Time Out for O/T – Vol. 17

CL, MY BAD!! I just couldn’t see the forests for the snakes..er trees! 🙂

Those critters are starting to prey on people’s pets and little kids, never mind the 6 ft. alligators…but the good Lord knows, we can’t have any of those damn regulations and stifling interstate commerce!

How could Kes and I been so blind?

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 9:49 pm

CL, I just this minute left Amazon and it IS NOT available in any form. It says it is not available for customers in the United States…just the people who need to read it.

I could not find it in hardbound or paperback either.

I also could not find a place to email them. Too big to mail??? 🙂

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 9:41 pm

CL, I just left Amazon and it was not available in the US for Kindle. This is the first time that it has even been listed on the site. I have looked for it several times, thinking that it was just taking them a while to get it ready for Kindle.

This is hard to believe! I’m going back and send an email or something!

Kes, Ed had the mayor on there tonight also. The crowd was not happy with him and several called for his replacement. I didn’t catch all the mayor’s comments…got a phone call in the middle. Ed did give him a pretty hard time though. The mayor cited money problems for his decisions.

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 9:04 pm

Kes, ROTFLMAO!!! This is priceless! I now believe I’ve heard it all! I am definitely liking Elijah Cummings! 🙂

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 9:00 pm

Yeah! I can’t wait! This guy is as crooked as a rattlesnake! That little phone call from a fake Koch brother last spring showed his true colors. His days are numbered anyway! Can you say “RECALL”??

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 8:55 pm

Adlib, I hope you didn’t drink the water down there! It could be contagious! 🙂

Glad you’re back! Now we’re going to have to be on our best behavior!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 8:21 pm

Bito does it again…where else can you get information about regulations on pythons hurting the economy??? Seriously!!

http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=04F59EC8-DDB8-49C8-93A1-8F09E3F40EC5

If this weren’t so serious (at least in Florida), it would be hilarious!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 8:16 pm

Hey Alpha, do you get 72 virgins too??? Send us a postcard! LMAO 🙂

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 8:10 pm

Oh crap, Adlib! My comment ended up in the wrong place again! Sorry!

Adlib, where ya’ been?? I haven’t seen you around for a couple of days! Maybe I just missed you when I was online. But anyway, I missed you! 🙂

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 8:03 pm

KT, apparently there is another prisoner scheduled to be put to death…is it tomorrow?? Not sure which day, but I know it’s soon. Perry could get some good PR by staying this one, but I would bet that he’ll hold the hard line and let it happen.

UPDATE: Sorry this is from HP, but the day is tomorrow. There are so many that it’s hard to keep track!

Kes, she was basically talking about the worsening situation there and her support of the President jobs bill. I have always liked her. She seems like the “real thing”!

Ed has shown a lot of footage of boarded up buildings in Toledo. It is really sad to see. Apparently, the Chinese are buying up property there. I guess they are the only ones with any money!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 7:48 pm

Hey Kes, Marcy Kaptur is on Ed Schultz’s show right now! He is doing his show tonight from Toledo.

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 7:22 pm

Sue, I certainly hope she does not ignore the warnings! I was stunned to see this today. The Dominionists actually have a president of a country! It makes Perry’s rise in the polls really scary!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 7:14 pm

Believing in reincarnation as I do, you may have been my mom in a past life…or I could have been your brother! 🙂

Stranger things have happened! LOL

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 6:49 pm

Boy, do we really need some infrastructure repair!

http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110915/ap_on_re_us/us_border_crossing_accident

All jokes aside, I hope all the people involved are OK.

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 6:45 pm

Hey KT! After the response to Perry’s execution record in Texas, why would any of us be surprised? These are some very SICK people!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 6:41 pm

Sue, LMAO! I can’t believe this! I posted this same thing from Mother Jones just this morning! We’re still on the same page, sistah! 🙂

BTW, Rachel Maddow just did a segment on her show about this outrage! They will try to steal the election by any means possible!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 6:33 pm

Cher, you’re absolutely right!

Republicans don’t care if you don’t have a job!

Republicans don’t care about the poor!

Tax Cuts DO NOT CREATE JOBS!

I can sit here and think of probably hundreds of talking points for the Dems!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 6:31 pm

Here’s another fake bible-thumper!

http://www2.godanriver.com/news/2011/sep/14/16/liberty-university-host-presidential-hopeful-perry-ar-1308540/

Rick Perry appeared today at Liberty University and thumped his bible for them, pandering to the RW fundamentalists. It was totally nauseating!

He may be climbing into bed with the Christian RW and the Dominionists, but he is doing it for the money! We all know what that makes him!! I would bet my last dollar that he is a very different man in private. When does the dirty laundry come out? I cannot believe that he is that “squeaky clean”!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 6:12 pm

Cher, it’s control of the message…or a lack thereof! I’ve been complaining about this for a long, long time! The repubs are so good at getting their message out, repeating talking points over and over until the sheep believe them. The Dems just kinda’ roll over and take it!

I agree with you…I am so frustrated! But there is a ray of light. Today, several Dem Congressmen held a presser on the steps of the Capitol and it got pretty heated. They are fired up on this Jobs bill. And the President has done a “180” too. He is coming out strong in his speeches and getting a little bump in the polls too. He’s calling out the repubs and holding their feet to the fire! It’s great to see!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 6:02 pm

Bito, no offense, but who gives a sh*t??? If this story could be verified somehow, that would really set the Christian RW on fire! Now that I would like to see! Sarah’s a fake bible-thumper and should be called out on it!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 5:54 pm

Bito, thanks for posting this. Sometimes I think we here at PPOV are preaching to the choir. Will anybody else see it? Rhetorical question…why is it that we Democrats have such a hard time getting OUR message out? The repubs don’t seem to have the same problem.

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 4:49 pm

Perry is simply a bully and a brute! There’s nothing else you can say!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 4:04 pm

OMG!! Rand Paul just jumped the shark! On the floor of the Senate he said:

“Sure the rich are getting richer, but the poor are getting richer at the same time!”

Dear God in heaven, what is wrong with these people?? I cannot believe anyone would make a statement like this on a day when the poverty numbers show 1 in 6 Americans lives beneath the level!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 3:09 pm

MSNBC is reporting:

Students’ SAT scores the LOWEST on record…down 3 points in reading and 1 point in math!

Very discouraging!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 11:13 am

Thanks, CL! Un-American to the core, but also inhumane! They would, no doubt, treat their house pets better than their fellow man!

How did we come to this?

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 10:51 am

CL, cognitive dissonance??

It occurs to me that even some animals take care of their own. The elephants mourn their dead and all of them in the “family” actively participate in the raising of the young. I thought that our capacity for empathy and compassion was one of the things that sets us apart from the animals. For these people, I have to question whether they are evolved as much as the elephants are.

The comments under the article are pretty disgusting!

» Posted By Emerald1943 On September 14, 2011 @ 10:17 am

Khirad, I was appalled at the comments following the article! What ever happened to “Do unto others…”? I thought they wanted us to believe that this is a “Christian” nation. It is doubly hard to believe that a medical doctor would subscribe to this hard-hearted philosophy.

The audience response during the debate the other night was very telling. Can you imagine if everyone in the country felt like that? I am thankful that everyone I know is kind and compassionate! Guess I don’t know any libertarians…and I’m glad I don’t!

For anyone who hasn’t had time to read “The Daily Planet” today, Cher has provided some good information about a new website launching today. It’s called AttackWatch.com and it is being set up by “Obama For American” or OFA.

The main purpose is to combat the lies and distortions by the repubs against President Obama, a full-time job no doubt. Here is the info that Cher included:

——————————————-

Jim Messina, Campaign Manager Obama for America

“If you’re someone who cares about seeing a campaign focused on substance between now and November 2012, I need you to become a part of one of our most important teams.

It’s called AttackWatch.com, and it launches today.

Here’s the deal: We all remember the birth certificate smear, the GOP’s barrage of lies about the Affordable Care Act, and the string of other phony attacks on President Obama that we’ve seen over the past few years.

There are a lot of folks on the other side who are chomping at the bit to distort the President’s record. It’s not a question of if the next big lie will come, just when — and what we’re prepared to do about it.

AttackWatch.com is exactly what it sounds like: a resource that allows us to nip these attacks in the bud before they show up on the airwaves and in emails — and then fight back with the truth.

By signing up, you’ll be on the front lines — you’ll hear about false claims as soon as they come up, and we’ll count on you to spread the truth to your friends and personal networks and let us know about new smears whenever you hear them.

Will you sign up now to be a part of AttackWatch.com?

Yes, I want to be on the team that fights back.

I remember the smears from 2008 well, and I’m sure you do, too.

They didn’t just attack Barack Obama and Joe Biden. They went after everything this movement is built on, and everyone who supports it.

This time, they’re not just out to personally attack the President — they’re also out to mislead Americans about the record of accomplishments that he’s compiled. Just the other day, a Republican financier actually quoted Saddam Hussein in telling a group of millionaire donors that defeating President Obama will be “the mother of all wars.”

We’re launching AttackWatch.com today to make sure we’re ready for the attacks we know are coming — and armed with the ability to fight back quickly.

Sign up for AttackWatch.com now, and let’s get the facts out:”

———————————————

The site is up and running. I’ve just signed up and hope you all will do the same.

ADDENDUM: http://www.AttackWatch.com Sorry I forgot to put a working link in. Thanks!
Thanks!
