Did Perry leave the room?

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 6:37 pm

Yup. There are things there worth emulating but not enough to make a huge difference.

A model for the nation?

Gingrich….look at the College of the Ozarks…..

As a model for a small college…..it works and works well.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 6:25 pm

College of the Ozarks per Gingrich.

Know it well.

It works.

Peoria is in Illinois and its taxes are real since the state regards its obligations as real…..

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 6:22 pm

AND WHERE HAS THE DEBT COME FROM?

80 percent from three GOP admins before Obama: Reagan Bush I and II.

And Obama, paying the bills which have come due thanks to Bush II.

And virtually no workplace standards, zero zoning laws, and very cooperative local permitting officials.

Rick…Caterpillar Moved to Your State because Your Texas Enterprise Fund paid them to do this AND you promised them ridiculously low taxes because in your state education, fire fighting, roads, police are all discretionary expenses.

AND….then he blows one of his pre-planned talking points and cannot recover.

Brain Freeze.

Working across party lines…..to solve the deficit issue…

How do we do this when everyone on the stage has said they would oppose any revenue increase involving taxes…Want to bet no one will give an inch on this?

I repeat….NOT ONE HAS MADE A SINGLE POINT ABOUT HOW MEDICAL COSTS ARE DRIVEN BY THE PROFIT WHICH IS MADE IN INSURANCE, BIG PHARMA, AND MEDICORPS.

The Occupy Movement might as well be on another planet.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 6:04 pm

These guys talk about the free market but the Big Corporations in Housing, Medicine, Banking, Investing have been playing the insider game very well….thus the huge profit margins for most. The fix is in…but these mopes will not, because they must not, point it out.

You are very quick and very right.

“Princess Nancy” comment from Cain….given the current kettle of fish he is swimming in….not smart.

Housing Reality. Dems wanted to have lots more people in homes, unions working : their base. GOP wanted lots of homebuilders, realtors, banks happy: their base. Freddie and Fannie operated on the commonly accepted principle…..every home will be worth more the day after it is bought.

So…..how will the GOP handle this……

Gingrich- End Dodd Frank….way too much regulation on small banks (what he means is big banks and investment houses)

Romney- Take care of housing by improving the economy; by letting foreclosures go ahead, destroying the biggest investment in most people’s lives. Markets work he says. NO-they do not. Fannie and Freddie were a joined GOP/Dem effort.

Perry: Drilling is the road to paradise. Does not understand the global commodities market. Deregulate everything….that worked so well in 2008….NOT.

Bachmann: More foreclosures. Pull Fannie and Freddie out of the equation. Let bankruptcy go forward.

Gingrich: His firm got money for advice to the Bush administration in which he suggested the bubble would burst. He did.

Cain: Fix real problem. The Economy through 999. Regulators out of the way. Small and medium sized banks freed by getting them out of the way. Privatize.

Let’s take a vote: How many think Perry is just a dolt!

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 5:35 pm

He has 300 million or thereabouts, isn’t that that the middle….he says he is an every day guy.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 5:31 pm

Bachmann cannot answer a question re. tax code changes switches to going to the job makers to get the answers and blaming the poor. Cold hearted witch.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 5:30 pm

Romney: Profits are not going to the wealthy and the powerful. Executives do not unfairly benefit from the rush for profitability.

WHAT?

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 5:22 pm

Perry- America will go it alone…..we are the best…..we will be back….What was the question?

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 5:10 pm

Huntsman is so bright….most of the GOP voter bases cannot begin to understand his reasoning.

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 5:05 pm

What to watch for tonight:
The Cain Mutiny (or Muddle)
The Mitt Romney Pile On (No bail out for the auto industry)
The Obama Pile On (the Stock Market Fell Today, All O’s fault)
Perry’s Performnance (Sleepy, Dopey, Angry)
Huntsman Gaining Momentum as the Not Mitt Not Newt Candidate

» Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 9, 2011 @ 5:03 pm

Why the Media Don’t Get Obama’s Campaign

Adnext….I sent the link to your article to three of the OFA organizes (field managers) and they loved it. One of them left this comment: “I think this guy’s been at our strategy meetings. He’s reading us like a book.”

High praise.

The downside of the GOP’s reliance on Big Money for Big Media is that once that strategy is exposed (as it was in Iowa) then the Big Media does not work to convert the swing voters who assume they are being conned. Without a real grassroots organization the GOP finds itself without troops to win the battles.

You hit the nail squarely on the head….what will win for Obama in 2012 (and hopefully for enough other Dems to expand control of the Senate and to win back the House) is that combination of his persona, his (far from perfect but quite strong) record, and the organizing on the ground.

I worked for the campaign as a so-called super-volunteer in 2008 in SC, NC, GA, TX and know how good these folks are.

Appreciate your work in putting this all together.

Hi AdLib-

Before I get to my comment…..I would really welcome your keen eye re. my most recent contribution. You have one of the best minds her re. strategy and tactics. Things are popping in the background. I need as much wisdom as I can gather.

NOW….I am one of those OFA volunteers. I worked for the campaign from 2006 to 2008. I did a lot of neighborhood organizing. Now I am dong a lot of on-line and phone work. I now live in a heavily GOP state in a rural area so time on the ground here is not so smart. Thus the campaign is using me at a distance. Right now what I do is speak with highly involved, high influence volunteers from 2008 to get them linked back up to the campaign. So far, my experience mirrors yours. Folks are smart. They know who is at the root of our problems. AND it’s not Obama.

Out of 138 phone calls to date, I have had 109 “yes’s” and 15 “probabably’s” That means I only got 14 “No’s.”

Love the way you put things together.
