 2:04 pm

How rich it is to hear a torturer invoking civilized and peaceful discourse. I didn’t think for one moment that Mubarak would be so delusional and arrogant to give that speech. What a nightmare.

The shouts of ‘islamic’ and ‘extremist’ have gained a fever pitch there now.

Time Out for O/T – Vol. 15

Well said. This is the type of voter segment in Wisconsin that you don’t want to piss off. Their figures may be small in comparison to the total but they can and will mobilize.
