Why should the Tea Party or any other political Party get tax exempt status?

They claim nonprofit status? They are there for the profit of their Tea Party candidates. That is NOT nonprofit.
I think that the IRS employees who scrutinized them were correct to do that.

Ad, lots of people have ideas that could work to save our environment. Plants that glow seems like an off the wall idea but if it works , I am all for it.

GOP obstructionism.

Ad, why not use solar for traffic lights? Street lights?

» Posted By Nirek On May 9, 2013 @ 5:53 pm

Too funny! (“If dingle berries were diamonds , I could open up a Kay jewelers in my pants”)

Where is the outrage for the loss of thousands of American service men/women? Where is the outrage for the loss of many thousands of innocent Iraqis and Afghans?

These GOPers are out of touch !

How much oil, coal, and nuclear energy could we save by using solar to power street and traffic lights? The highway department already uses solar powered work signs. So lets take it another step. Lets subsidize schools electric bills with solar panels on their roofs.

Instead of burning oil or coal,or creating more nuclear waste we could use the sun ( you know that big ball of bright light in the sky) to power so many of our lights and other things we use all the time.

I have not paid an electric bill since September 2008! My solar array makes 120% of my electricity. The extra goes into the grid for some neighbor to use because of net metering. I think 2 more years and it will have paid for itself. Then the savings will be mine.

Done, Patsy. Also commented in favor of solar which doesn’t pollute!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/06/palisades-nuclear-plant-entergy_n_3225243.html

Patsy, this plant has been leaking for a year now.
The NRC is the problem! They are the only entity that can regulate the nuclear industry for safety. Corruption and collusion are too prominent and no one is regulating the regulators.

Entergy is the owner of the plant in the story and Vermont Yankee, also leaking.

Stay strong.

Patsy, I tried to sign but can’t donate and it would not let me sign without donating. Sorry. Fixed income and falling behind.

KT, that is an accurate picture of the radical right wing of Christianity. However it is a minority of Christians, in my opinion.
I think the radical religious of any religion is wrong. They corrupt their own good books. Pick and choose the parts of the bible they like and ignore the rest. The radicals of Islam is not much different than our home grown terrorists. That is what they are. Terrorists. They terrorize those Americans who don’t subscribe to their ideals.

Those religious who follow Christ and his peace loving ways are many. They care for the poor. They care for the underprivileged. They help those in need. They turn the other cheek very much like Christ.

It is the people who pervert religion who are the terrorists.

Kes, it is a lack of any sense, common or otherwise. To deny that Sandy Hook even happened is just stupid. To claim it was staged is beyond STUPID.
Ignorance is sad.
This is why we need education.

Incredible!

What ails people giving a gun to a five year old and not supervising him? This little boy shot and killed his two year old sister. I feel certain it was an accident. However , he never should have had access to any gun without supervision.

This used to be something the NRA used to do. Teach gun safety. Now , not so much. All they are concerned with is their right to bare arms. I don’t know anyone who wants to ban guns completely. We want to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists and mentally ill people.

It seems to me that the NRA has given over to its radical right wing. It has lost its way. Sadly the NRA has forgotten its basic rule. Safety first.

» Posted By Nirek On May 4, 2013 @ 4:41 am

The NRA is meeting and they are lying about the victims of the Boston bombing. They say the victims are faking! Among other lies. I think the leaders of the NRA are despicable.

» Posted By Nirek On May 4, 2013 @ 4:15 am

Maybe he is trying that on some issues.

» Posted By Nirek On May 2, 2013 @ 4:23 pm

Some GOPers just do not want anything the President is in favor of to become law. Even if they want the same thing. Crazy? Yes, but more than that it is prejudice! They can’t get past the fact that President Obama has been re-elected, say nothing of being elected the first time.

This kind of hate is intolerable in my opinion. I sure hope that these people get elected out of office. I wonder if there is any way to impeach those who voted against enhanced background checks?

» Posted By Nirek On May 2, 2013 @ 1:08 pm

Kalima, I would add that our congress has more time away from their duties than any other job I have knowledge of. They are on another week off, now. After quickly passing the law that allows the air traffic controllers to go back to work full time (so they could fly out easily) at the expense of the upgrading of airports.

» Posted By Nirek On May 1, 2013 @ 3:44 pm

Kalima, I believe there is too much collusion and corruption in politics. It is prevalent in both parties but seems to be more popular in the GOP.
Of course that is my opinion.

Here in my little town there is a guy I don’t care for. So I leave him alone. No harassment or worse (shooting). Why can’t we all do this. If you don’t like someone , just ignore them. There is no need for violence.
The same goes for countries.

History will NOT be kind to “w”. He will be shown as the worst president ever. Doing more harm to America than any other.

» Posted By Nirek On April 25, 2013 @ 11:29 am

Isn’t it strange that the federal prosecutors have funds to prosecute
cancer patience for using pot, but they don’t have funds to prosecute those Brady law breakers?

» Posted By Nirek On April 25, 2013 @ 3:45 am

Patsy, thanks for all the info. I live in Vermont and we have a 41 year old nuclear plant that has many problems. Way more nuclear waste stored than is supposed to be. Small accidents and and we know they lead to larger accidents.
Even former leaders of the NRC are saying that this plant Vermont Yankee owned by Entergy (a greedy corporation). The plant was owned by Vermont but was sold with the condition that it close at the end of its forty year life. Entergy has allowed the plant to deteriorate and lied to the state and courts to keep it opened past its safe life time.

Here in Vermont we are committed to clean, renewable energy. A goal of 70% renewable in less than ten years. I personally have a solar array that makes 110% of my power. Net metering puts the extra into the grid. I love it. 4.5 years of no electric bills!

The NRC seems to me to be in cahoots with the nuclear industry. They seem to care more about the profits of the industry that they are supposed to regulate for safety than they do for the people.

Good luck with your effort.

Kes, thanks. I know that these people should have their rights to representation. Heck, I even agree with you on this issue. I guess I just needed to vent.

As far as the white collar crooks go, they are coddled. The harm they do to folks they may not even know is devastating to those victims. Seems wrong to me that they either get off or go to a country club for a short time. Restitution should be made.

As for the rape victims. Why should they be taken to task for their actions when they are the victims? I agree the bad guys should have rights, but those rights should NOT supersede the rights of the victims.

» Posted By Nirek On April 20, 2013 @ 12:33 pm

I am tired of the killers and terrorists having more rights than the victims. I think our justice system has gone too far the wrong way. Victims of rape, a violent crime are raked over the coals in court. What is right about that. They are the victims. The rapist is given all kinds of rights. Same goes with killers of innocent people. The two brothers who bombed the Boston marathon and killed and maimed innocent people, in my opinion gave up their rights when they did it. The surviving brother will have all kinds of rights. What happens to all the victims? Their rights are superseded by the bad guys. I think that is wrong!

I also think white collar crooks should have to make restitution as well as do hard time. No country club prisons for them. They hurt so many innocent people.

If I’m wrong please set me straight. I honestly feel the justice system has gone too far in protecting the crooks.

This is the first time I have seen so many police in one area. And such a large area closed down. This may be the best way to get the suspect. I pray that nobody else is hurt in the Boston area because of this terrorist.

» Posted By Nirek On April 19, 2013 @ 3:48 am

Kes, don’t quote me , but I think it is a procedural thing. By voting nay , he can bring it to a vote again later.
If I’m wrong then shame on him.

» Posted By Nirek On April 17, 2013 @ 2:43 pm

I am disgusted with the GOP obstruction of the “background check” bill!

» Posted By Nirek On April 17, 2013 @ 1:41 pm

Hate is an awful thing. It’s too bad that those who have hatred in their hearts can’t channel it into a productive action.

» Posted By Nirek On April 15, 2013 @ 3:27 pm

Sally, I too am sorry for your loss. Close friends are a blessing to us. Those who can read your mind and make you feel better without prying are rare.

I’m sure your friend will be missed. Take heart, some day you may well meat again.
