For those interested, I dressed up as this for Halloween:

Thanks, kes. I meant to put up another post explaining the outcome and my thoughts on it, but I’ve had a rather hectic few days, mid-term assignments and costume making. I might put it up in a day or so.

Everything’s well and fun. Thanks for asking, kes!

Dear Lord, what were they thinking!? A mustached man smoking at a camera? Herman Cain smiling, after an awkward pause? Unfitting music? This is self-parody.

We got a months rain in 24 hours yesterday. That’s not an exaggeration, I’m being literal.

Amazing! I love technology.

Ha! The whole song is sung in slang with an exaggerated accent. It’s a rather goos satire, I think.

Well, I though this was funny. A very Irish kind of humour though.

» Posted By Caru On October 21, 2011 @ 1:13 pm

That’s nice. I hope it stays that way.

What is with the current obsession with powerpoint? I hate the thing.

» Posted By Caru On October 19, 2011 @ 3:23 pm

Exactly.

The problem is that it’s cheaper to buy off politicians.

» Posted By Caru On October 19, 2011 @ 1:38 pm

Unfortunately, you’re right, Cher. The problem, IMO, is profit maximisation. This is what leads goods made in countries that respect human rights to be dearer than those made in countries that don’t.

IMO, profit maximisation – which is often a short-term, short-sighted goal – needs to be de-emphasised in favour of the long-term well-being and growth of companies.

True, but it seems that this study has just confirmed something that’s been going on for a while now.

» Posted By Caru On October 17, 2011 @ 2:06 pm

It’s typical, isn’t it?

» Posted By Caru On October 17, 2011 @ 1:45 pm

I thought that they were joking when they called it a clown college!

» Posted By Caru On October 17, 2011 @ 11:55 am

He’s a modern day Tiberius.

I have managed to teach myself to juggle. It’s not long-lasting and entirely without grace, but everything starts somewhere.

And they say we don’t learn anything while in college. 😉

I don’t doubt it, KT. 😉

One of the main topics in our Viking module is about Viking women. The lecturer says that they’ve been sorely understudied.

Bring ’em down.

» Posted By Caru On October 13, 2011 @ 2:59 pm

*gasp*

Don’t even think that!

» Posted By Caru On October 13, 2011 @ 2:57 pm

Pretty good, aside from the near-comatose state induced by a certain unnamed lecturer. (X_X)

Economics is very interesting. Graphs for all!

History is also pretty interesting. The modules are “The World of the Vikings” and “Europe: 1750-1875”.

I’ve also learned that programming is quite fun, especially when your demonstrator is slightly unhinged.

Good luck!

» Posted By Caru On October 13, 2011 @ 2:21 pm

I hate integration…

» Posted By Caru On October 13, 2011 @ 1:30 pm

I’ve never been able to make heads or tails about it.

» Posted By Caru On October 3, 2011 @ 1:03 pm

Is this the final, final verdict?

» Posted By Caru On October 3, 2011 @ 12:44 pm

That is a great slogan.

» Posted By Caru On October 3, 2011 @ 12:41 pm

When I was younger, I used to think that they spray-painted the eggs white on some of the advertisements.

That is interesting. Solar seems to generate more economic activity because it involves production and manufacturing to a much greater degree than coal.
