Kes, you’re right! It’s everywhere!

One point here…why is it that these gerrymandering schemes ONLY seem to benefit the repugs?? You never hear of one that favors the Dems. In fact, I read somewhere that there will be two new House seats in Texas. You can bet they will be repub!

Between gerrymandering, voter suppression, union busting (to limit contributions to Dems), Citizens United, and now changing the way electoral votes are distributed, how in hell are we going to win ANYTHING?? (And that doesn’t take out-right fraud with voting machines and corrupt officials into consideration!)

Do ya’ think ALEC has anything to do with this? DUH!!

Pennsylvania may be the first domino to fall! We really need to keep an eye out on this.

“Mother Jones” has a disturbing article about some repubs’ shenanigans in Pennsylvania to screw with the electoral college votes, making it possible for the President to win the popular vote there but still lose the state’s electoral votes. It’s a little confusing at first, but worth the read.

Good morning, everyone! Bito scored again with a good article on the Twitter, the repubs’ true agenda…absolutely NO intention of helping to create jobs. Somebody let the cat out of the bag for real!

We here at PPOV have known this for a long time. It would be most helpful if the MSM would spread the word a little more! We can use all the help we can get!

Sue, I believe South Korea is 77% Buddhist. That’s what the article said. But yet they still chose a Dominionist as president! How did that happen?

We could potentially be looking at the same thing in 2012! Although I think Perry is a fake and certainly no bible-thumper, he will gladly use them and their votes to get him to the White House! He puts up that fake facade but I don’t buy it! IMO, he’s a crook!!

This is absolutely unbelievable! Rev. Al just told us that Gov. Rick Scott of Florida has said he would refuse $7.5 BILLION in AJA money if it is passed! He’s turning down this money that will only hurt thousands upon thousands of his constituents who desperately need to go to work! I’m sure the roads, rail, and schools are not in any better shape in Florida than they are anywhere else in the US!

What in the name of God is wrong with these people? Scott has an approval rating of 29%…does he really think he is going to raise his poll numbers with a move like this???

Bito, the night of the speech, I got so angry with Ed Schultz on this very subject. He started moaning about the President “cutting” Medicare! I remember screaming at the TV…it’s NOT CUTS, DAMN IT!! I simply do not understand why “reform” gets turned into “cuts” almost automatically whenever the subject comes up for discussion!

I agree with you…there are lots of reforms that can be done to save money and make the program much more efficient! The consolidation of medical records will eventually save billions of dollars over the long term, just as one example.

I notice a lot of green dots on the state of Tennessee. Just FYI, Tennessee is a very “RED” state…I wonder which repub took credit for all that money pouring in!

In my little corner of NC, we actually had some stimulus money here that helped build a terminal/maintenance building for our local mass transit system called Appalcart that serves the University as well as the town of Boone and the county. It was something sorely needed to keep the buses running.

Thank you, dear friend! Your words of condolence are especially kind.

The moral compass of this country IS badly broken. When the President and Vice President can lie, straight-faced, to the American people taking us into war, and getting away with it, something is wrong to our very core.

As I said in another comment, the only good thing about the 24/7 re-hashing of the tragedy is that we are reminded of just how bad they were. I have not given up hope that they will someday be held accountable for their crimes.

Eisenhower tried to warn us in the 50’s about the rise of the military-industrial-complex. The fact that our defense budget is over $700 BILLION when we have hungry children in this country is a perfect example of what is wrong!

The American PEOPLE are a good, generous, hard-working and honest people. It is my hope that others from around the world will recognize that WE THE PEOPLE don’t want this mockery of our democracy and the broken system forced upon us by the MIC and the multi-national corporations…all for the almighty dollar.

If President Obama can win his second term, it is my hope that true change can take place. Let us hope that he will be able to outlaw the corruption that has taken over our government and stop this perpetual war…after he fixes the economy, no small task in itself!

Bush squandered the good will of people from all over the world, from every nation, after 9/11. Let us hope that we can regain that good will. You have given me hope that we can!

Bito, follow the money! Cheney made millions and he was actually the architect from behind the curtains. The MIC did really well…and they still are! Halliburton/KBR went from being a relatively small company to a HUGE multi-national with BILLIONS in no-bid contracts, so generously awarded by the “Dick” in the Vice President’s office. Even now, he makes a small fortune from his speaking fees and the sale of his book, plus TV appearances from any network that will have him. The arrogance of this creep is astounding!

I remember too…sitting at my computer when my daughter called and told me that a plane had just hit the WTC. I too thought it was a terrible accident. I turned on the TV just in time to see the second plane hit the building.

I will never forget that irrational fear that I felt that morning either, knowing that someone from somewhere was attacking my country. I didn’t even know who Osama bin Laden was. I just remember sitting frozen to the spot for the rest of the day.

Kalima, thanks for your kind words. I do agree with you that we do not need to be constantly reminded of the tragedy over and over again. It has been non-stop for the past two days on American TV, practically every channel!

There is no danger that the American people will forget…the MSM will not allow that. They have to pull off the scab on a regular basis.

Bush was a disaster on so many levels. Perhaps the only plus to this coverage is that it reminds us of just how bad he was. Cheney has been on the tube, hawking his book, re-writing history and making NO apologies. Rumsfeld was interviewed this morning too. At least, MSNBC did do a program on the warnings that were ignored. If the people need reminding of anything, it would be that. These incompetent, lying bast*rds should be on trial for war profiteering and crimes against humanity! Don’t get me started!!

Bito, you beat me to the punch! I just finished reading this article and had the same thoughts as you did. The behavior of the Bush administration was consistent in their negligence if nothing else. I really thought that it would hit the fan when Richard Clarke came out with his testimony about the warnings he tried to give them before he was told to shut up about it.

This article confirms what most of us have known for a long time.

According to the story, no one has ever taken responsibility for his “kidnapping” and no remains have ever been found. However, his briefcase and $40k in cash were found in his car…things that make you go Hmmmm…!

“Never, never, never, never” have I seen any more maudlin piece of fear mongering! I don’t think I know anyone who wants to see this constant loop of the planes hitting the buildings over and over again. Yes, Herman…we got it already! Do we really need four “nevers”?

And the picture of the presumed dead fireman being carried out of the wreckage…pitiful, but where is Congress when these men contracted cancer from working on the pile??

I, for one, will be so glad when September 12th arrives and all this will be over for another year.

Adonai, I’m really surprised to hear that. (I’m not watching today as I usually do.) Fareed is most often spot on and I don’t know why he would be soft on Rummy. Maybe he just gave up on getting an honest answer from him which, we all know, ain’t gonna’ happen.

I’m still waiting to hear what’s going to happen on the Rumsfeld civil suit for the torture of two US citizens that has been approved by a Federal Appeals Court.
