But something occurred to me late last night: Until Obama’s Presidency, I wasn’t waiting for HC reform– just lamenting our terrible system. The fact is, for me, I had no concrete expectations until it became part of the agenda. Now, it’s the most important legislation I can think of. And I think that brings up the issue of Great Expectations. So much was hoped for and expectations were raised so high, I doubt they will be possible to meet. (Cold comfort, because they are needed!)I wonder how different this period would seem if Obama had stated more “modest” goals, such as financial reform and jobs programs.
