Things are turning nasty very fast. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 6, 2011 @ 2:31 pm Admin….. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 6, 2011 @ 1:57 pm AdLib And I posted an article for admin review yesterday and all of the fixes and work arounds for image posting etc. worked fine. I had to do some of them more than once to make them “take” but no permanent road blocks. Hate working in the html mode but I have learned to live with it. Given the events in Oakland, the Vision article is getting a lot of private attention. I am hoping that when it publishes here at the Planet it will attract a number of the activists to this site. BTW- confused democrat is one of those I recommended this site to. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 6, 2011 @ 10:43 am As you know I had this issue. Your clear the cache and cookies worked. I also use http://www.ghostery.com/ as a tracker system on my Mac. I put the PPOV address into its tracklist for my subscription and I have not had the problem since. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On November 6, 2011 @ 9:49 am I will contact Word Press at the end of the month and see what they have to say. I am also pushing Apple on this. I appreciate the help. Perhaps my work-around will be of use to someone else in the future. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 27, 2011 @ 5:30 am Ad Lib I spoke with the folks at AppleCare Support on Monday about this and they referred the matter to a system’s specialist. Got a call yesterday late afternoon from the specialist. She said that this glitch has been reported to them before and that there is an open file on the matter in their system. She suggested that WordPress might be a better source. The WordPress live support team returns on October 29. I will pursue this then. In the meantime, the work around looks like it will work. I was able to duplicate the changing of the two graphic files for my Afghan article from graphic format into pdf and have tracked it down to a setting in my preferences which I need to manually turn off when I am sending an image. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 26, 2011 @ 5:23 am Cher…. Uh Oh! Do you think the Right has managed to sneak gremlins onto our Planet? Seriously, have no idea how to do this but wish you the best. I have figured out a work around so that I can post without being stumped. No idea what the root cause is, but the work around does what the system is supposed to do with a couple of extra steps. Cheers. MTS » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 25, 2011 @ 4:04 pm Ad Lib or Kalima….any thoughts on my work around? » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 24, 2011 @ 8:06 pm AdLib and Kalima…. Just submitted a post for “review” which has all images working using a work around I designed from hints on line. I copied the post already and put it into my POV folder on my desktop. We will see if the work around holds. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 24, 2011 @ 7:57 am Just went to the WordPress support site. Closed until October 29. The issue of the visual and html tabs not being visible can be found at a number of spots on that site. The consistent answer is: Navigate to Admin/Users/Your Profile and ensure that “Disable the visual editor when writing” is unticked. BUT, there followups that say this solution does not work (as in my case) go unanswered. ======================== On the user forums this answer appears quite often: Users > admin > edit Users > Your Profile If you still have problems, deactivate all your plugins in case one is interfering with things. ======================== Remember the trouble we had getting me registered at the site…is there a connection? » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 24, 2011 @ 7:14 am I see you all put one of your photos into the Afghanistan article. It has not published yet but I am going to leave it as is. The article was a real work of love. I pulled together a lot of my reading to create it and hope it gets some real attention here. I would like for the “wise” to weigh in and push on it. It is an interpretation which is not widely discussed. Let me know when it will publish. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 24, 2011 @ 6:59 am That was a download from wikimedia which was then uploaded from my computer to Planet POV. I have downloaded images before without a problems but not this time. My computer is a MacBook Pro. Operating System OSX » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 24, 2011 @ 6:52 am Navigate to Admin/Users/Your Profile and ensure that “Disable the visual editor when writing” is unticked. ======================= Did not work. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 10:37 pm Chernynkaya Thanks for those. I will spend time if we can solve the fact that I do not have the visual/html tabs which are the key to it all. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 10:25 pm This is from the Word Press Forum: I need help because the HTML/Visual tabs (I think those are what the two options are) have never been an option I’ve had. These are the tabs when writing a new post that appear in the top right corner of the text box. These options make the button to bold appear from “strong” with arrows around it to a bold capital B, like this: B, which is much more like the editor in Word. So, can anyone tell me how to make that happen? It’s be nice to see a word italicized instead of having to ignore the code that surrounds a word I want italicized. Do you get my meaning? Thanks for the help! Reply: Navigate to Admin/Users/Your Profile and ensure that “Disable the visual editor when writing” is unticked. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 10:22 pm Just sent you a screen shot. I don’t have access to the visual mode. That seems to be the issue. No idea why. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 10:18 pm No visual or html tab. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 10:07 pm To your last message…well accept the kudos anyway. I do a lot of volunteer work as well and the work is its own rewards. As to my president….worked for three years to get Obama elected and am working hard now for the second term » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 9:20 pm Yes, I see it now. It just clicked. If I cannot see the words as they will appear, boldface/underlined/italic, but only see the symbols, then I am on html and should be on visual. Yes? BUT, I appear not to have that option on my page. Neither word appears where the forum image shows it should be- to the right of the Upload/Insert bar. I have gone to the WordPress forum and there is some discussion about this but most of it is over my head. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 8:21 pm AdLib or Kalima What mode should wordpress posting page be in? Html or Visual? When I type in the post I do not see the formatting. I see the symbols before and after selected text. This is the html mode. Am I supposed to be on visual? I cannot see either button which are supposed to be to the right of the » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 8:07 pm Thanks again. Two very important links are not available to me. Last week it was the excerpt window. This week it is the Featured Image link. There is something weird going on my end. I sent AdLib the two images from wikimedia that I worked on here for two plus hours. I also submitted the post for review. If this is just my problem then the work around may be as you suggested. I have not had this issue elsewhere but it might have something to do with interface between my computer and word press. I do everything using a Verizon National Access Card and perhaps the issue is there. Don’t know. Appreciate your help. Wish I could give you a raise, or a promotion, or a medal. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 7:40 pm AdLib….just sent you an e mail with the images and a couple of thoughts. Whatever is wrong, is wrong on my end apparently. It may have something do with the nature of the links for “Use as Featured Image” or “Delete” – blue coloration might indicate something. Do not know. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 7:20 pm Kalima….I thank you for your effort and everything goes just as you say until I get to the bottom of the page where there should be two options in blue, “use as Featured Image” and “Delete”. Neither is there. Sorry. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 6:49 pm You wrote: ot it and upon seeing it, I recognized that you’re uploading your image through the Media – Add New menu item instead of the Upload/Insert function within the post. Info above on how to do this, you should be all set! My reply: I am going to the Upload/Insert line after setting my cursor at the opening of my post, and then I click on the first box to the right. I do not even know where the Media-Add new menu is. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 6:34 pm I am going to Kalima’s alternative suggestion and see if that works. I sent you a screen shot of what I am seeing via the e mail. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 6:28 pm My page only goes down to the Link URL options and Insert Into Post. The blue colored “Use as featured image” and “Delete” are not there. I am right there and those images were there last week. I tried clicking in the spaces just in case they were simple washed out, but nope. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 6:26 pm Did just as you said and what I did the last two weeks. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 6:22 pm I just sent you a screen shot of the page at your e mail address: admin@planetpov.com Yes, I am uploading from my computer. Just like I did in the last two weeks. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 5:46 pm Yes, that is what I recall too, but the “Featured Image” widget is not there. The page ends at “Save all changes” The scroll bar at the right of the window is all the way to the bottom. Have tried this yourself today? I suspect you have but I am trying to cover all bases. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 5:41 pm Here is what I am doing. 1) Putting the cursor in the text box in front of the first word. In this case “On”. “Use as Featured Image” is not on the page. » Posted By MurphTheSurf3 On October 23, 2011 @ 5:14 pmComments Posted By MurphTheSurf3
I submitted a story for review. Have not heard back, but I would like to do some editing on it. It passed review by the contributors outside of Planet POV, but events in the last 12-24 hours at several key sites (Oakland, Vancouver, Atlanta) are reshaping the thinking. Might I do this?
Make sure the ‘disable visual editor when writing’ box isn’t ticked.
Again, make sure the ‘disable visual editor when writing’ box isn’t ticked.
I only have access to my profile not to user/admin/edit
