Displaying 61 To 90 Of 111 Comments Thanks kesmarn! The Planet feels warm. » Posted By FerraKnows On February 10, 2011 @ 8:39 am Thank you escribacat. And I agree with you on all counts. F&F! (hehehe couldn’t resist) » Posted By FerraKnows On February 10, 2011 @ 8:37 am I’m not surprised, but saddened nevertheless. I have lived through Jim Crow, a Great Uncle’s lynching, segregation, discrimination, assassinations, and the civil rights movement. When I think I have seen racism in all of its possible forms, new versions crop up. I feel like I have spent every second of my entire life dealing with the kind of social constructs the majority of our society will never ever face. I learned a long time ago that for me (and folks like me), “life ain’t been no crystal stair.” I’m reminded “It’s had tacks in it, and splinters, and boards torn up, and places with no carpet on the floor—bare,” whenever I hear folks like John Boehner and the tea-bigots say they want their country back. In his and their faces, and subtle remarks, I see a certain kind of aristocracy and privilege; a smugness that spat into my and my family’s soul, when I was a small boy in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. For me, it does not take a screen shot of this fool’s fool to know that racism still exists. His words only serve to remind me, that for some, there is a manifest privilege I (and my children’s children) will never be able to overcome—a social-anthropological hypo-decent that keep us in our place. I see it in every facet of our society, in every form of media—an eternal three-fifths albatross. But, “I’se still climbin,” nonetheless. I continue to pursue what I believe to be the right things to do. I’ve raised two wonderful, highly educated, children. I‘ve worked for companies large and small, as well as my own. However, I would like to have prepared them for the kinds of things this nation is devolving into. The kind of things going on over there on Huffington Post—all cloaked in the first amendment. But, I can’t prepare them. I can’t because, quite frankly, I have never witnessed anything like this—ironically correlating with the election of the country’s first black president. In this regard, I feel sorry for my children, particularly my only son. He joined the United States Marines. And despite our misgivings, he elected to put his life on the line to protect the rights of those who want their country back. I’ll end now. –Excerpts taken from Langston Hughes’ poem, Mother to Son » Posted By FerraKnows On February 10, 2011 @ 7:04 am Mubarak: Half sunk, a shattered visage lies I have no desire to watch Captain G.E.D. (wannabe). He is an insult to every clear-think high-minded person. And that is his good quality! » Posted By FerraKnows On February 10, 2011 @ 5:08 pm You have a wonderful way with words, RL! » Posted By FerraKnows On February 25, 2011 @ 8:41 am I hope you’re correct! » Posted By FerraKnows On February 25, 2011 @ 8:04 am Thanks RL! » Posted By FerraKnows On February 25, 2011 @ 8:03 am Buddy these are wonderful! One word: they are freaking hilarious (okay, maybe more than one word)! My three favorites are: 1) The tea party town-hall Keep ’em coming, and keep up the good work! » Posted By FerraKnows On March 9, 2011 @ 5:44 am Nice. I love argument too. ;o) » Posted By FerraKnows On March 9, 2011 @ 5:18 am Wonderful Redemption! I’ve seen more diversity represented in these slides than I would in a life-time of mainstream media–all mediums. BTW, I’m still working on that project we discussed. If I find anything more, I will pass it along. » Posted By FerraKnows On February 25, 2011 @ 7:55 am Sorry about my description, but I am getting sick of this stuff. This crap happens all the time, and MSM neatly tucks(or excuses) it away. I can hear them now, “He’s just a real American who cares about his country.” eff that! His ass needs to go to jail for treason! If someone said the same thing about S.P., mainstream media would be in an uproar. » Posted By FerraKnows On February 25, 2011 @ 7:32 am It actually happened! » Posted By FerraKnows On February 25, 2011 @ 7:07 am Good morning, All. Does anyone have any information on the ASSHOLE who asked Rep Broun, “who is going to shoot Obama” during a town-hall meeting yesterday? » Posted By FerraKnows On February 25, 2011 @ 6:32 am Just picked up my Chicago Suntimes, where he is on the front page. The byline describes him as the ” . . . college dropout at the center of a national political storm.” The look of privilege graces his smug face. I tell you, the election of the country’s first black president seems to have made so many people nuckin’ futs! » Posted By FerraKnows On February 21, 2011 @ 12:43 pm It’s your world, I’m just in it KB723. Nothing’s “skakin'” at the moment. Watching the events unfold in WI, while trying to contain my emotions. How about you KB? » Posted By FerraKnows On February 21, 2011 @ 12:19 pm Sup, Redemption? » Posted By FerraKnows On February 21, 2011 @ 11:56 am What is it that he can do? » Posted By FerraKnows On February 18, 2011 @ 11:25 amComments Posted By FerraKnows
