Hiya Haruko! I agree with you. When I see American-set films and tv shows, there’s never a trace of a wrinkle nor a hint of chubbiness. Magazines go without saying. perfection is so very rare, if it exists at all.

It is and I do. We were a disparate bunch at the best of times so how we all conquered the time diffs and stayed in touch sometimes seems too good to be true. Still, we have this option now and thank goodness for it.

Hiya deygirl, I don’t know you (yet) but allow me to say that there are enough people out there willing to put us down for the way we look/talk/dress/write without us doing it to ourselves. I’m no posterchild for perfection (far from it) but I AM comfortable in my own skin. It’s a pretty big step on the road to self-acceptance. Chin up girl! 🙂

Hiya Abby, thank goodness I’m ‘just’ a guy. Having read your blog I certainly would have thrown in the towel long ago had those kinds of expectations been heaped upon me.

And slightly o/t, I’m truly amazed and gratified at being able to interact with all my friends from another place. It has brightened my day considerably. 🙂

I’ve found PayPal to be the easiest solution Truth. Once you’ve signed up, you simply instruct PP to transfer funds from the account you’ve nominated and they do the conversion and apprise you of the amount in your own currency. All you need is an account with a debit card function – it’s instant and hassle-free.

Thanks for the post zoot. I left a few days ago after nearly two and a half years at HP. I was bone weary at having my on-topic and unoffensive comments removed at the whim of some ‘badged’ flying monkey. This after making it past the moderators on a fully moderated thread. Her loss, really…

Thanks Marion. I too feel that sometimes I’m way behind the curve. Scotland isn’t exactly ‘out of the loop’ but I refuse to watch ‘clips’ of any show because – as another commenter posited – they cleave too closely to the ‘brand’ those shows want to project. I prefer my information presented in full and if possible, unedited. I also get what you’re saying about AH – she seems to have gone back to her republican roots.

Thanks Fi, I was worried about losing all the great folks I met over there and so kept putting it off. Having a perfectly on topic and salient comment deleted without even a notification of its deletion on an already fully-modded thread really got my back up. I didn’t relish having to fight my way through two levels of moderation every time I said something hence my ‘defection’. It’s great to see a fellow Scot here too!
