Ad, I hoped that we had overcome racist behavior by now. Maybe within our childrens lifetime it will happen. So far we have made some progress, but not enough. IMO.

I was a deficit hawk way before the Teapublicans decided they were. The difference is I want to close loopholes for corporations and filthy rich folks (those who have more money than many countries do). Not on the backs of the poor, working poor, and middle income workers.

There is plenty of waste in the government and that should be eliminated. But today we need to invest in our infrastructure and education. Investing like that will create jobs and increase revenue at the same time.

Ad, I couldn’t agree more! The NRA is a terrorist group. Supported by the MIC and other gun manufacturers.

Another shooting at a college in VA. Two women shot.

when will the senseless shootings end?

» Posted By Nirek On April 12, 2013 @ 1:04 pm

Sally, I agree, it’s not right to cut SS for anyone. Social Security has nothing to do with the deficit! People less fortunate than me would be hurt for no reason.

I signed one of those petitions.

I don’t like some of the Presidents budget. That said I’ll give up my so called “increase” in Social Security as long as the rich loose their “loopholes”!

I doubt that the tea publicans will pass the budget anyway.

Jes, Foodchain said Barbra Eden too. I have to agree with Food!

» Posted By Nirek On April 10, 2013 @ 1:56 pm

I bet KT will say both like me.

» Posted By Nirek On April 9, 2013 @ 8:21 am

Ad, she also called Nelson Mandela a “terrorist” which he was NOT.

» Posted By Nirek On April 9, 2013 @ 8:17 am

KT, you and I and thousands of other guys our age.

90+% of Americans want background checks for any gun purchase, Sally. That speaks volumes !

The NRA owns Mitch. I think that he is corrupt and should be brought up on charges of corruption and collusion.

» Posted By Nirek On April 9, 2013 @ 5:00 am

I just heard that Mitch McConnell said “there will be no vote on background checks”. I pray that the good people of Ky. vote this guy out! There are several Senators who say they will filibuster any bill that comes up for vote on gun control.

These people are despicable! Every one of them is a coward!

Ad, you speak for me on this one. She and Ron Raygun hurt the world. Neither of them have my respect.

» Posted By Nirek On April 8, 2013 @ 3:26 pm

Kes, he reminds me of the Nazi regime. He wants people to work so he and his can enjoy life. He sure is not acting like an American.

» Posted By Nirek On April 7, 2013 @ 1:43 pm

Kes, wouldn’t it be nice if he did what he said in that rant?
I’m betting he lives beyond his means and doesn’t help family members. Also I bet he has poor eating habits and probably smokes and drinks too much.

In other words he is a hypocrite !

» Posted By Nirek On April 7, 2013 @ 9:27 am

Kes, I am proud that we dispersed them without hurting any of them. They were angry with good reason. Many of my fellow soldiers were black men and did their jobs even though they would have liked to join the rioters.

It was a horrible time. MLK was a great man of peace. I admire him for that more than any other thing he did. Not to diminish all that he did.

CL, we lived through hard times and only want the best for our kids and theirs.
I’m not sure I have guilt but I do think about the Vietnamese people I shot and wonder who is taking care of their families?

Food, thanks for the kind words. I had my Mom and Dad to come home to. Dad heard me while having a nightmare and woke me . He made me talk about my experience and he shared his in WWII and Korea. He had never talked about his experience before. His wisdom in making me talk has made my life better. I don’t suffer from PTSD. Just ringing in my ears and diabetes from agent orange 6 years now. (not Boehner)

Dad gave me a great gift when he stayed up all that night talking with me. I miss him.

» Posted By Nirek On April 6, 2013 @ 2:25 pm

Kes, that night I was sent with the rest of the 6th Armored Cavalry to DC and disperse the rioters and we did the job without hurting anyone. The next year I was sent to Vietnam (infantry, draftee).

I’m proud of dispersing the rioters. Vietnam, not so much.

» Posted By Nirek On April 5, 2013 @ 3:18 pm

Thanks, Kes.
I’ll have to pay 4500 before they start on the other side of the doughnut hole.
Probably have to get a loan like a car loan.

» Posted By Nirek On April 5, 2013 @ 2:49 am

I don’t understand it fully but I just landed in the doughnut hole. A medicine my wife takes and usually costs under ten dollars cost me almost $300 for 60 pills. If any of our other meds go up like that I’ll go from middle class to poor in about a year.

Ad, we do have some in the congress who fight for us. Bernie Sanders is leading that fight and making some gains. Peter Welch is also working on our behalf. Both of them , I’m proud to say are from Vermont. I voted for them, too.

» Posted By Nirek On April 3, 2013 @ 3:25 am

I apologize in advance for the rant that follows.

How can America be in such deep trouble when 99% of Americans can outvote the 1% and make the changes necessary? Our economy is up side down with debt and a tax system that is unfair to the 99%! We do the work that benefits the 1% while they sit back and deposit their ill gotten gains in off shore accounts.

The pay structure is out of whack! The guy at the top (CEO) is paid hundreds of times more than the people who do the work that keeps the corporation afloat. No one person works hard enough to warrant such pay.

I could go on but will end now with a question. Who earns his pay? A CEO or exec,or a person doing the work that makes the company running?

» Posted By Nirek On April 2, 2013 @ 3:58 pm

Sally, it never surprises me how greedy some corporations are. Entergy and Exxon are two of the greediest !

» Posted By Nirek On March 31, 2013 @ 3:47 pm

An accident in Arkansas at a nuclear plant owned and operated (incompetently) by Entergy, a GREEDY corporation.

That CEO reaps the benefits that the workers lose by NOT being full time employees. JUST WRONG!

» Posted By Nirek On March 30, 2013 @ 1:14 pm

Sally, it is obscene that anyone is paid that much more than the people who actually do the work. Administrators are grossly overpaid, in my humble opinion. CEO’s more so than any other administrators.

AB, I was born here. Lucky, huh. We welcome folks from anywhere as long as they are good folks.

» Posted By Nirek On March 29, 2013 @ 2:57 pm

Kalima, they are cowards. Scared of the wrath of the NRA.

» Posted By Nirek On March 29, 2013 @ 2:33 pm

LFer, what has more lives than a cat?
A frog, it croaks every night.

Sorry.
