You are in the past and I’m in now and the last few decades, and making the same mistake over and over again because of past history is unforgivable. The U.S. supports Israel financially and militarily with no strings attached, so yes, it deserves the most of the blame for enabling Israel in this bloodshed over the years. I wasn’t talking about the conception or establishing of the state of Israel and have only mentioned it once to answer your question to everyone including me. A reminder of the link I posted on how much America spends on Israel. Israel – living and killing on United States aid http://thepensivequill.am/2014/07/israel-living-and-killing-on-united.html?m=1 So now that everyone involved in the conversation here has given you an answer, it’s your turn. What do you suggest as a solution and does Israel have the right to exist in this way of thievery, destruction and murder? » Posted By Kalima On July 30, 2014 @ 8:52 pm I’m sorry Murph, bringing up the persecution of Jews from ancient times just doesn’t work for me, I was talking from the beginning 70 years ago until now. I have nothing against the people of Israel and wish them well, but their government is evil and greedy filled with cold blooded murderers whom they elected. Someone should have thought more carefully about the consequences of promising Utopia to the first settlers there surrounded on all sides by hostile Arab countries. It makes little sense to me, and please don’t use the word “exile” as a reason or excuse for Israel to continue what it is doing to the Palestinians, or for your government to turn a blind eye to the killing and suffering Israel has caused in the region. You forget that I’m German and already share a lifetime of collective guilt for the crimes against them in my country, so I’m afraid it doesn’t work with me because I have no room left for any more guilt. What about the millions of Palestinian refugees who are forbidden to return to their homeland, Murph? Is that not living in “exile” too? America now needs to feel the guilt for unconditionally supporting a rogue regime who constantly break every international law, and are rarely reprimanded so continue to do as they please even when your government and your tax dollars are enabling this bloodshed. I really don’t have much more to say about this, so you have your opinion, and I have mine, with fuzzy bits in the middle, and that’s fine with me. I will be back to posting my usual updates in the morning. » Posted By Kalima On July 30, 2014 @ 7:18 pm To your last paragraph and the most basic question of all, Murph. Who took what from whom, and how have they been treated since? I see it like this. Strangers come to your house, kill your family, and move in. You try to fight back but no one helps you. You move into another house, they find that too and their friends move in. You move to a poor part of town with the bare necessities, they cut off supply routes, cordon off where you live, attack you, try to kill you and everyone in your neighbourhood when someone gets angry enough to retaliate. To answer your question about establishing the state of Israel in that region, no it should never have happened. What to do about it? Cut the aid until they agree to a peace agreement. If they can’t do that, withdraw all support. Of course America won’t do that, and there lies the problem of ever changing the situation over there. There comes a certain point where you can no longer condone or support a “friend’s” behaviour, and I think this is it. We here can talk about it until we are blue in the face, but until the U.S. starts to condemn them for their brutality the same way as other nations have, all they will ever feel is a slight slap on the wrist. I see no protests in your country to let the government know that this killing cannot be supported. When they say they are going after Hamas and a hundred people are killed, it’s plausible, if you don’t read the headlines. When that number passes 300 and small children are killed, you know that it is a lie and they really want to eliminate everyone. This is a war crime. This is genocide. No excuses are acceptable. » Posted By Kalima On July 30, 2014 @ 3:06 pm Some of the latest reports. Israel – living and killing on United States aid http://thepensivequill.am/2014/07/israel-living-and-killing-on-united.html?m=1 » Posted By Kalima On July 29, 2014 @ 10:29 pm No Murph, Qatar is not the principle funder of Hamas on my list when this was there in my comment. “France has sent more than $3 billion”. Again, some countries call Hamas a terrorist organization, others see it as the duly elected by the people, government of Gaza. AlJazeera gives the Palestinians a voice, I see nothing wrong or biased in that. I have no magic wand to wave to solve this problem except that Israel should hand back all the land they stole from the Palestinians, and destroy the illegal settlements on Palestinian land. Even the stupid and also illegal wall they built, cut through Palestinian olive groves tended for generations, their only livelihood, and people dare to wonder why they hate Israel. It’s easy to blame the Palestinians for wanting to fight back, but just for a moment think how you would be feeling if this were you it was happening to instead. America could stop funding the bloodshed until they get back to the table to discuss a peace agreement. All we hear about is Israel’s right to exist, what about the same rights for the Palestinians? Israel has been dehumanizing them for years. The life of one Israeli child being worth more than the lives of hundreds of Palestinian children. They are herded like livestock into a sliver of land and fenced in. In the West Bank the stealing of land continues, and it’s all against international law. Why should we support that? Years ago I had sympathy for what Israel was going through. Years later my sympathy has been firmly transplanted for those they continue to oppress. I’m not alone in this, and soon Israel will find that the only friend they have left is America, although many more Americans are now saying that what Israel is doing is wrong, and it’s their own neocon government’s fault. Now I really have to stop as I’m having trouble typing. » Posted By Kalima On July 29, 2014 @ 9:33 pm Murph, I have written this at least three times in the last week about the propaganda that Hamas is using women and children as “human shields”, so here it is again. In a strip of land populated by almost 1 million, 900,000 people, the size of which is 139 sq m, where Hamas and their families live, claiming such a thing is ridiculous. Your noting that AlJazeera is owned by those primarily funding Hamas and therefore maybe biased, is also a misconception. Hamas is the legitimately elected government of Gaza, and as such have received funds from many different sources. Here are some. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency, the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, payments going through WorldPay (part of theRoyal Bank of Scotland Group ), the Arab Bank PLC in Gaza and HSBC in Amman, Jordan. The $7 billion to $10 billion that the Palestinian Authority has received since 1993 has come from the European Union, the U.N., the U.S., Saudi Arabia and other Arab League countries. France has sent more than $3 billion. Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz donated $8 million of the more than $26.7 million raised in a national fundraising telethon for the “Relief of the Palestinian People in Gaza.” Qatar, which pledged $50 million when Hamas was elected in 2006, promised to send more. The European Union pledged more than $4 million in “humanitarian aid” to Gaza. In 2008, it provided Gaza with $55.6 million. In addition, European Union member states pledged more than $41 million, including $10.5 million from the British government’s Department for International Development. Japan pledged $10 million, and even terror-struck India said it would send $1 million. Norway has announced a pledge of about $4.5 million, while Australia is adding $3.5 million in addition to the $32 million it gave in 2008. So no, AlJazeera is not stumping for Hamas, it gives us a chance to see the Arab view on what is really going on in the ME, which is more than can be said for America who pamper, protect, fund both monetary and military continuance of the slaughtering of innocents while the world looks on in horror. As for the video, I believe the assault on the Palestinians has little to do with religion and more to do with continuous land grabs by Israel, and the annihilation of a people that Israel thinks is a thorn in its side. Sounds very familiar to me, and should be obvious to anyone who has watched them doing this for decades. It seems that some people never learn from their past history, and become what they have hated for so long. » Posted By Kalima On July 29, 2014 @ 7:15 pm Thanks monicaangela, the author’s name rings a bell but the source was from somewhere else so they must have used this article.
