Ad, you have a way with words. I wish I could string them together as well as you do. We say the same thing but when you say it it seems so elegant.

Halliburton has plead guilty to destroying evidence in the oil gusher in the Gulf of Mexico 2010.

My question is why , if corporations are people, are they not in jail?
Oh, I know why. Halliburton is a “rich” person (corporation). We all know that the “rich” are treated different from the regular folks. They can buy their way out of trouble. Let me be blunt, Halliburton is a corrupt corporation! Not a person, many people working collectively to form a corporation. The top guys (deciders) should do some hard time for their corrupt actions. In my opinion.

Sally, be careful with finances and you will be okay. Good for him. I also have two new knees 2 years now and they are better than the old ones but still not great.

Rapist are almost as bad as murders. There should not be a statute of limitations on rape. After a woman has suffered an attack by a “man” (real men respect women) she may have to wrestle with the thought of being made to relive the rape many times and in public court. She is unfairly scrutinized for her past while the rapist is allowed to cover his past bad acts.

It is time for the law to take care of victims of violent crimes.

Watching Candy Crowley and her show “State of the Union”. I am going to boycott her show if she doesn’t stop having John McCain on every time. I am sick of seeing him and a few others like Newt ! They are out of touch with real people.

Sue, I have a 13 year old granddaughter and if she were attacked like that I would hunt them all down and make citizen arrests. They might even be slightly hurt before I got control of them.

Sue, every one of them should be jailed and have to pay some restitution $$$. Even that is not enough. The girl is strong to report it and testify.
I am ashamed of the males (can’t call them men). A real man would have stopped it from happening.

After listening to our President, I am very proud that I voted for him twice!

He is close in my eyes to Nelson Mandela, MLK, and Rosa Parks. I believe they all will be looked at in favor by history.

Yesterday was the 95th birthday of one of the greatest humanitarians in my lifetime. Nelson Mandela forgave his tormentors but never let them forget what they did to him. He is among a very few people turn the other cheek and use his experience for the good of mankind.

I admire him and wish him good health. (hope he doesn’t suffer)

Ad, I agree. But it just irks me that we are not taking care of this place we live on. I doubt God is very pleased with us for many reasons. Hatred , greed, pollution, and any number of other faults we humans have. Mother Earth,God, or whatever anyone believes in can’t be happy with our ways.

Sense this is the place for off topic thoughts , here I go.
We humans have NOT done a good job as stewards of this planet EARTH. We allowed too much pollution. We have allowed too many large GREEDY corporations to profit to the detriment of Mother Earth. Now we are paying the price, suffering from extreme heat where we never had this much before. Wild fires, floods, extreme temperatures, twisters, and hurricanes to come.

It is time to regulate corporations, to conserve ( not to be confused with conservatives), to reuse,re-purpose, and recycle.

Switch over to reusable energy like solar and wind.

Okay , I’ll get off my high horse now.

At the risk of sounding like the “old fart” that I am, can anyone explain what a “hash tag” is and what it means and does? I keep hearing “hash tag” this and that. I admit I just got a cell phone last year from Consumer Cellular (basic phone) I am a retired telephone lineman and am not into the new stuff.

You will find that Adlib is excellent at writing, Assumed. More often than not I agree with Adlib. I bet you will like it here on the planet. I for one hang out here in the off topic area because I often have a comment off topic.

Welcome to the planet, Assumed name. I would say that a few of the states are more unfriendly to minorities than they should be in this century. We here in Vermont are very friendly and welcoming. We are one of the whitest states but the minorities we have here are equals.
I for one can’t understand why FL and TX and some others are so bent on discriminating against nonwhite people or females.

Enjoy those cookies, I just had a piece of tart my wife of forty years made me today.

Murph,it seems you are correct at least in some of the red states. I for one will stay out of Fl. and Tx. for a couple examples.
In Fl. some nut job can shoot you if you have a pack of skittles and are walking in the rain. There is no justice in that state.
In Texas you can take a gun into the state house, but women can’t bring maxi pads?

I’ll stay here in Vermont where sanity still reigns.

I love it when women fight back, Kesmam. Women are stronger than most men give them credit for. This young lady makes me proud to be a male and a feminist. I have no problem admitting that women are equal to or even better than men. (in some cases like almost all the GOP men)

Kalima, I believe that the “Citizens United” ruling is the worst thing that has happened to America. Corporate greed has gotten worse since that ruling.
Corporate greed unchecked will be the end of the greatest nation ever.

It is hard for me to think America will fail to fix this problem, but the corporations are international and have no allegiance America.
