AB, unfortunately there is not a lot of “brave” congress folks. Gun control will not pass because too many members of congress are beholding to the NRA and other “special interests groups”.

Corruption is too ingrained in congress. We need more people like my Senator Bernie Sanders. He is beholding to us and NOT the NRA.

Audadvnc, I have always wondered and asked what happens when the void created by pumping oil out of the earth gets so big? Does it collapse and cause an earthquake? In the ocean does sea water flow in and fill the void?

I have never gotten an answer.

I find it hard to believe that any American could deny the civil rights of other Americans. What makes one person better than another? Why can’t gays marry? Are they second class citizens? I say NO ! Gays are equal to straights just as blacks and whites are equal. A gay marriage doesn’t diminish a straight marriage.

The Vermont legislature is considering a “Prius” tax due to the lower revenue from the gas tax. It seems they want to penalize people who are trying to do the right thing and use less fossil fuel. I am usually proud of Vermont and our legislature. But on this issue I am embarrassed by their actions. If they pass the “Prius”tax I will be upset. Next they will want to tax “solar arrays”.

They do also want to tax trucks that run on natural gas.

Patsy, I don’t mean to brag but I;v had a solar array 4.5 years and love not paying an electric bill. 29 KWH yesterday 15 today. Wish more people did it too.

Patsy, I’m here in Vermont. We have a 41 year old nuclear plant that the NRC licensed last year without even inspecting it. The plant used to be a safely run place until Entergy bought it. They have allowed it to deteriorate and the NRC has let them get away without doing the necessary repairs.

The link above is of interest because the NRC is NOT doing its job.
The NRC is the only entity that can regulate safety of the nuclear industry and it is lax in doing that job.

Sally , it is happening all over again with Syria ! The main stream media is all over starting another WAR because the President said his “red line” was the use of chemical weapons. The UN should take the lead with Syria! We have more than enough on our agenda. We can’t even know for sure if they have used any “weapons of mass destruction”.

AB, nixon was almost as evil as cheney and “w”. I spent 1969 in Vietnam and I have had to live with that experience ever since.

I care about all the dead, wounded, and mentally disturbed due to these WARS! Their families and those of the “enemy” and innocent Iraqis and Afghans have also been affected by these immoral WARS.

So very many lives have been changed due to WAR. As far as I’m concerned cheney and “w” will get their justice in the after life. (note the lack of respect for them by lower case letters.)

I know there is a lot of money involved in WAR, but we could do something constructive with that money instead of destructive.
Our infrastructure, medicine, technology, clean energy, and so many other things could bring jobs and revenue to sustain America.

Sally, it baffles me that the GOP is still disrespecting half of all Americans. Do they think they will get our votes by insulting us? Do they realize that many of us are older and voters, minorities and voters, young and voters?

Kalima, Chris Christie is the only republican with any sanity. I do worry about his health. Saw him on the news talking and he is nearly as big around as he is tall. I do respect him above all others.

Glenn, you thoughts are valid. My point was that they never cared about the deficit before. Is this “deficit hawk” stuff just to be contrary ?

I wonder why the republicans have become deficit hawks so suddenly? Could it be an extension of the idea that Obama should have been a one term president? Is it a tantrum they are having?

I think that is exactly what this is. A tantrum! They don’t care about the deficit. They never have. They just don’t like out President and they will hurt regular Americans to hurt the President.

That is my opinion , what is yours?

CL , we may be siblings from different parents. Our parents had the same values. I’m here in Vermont and we seem to have a lot of people here who have similar feelings.

I was driving to the airport to pick up my daughter and her family with her car and the radio was on with Rush . You wont believe it but he said that if he was President he would use the “bully pulpit” and he can’t understand why Obama isn’t ?!?

What is Limblah thinking? President Obama is using the “bully pulpit” and quite effectively, in my opinion.

I wonder if Limblah is just dreaming about being President or if he is planting a seed in the minds of those ill informed listeners of his?

BTW I didn’t misspell limblah blah blah.

There are not many time that I hate something, but the buzzword “entitlements” is one thing I hate!
How about cutting the “entitlements” for the rich as in their tax loopholes that only the filthy rich can take advantage of.
NOT the Social Security (entitlements) which we paid into for all those years.

Our First Lady is wonderful! The “news” is talking about how she was wrong to do the Oscars and appear on TV shows. I think the “news” ought to report the news and leave the First Lady alone.

After all, if you don’t want to watch her you can change the channel. I don’t care about the Oscars so didn’t see it until it was on the “news”.
I just wish she could be on the TV more , she is a beautiful woman with a great message for all of us.
