There were no numbers, it was random or a recruiting Sargent could get you drafted. Which is what happened to me. I do agree that if there was no way for the rich or family members of politicians to avoid it, I could possibly support it. As for women and the draft? I feel women are equal to men and should have to sign for the draft like men do now. I don’t see it happening though. By the way CCR was one of the best. However, we draftees were just as good or better soldiers as the regular army volunteers were. That of course is my opinion. I do have some reasons for that opinion though. Most of the guys I served with were drafted and served with distinction. Many of the regular army soldiers joined to get out of serving jail time. So today I have great respect for our military folks because they are all volunteers. I believe the Turks should be the boots on the ground because they are there and being attacked. We can help with bombing and other air attacks. But the indigenous people have to do the fighting on the ground. The Iraqi army is not doing what they were trained to do. Giving up their arms and equipment to ISIS and digging their own graves!?!
You don’t see Americans doing that.
