Just my two cents worth, but it’s a damn lousy state of affairs in this country that ANYBODY has to “crusade” for these men! What the hell has happened to this country? It’s certainly not the country that I grew up in and not one that I’m particularly proud of! Since when do we abandon these brave men to fend for themselves, sick and dying of terrible illnesses, reduced to shells of their former selves?? Rhetorical questions all, but I hope these are questions that will raise the consciences of people who take much from this society…and give nothing back! You know as well as I do that the rethugs will not give him any victory. They will stall and stone-wall with hearings and committees, watering it down until it’s a mere shell of what he proposed. They can’t help themselves! It’s in their DNA! But this time is different and the repubs know it. The debt ceiling debacle woke up the American people who can see them for what they are trying to do, defeat this President at all costs, including holding us back from recovery. I hope I am wrong, but I fully expect this coming ordeal to end up being decided at the ballot box next year, and I believe I know which way the people will vote. It’s just sad for those who need immediate help. One thing for sure…this is going to be one of the most interesting elections in my life-time! If the rethugs actually allow the President to LEAD by enacting the bill, the economy will improve and they will lose. If they obstruct the President on this bill, they will lose! I went over to TPV this morning but did not see this. I’ve spent the day reading about these people of the NAR…very, very scary crowd! There are lots of links about Sister Sarah’s church, Sen. Sam Brownback, and others tied in with this bunch of loonies. It’s almost impossible to believe that in 2011, we still have people who believe in demons and witches, and people who think that God converses with them directly…AND that their followers are dumb enough to believe it! Here’s a link to one of the articles I read about Perry and the NAR. It has lots of links to other really good information. I also got side-tracked a little with an article about how much money is being spent by the Pentagon to convert soldiers to Christianity, using all kinds of “perks” to get them in, such as vacations, ski trips, and extra privileges. They also have spent a fortune building expensive chapels on military bases, all Christian of course. Soldiers are definitely being pressured to be “saved”. Doesn’t that go against the Constitution and the First Amendment? It would appear that the NAR has infiltrated the military with the Air Force being especially involved…not surprising! IMO, this is something that needs some of that sunshine disinfectant! Again, a big congrats! I did a little calculating for North Carolina…and the numbers are amazing! Not counting tax breaks and payroll tax cuts, North Carolina would receive something in the range of $2,447,000,000 in funding for infrastructure, school construction, teacher and law enforcement retention, and job training programs. And this is immediate help over the first year of the program. This is going to result in a major increase in state income taxes, further boosting the state’s economy, not to mention the increase in sales taxes from the increase in purchases. The AJA would also result in the addition of 283,300 jobs in the state, including some 8,800 jobs for young people who are the hardest hit in this jobs market. This would result in the state’s not having to pay out so much in unemployment benefits…the long term ripple effect. I don’t see how anyone can argue that this would not be a HUGE boost to the North Carolina economy! The repubs are going to argue about paying for this program, but over the long term, how can this NOT pay for itself? If you go to the White House website, you can see the breakdown for your state.
