Displaying 0 To 0 Of 0 Comments Pat Buchannan is a bigot, with an avuncular style that Tweety and Morning Joke seem to love. In the end, no matter how knowledgeable or affable a person may appear, if they are as bigoted as Pat, they reveal their essential stupidity. Oh, and he’s also a Holocaust denier. (that can be Googled, but I’m sure you are aware, Sue.) » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 2:02 pm KY, I strongly believe we have to keep a very vigilant eye on these guys–they have a plan for education that could change everything in future generations. They are very clever, and most people aren’t paying attention. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 12:11 pm Food, it is! And what I really love about it is that I am old enough to remember that in the 60’s, colleges had the very same teach-ins to explain the Vietnam war. I was actually too young to fully understand what Vietnam was all about, and those teach-ins made me an activist. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 12:09 pm Doublespeak! These idiots seem so anachronistic, don’t they? They just seem like the dying bastions of the last century, and so silly, so I understand your urge to pat them on their empty pathetic little heads. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 12:02 pm Em, No. Carolina must have some pretty smart voters if they elected Bev Purdue, and I hold onto that. Like you, I am intensely interested in education. It is one of the pillars of any democracy, along with the media and voting rights. If I had to boil down ALL my many concerns about our country, I’d have to say those three are the most vital. Bito put up that Karl Rove piece yesterday and I forgot to give him a Shout-Out! I wrote to the media and told them that this time should be their lead story. This must be known by everyone! » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 11:59 am Foodchain and Em– Love you, but you both have it a bit backwards. You guys–and actually ALL people on the Planet– are so well-informed that it’s a challenge to find items you HAVEN’T seen. By the time I’m ready to put up the DP, I have seen most of my articles already posted somewhere here! It’s such a joy to be part of a group of the smartest people anywhere. But it’s also a curse, in a way, isn’t it? Because it drives us all kinda crazy when we see how ignorant most people seem to be. We all read the news and think to ourselves, WTF? » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 11:54 am Slo-motion video PROVES that OPD threw flash-bang grenade into crowd as people tried to help injured vet:
» Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 5:44 pm HAHAHAHAHAHAH! I think we should do a series of spin-offs for every loser caucus: Someone chomping a Double-Down from KFC Smoking crack Drinking Thunderbird Hoarders for Cain! Drop-outs for Cain! Pedophiles for Cain! I have 32 unpaid parking tickets for Cain! You get the idea… » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 3:01 pm KT that line was the best: ““Mighty fine bird you got there mam, cock-a-doodle-doo!” The whole thing is so weird, plays on so many memes, and is so twisted. And again, that slow, leering smile at the end! It’s like he’s saying, “Hey there, Suckers!” » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 1:56 pm AdLib–it’s just gobsmacking. I mean–as KT and others noted–it’s a Freudian goldmine. Incomprehensible, but as I think about this ad and the new one, there is a strong appeal to middle-aged and older white guys in the working class. Why choose such an old has-been actor as the “hero?” Same with Cancer Man. I bet soon someone above my pay grade will analyze this ad and find all sorts of dog-whistles. Since I’m not a dog though, I just baffled–and freaked. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 1:53 pm AdLib, Colbert is a freaking genius. That 12 sec. smile of his is really masterful! BTW, Don’t know if you caught this Monday, but you HAVE TO see this Cain ad from August:
» Posted By Chernynkaya On October 26, 2011 @ 1:10 pm New parody of the Herman Cain ad, which is itself a parody of a campaign I guess. But this dude nails the real reason for the Cain candidacy (H/T Political Carnival): » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 7:11 pm we would be neighbors then, Sue. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 4:23 pm Awesome, Sue! But to add to your conclusion below, WE will be “The Biggest Losers” if any of these feces gets elected. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 4:08 pm As adtnext mentioned, these Wacks are indeed ripe for TV. But since they bare no resemblance to even faux reality shows, they should resurrect some classics and put their own drooling spin on them. Wack Street Blues Wackyme Street 21 Wack Street Word on the Wack Street Homicide Life on the Wack Street Unfortunately, The Gong Show will not be resurrected, as Chuck Barris is now Secretary of State. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 3:57 pm I mean, it’s true: You just can’t make this stuff up! I don’t think The Onion or SNL could do a better parody. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 4:06 pm Sue, I found so much of the reporting on BofA to be unhelpful and uninformative. I agree with your adviser though–I’ve certainly never seen the FDIC have to pay depositors. This is all way above my pay grade, but it seems to me that they will certainly find investors rather easily. What the above article pointed out was that Yves was using info BEFORE Dodd-Frank, and that’s awfully bad reporting. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 10:51 am Em, I do want to work on many aspects of voting! After this election–once Obama wins–I expect to see the enemy try many more kinds of voter disenfranchisement and we’d better be ready! » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 10:45 am That ad is so wrong on so many levels it would take Dr. Freud himself to analyze. Talk about subliminal! » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 10:43 am Em, the candidates running are a disgrace to our country. It’s humiliating to see that this is even taken seriously by the press. But as I’ve said before, it’s not even these ridiculous candidates that sicken me; it’s that a large percentage of Americans would vote for them! To me that is worse because it’s one thing that there are a few idiotic and despicable clowns in the nation, and quite another that these morons are taken seriously and LIKED by so many. THAT is the national shame. It upsets me so much that I loathe so many people in my own country. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 10:41 am Khirad, that “KochCain coverage” line is pretty brilliant! » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 10:36 am Khirad– HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh what art! It’s the entomology dance. I loved it!! You are too young to remember, but Mike Myers did a series of qweird skits on SNL called “Sprockets” featuring Deiter, who was a Berlin avant gardist. Here’s his show: » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 25, 2011 @ 9:58 am Gosh, Khirad–did I hoist myself on my own petard?! Did I do what I piss and moan about–re-post a piece that you did? I really and deeply apologize!! That piece about the NYPD was nicely reported. Harkin didn’t try to come to any big conclusions based on a few interviews but as you know, once the military or the cops refuse to arrest the protesters, we’ve won. It pays to try to be as reasonable towards them as possible. I don’t know if you saw it, but Javaz posted a different item about Scarborough below. It must be embarrassing to admit one is a Repub these days! Not that I give a fuck. But you’re right–it’s a barometer. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 7:21 pm Hey, Girl–great to see you! » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 6:08 pm Agrippa, music to my ears, friend. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 6:05 pm Foodchain–“discuss instead of percuss” is terrific! And so are you. I’m glad you brought up the headline issue, because I fall into that too. That’s one of the reasons I usually put the whole or main parts of the articles up–so I’ll read them! 😆 » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 6:04 pm I think it’s better than a wash–I bet they make a ton. In Iowa alone in 2008 over $52 MILLION was spent on advertising just for the Iowa Caucus. In 2008 $3 BILLION was spent nationally. I am not sure, but I don’t think the Corps. who own the media outlets gave that much to campaigns. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 3:53 pm Sabreen, you are a peach! Thanks so much. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 2:59 pm Javaz yes, that’s what happens. The stations that air the ads get paid for the air time. (I’m so old I remember when stations had to provide air time for political ads for free as a public service.) But lots of other people get paid: the ad agencies who produce the ads, the political consultants who decide which markets in which to run the ads, any actors in them, any music they use has royalties, and probably a bunch of stuff I haven’t thought of. I am sure that this is only a small reason that corporate media doesn’t want campaign finance reform. » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 2:57 pm Oh, dear javaz– I didn’t mean to make you read and comment on so many stories!! That WSJ piece is just so freaking clueless. It was actually written with a straight face! As if we are to feel sorry for those obscene people. Keep it up, 1%, and your fate will make Gaddafi’s seem humane. We are essentially not different people as those alive during the French Revolution–it could happen again. But please–don’t take notes! I’d hate to think that Daily Planet was anything but enjoyable. Still, many thanks! » Posted By Chernynkaya On October 24, 2011 @ 11:15 amComments Posted By Chernynkaya
In which the Republican Wacks try to enforce the law without paying the cops’s salaries and forcing them to buy their own guns, bullets and Kevlar vests. Hilarity ensues.
In which the Wacks home school toddlers and reinforce all racial stereotypes; Big Bird is the Government, Bert and Ernie are jailed for sodomy, and Oscar the Grouch is Mayor. The only people of color are the criminals and the alphabet is banned as socialist indoctrination. The Count really is Dracula and learning numbers results in exsanguination.
All the Wacks have face lifts and form a squad of youthful-looking undercover officers investigating crimes in high schools, colleges, and other teenage venues. They root out fornication, force teen moms to give birth and then refuse Food Stamps, make arrests for possession of contraceptives, and encourage date rape.
A show for the 1% investors who want daily tips on squeezing more blood from the 99% stones.
Similar to Wack Street Blues, but in Baltimore.
