Where the hell didja find that game?! » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 21, 2012 @ 8:03 pm That’s the one I was going to pick, KT!! » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 21, 2012 @ 8:02 pm Sally, I clicked on your link and it said “page not available.” π But I did get to see E’cat’s adorable doggy–with those ears in a bow!! » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 22, 2012 @ 11:19 pm π Sally, mine too! Seriously, I thought I’d killed my trusty laptop. I have a bad habit of keeping so many tabs open at once, so sometimes the poor little lappy just collapses under the “weight” of them all and gives up. Until last night, I’d just reboot and close some tabs. But when I tried it virtually wheezed, coughed, and sighed before going dark. Fortunately, my son could work on it from his computer, and he conquered that bastard virus. I think that because I open so many sites, it’s more likely that I get infected. But I don’t really understand any of that. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 22, 2012 @ 10:51 pm Hey guys! I just came back from my son’s where he spent hours cleaning my computer. Last night about midnight, as I was just putting the Daily Planet together, some repulsive virus crashed my computer. I thought it was a goner. But hallelujah! It lives! Anyway, fingers crossed, I’ll resume DP Saturday. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 22, 2012 @ 10:20 pm Hey, you! I want one that declares I’m a SLUT. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 20, 2012 @ 8:34 pm Bito, it’s so good to see you! So very glad. I’ve been on hiatus but before I left I was missing you. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 20, 2012 @ 8:31 pm C’Lady, I’m chuckling–it’s true! Listen, Orthodox Fundie Jews (yes, even among the Orthodox there are several sects and levels of crazy, as you well know) don’t consider me Jewish, nor any Conservative or Reform Jew. We’re essentially goyim. And in one of our most treasured books, a mystical text written by the first Lubavitcher Rebbe, there is a curse on the frontpage. It excoriates the heretics, the liars, the damned. It spits on them in florid terms. And who does it refer to? Why, the Rabbi in the next shtetl! π » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 20, 2012 @ 5:17 pm Oh Wow! Happy Birthday!! You and hubster are almost twins–his was the 15th. What is it about the worst, most fanatical sects of religions (Orthodox Jews, Opus Dei) who ally with the worst of Christianity: Dominionists? On the surface, I think I just answered my own question! But actually, these sects are nothing if not dogmatic, yet their respective dogmas don’t mesh. Does their devotion to hatred and authoritarianism trump their dogmas? Or, are they really blind to their mutual treachery and instead cynically form alliances to meet their evil ends? I can’t speak for Opus Dei, but I can tell you unequivocally that fundamentalist Orthodox Jews don’t fundamentally consider Christians fully human. Yet they work together. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 20, 2012 @ 4:44 pm Interesting observation about the paintings. Yeah, Western art reflects Western society: White. Even though polls show what voters–even Repub voters–want, the Baggers who were elected in 2010 don’t care. They don’t care if they are re-elected either. They are in office to enact radical RW legislation that will take years to overturn, and they are betting that in those ensuing years they can move the country even further Right. Santorum, for example–in my opinion he is not really trying to get elected. His crusade is to keep RR talking points on the airwaves until, after much repetition, the sheeple get used to those ideas and the conversation shifts. Statements and ideologies that just 20 years ago would have been horrifying are now part of the national dialogue. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 20, 2012 @ 12:38 pm Sue, was “Lady Rothchild” a pseudonym for Whorianna? Or Hamster? Could have been said by either of those frauds. π » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 20, 2012 @ 12:31 pm Hey, AdLib, it’s great to be back. I have so much catching up to do on the Planet! That Edsell piece on polarization was wonky but really informative. It looks like as long as people actually vote, we’ll be in pretty good shape. As the article points out, elections are won on the margins–every vote really does count! I was reading a NYT’s post today about Santorum which said he’s a follower of some frenzied Spanish Opus Dei priest. I don’t believe that–he has all the hallmarks of a Dominionist. Not that Opus Dei is exactly moderate, but something doesn’t add up–especially after seeing that video. And BTW, I wrote to MSNBC telling them to stop using Tony Perkins as the spokesdick for Christians. The GOP lamitude on Obama’s War on Women is funny. I think at this point they are ONLY playing to their rabid base and have given up trying to reach voters who don’t require straight jackets and helmets. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 20, 2012 @ 12:26 pm LIVE BLOG – Super Tuesday 2012 Oh hey, kes! I’m very glad Kaptur won, although probably not a thrilled as you, just because I’m not in Ohio. I was so rooting for her. And the fact that she will be running against Joe the Plunger in the general is icing on the cake. I am not at all sure that Kuchinich could win against that turd. In a funny way the Kaptur/Wertzlebacher race is a microcosm of the Presidential race: a towering redwood against a weed. It’s an insult to her that she even needs to deign to debate him. But good for us! » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 11:03 pm Sue, I know, right? HAH. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 10:12 pm David Axelrod: “Mitt squeaks by in Ohio behind a blizzard of negative ads, once again persuading a bare plurality that he is not as bad as the other guy.” OK, it’s Axelrod, but really, the consensus is what you and others have been saying: How can Mitt beat Obama if he can’t decisively beat junior varsity? » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 10:00 pm Sally HAHAHAHAHAHA! » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:51 pm “Myeah, where’s your Moses now?” π » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:48 pm From looking around the web, nobody is saying this was a real win for Romney. In fact, it’s devastating. heh. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:45 pm Guess who the Repub is who Kaptur is running against now: Joe the Plumber! » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:44 pm Yes, and they’ve always been among us. I think that’s just kind of the human condition–they ebb and flow, but it’s just part of humanity. I don’t even think it’s a particularly American, or Western phenomenon. I bet in every culture, there are these fearful, authoritarian types. Also, because I have always lived in liberal CA, I never come in contact with these people so they seem so alien to me. If I grew up elsewhere, as so many Planeteers have taught me, I wouldn’t be so shocked. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:37 pm OK, NBC calling it for Romney, “Apparently” they said. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:32 pm Spot on, C’Lady. That’s how to win the blue collar vote. We won’t change their socially conservative views. Never happens. But they can be brought along through their pocketbooks. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:31 pm Seriously. How small of him–figuratively and literally. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:29 pm I love that “lemon sucker,” C’Lady. Yeah, I’ll take a moderate and pragmatic Dem over an ideologue any day. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:27 pm Kuchinich lost and I see that he’s refusing to congratulate Kaptur; he says she ran a campagin “that was utterly lacking in integrity.” » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:19 pm My favorite zombie movie, funk. » Posted By Chernynkaya On March 6, 2012 @ 9:10 pmComments Posted By Chernynkaya
