I would love to be wrong about this but I’ve lost faith. In the past couple of weeks, we have seen such an increase in the attacks, both verbal and physical, on the Occupy people. Just take out the name “Palin” and insert any one of the other repub candidates, like Cain for instance. “You have to understand how things work in a closing society in order to understand “Palin Power.” A gang or cabal seizes power, usually with an affable, weak figurehead at the fore. Then they will hold elections — but they will make sure that the election will be corrupted and that the next affable, weak figurehead is entirely in their control. Remember, Russia has Presidents; Russia holds elections. Dictators and gangs of thugs all over the world hold elections. It means nothing. When a cabal has seized power you can have elections and even presidents, but you don’t have freedom.” This is what worries me about our elections. I asked the question about it…if a mayor of a major city calls Homeland Security or the FBI and asks for tactical advice/assistance, what obligation does DHS have to provide it? Is there a legal obligation? Who at DHS or the FBI makes the decision to give assistance? Is it just some bureaucrat making that call? It would appear that there was a concerted and coordinated attack on a number of sites at almost the same time. Too many to be coincidence IMO. All were done with over-powering police force, all in the middle of the night, and all destroyed camp equipment and arrested any dissenting protesters. All done nice and neat…and quickly! Since the mayor of Oakland let the cat out of the bag about her call with 18 other cities, it certainly would appear that is was coordinated. I have very serious doubts that the Federal government ORDERED the actions, but it surely looks like somebody told the police departments how to pull it off in the most effective way. I’ve been watching the TV coverage of New York and the march toward the Brooklyn Bridge tonight. There are literally thousands of people in the streets, streaming in that direction! The aerial pictures are simply amazing! Somebody made a really good call to time this march when people were getting off work and could participate. I’ve been multi-tasking, reading your article and flipping channels. I just realized that I had an overwhelming sense of pride and admiration for those people that are putting it on the line in the streets tonight! The feeling was reinforced as I read your post. Even a good dog will bite when it’s kicked! The American people have been kicked for years. Homes lost to bankers’ scams, jobs shipped out of country for cheap labor, neighborhoods and schools crumbling, wages declining, and all we get from our “leaders” are lies, lies, and more lies! They give lip-service to caring about the people, but all they really care about is the next election and holding on to their perceived power. In my opinion, our “leaders” are making a fatal mistake. They ignore the people at their peril! Today, I believe we have finally seen the REAL beginning of Occupy Wall Street. I am so encouraged by the surge of people who have come out in the cold to make their voices heard! Tonight, even the talking heads are saying that the OWS movement is here to stay and that it will only grow as the government tries to suppress it. I’d have to say it’s about time that they realized it! The destruction of the camps was devastating to the protesters, I’m sure. But this may be to their advantage. Taking down the camps because of “health and safety issues” will remove the MSM’s negative story line that has had such a detrimental effect on public opinion. If the camps no longer exist, they have nothing else to talk about…except possibly the reasons for the protests to begin with, which is where the emphasis should be. While I applaud the goals that you have listed here, some of them are quite broad…for instance, “Stop the extraction of American capital.” I see the point and completely agree with it, but how?
