Jack Cashill (author of the book “Deconstructing Obama” and frequent guest of FOX News,) has recently published a new conspiracy theory about the President on World Net Daily. He claims that this photo of young Barack Obama and his grandparents in New York is a forgery: He says THIS is the original photograph: There’s lots of things to laugh at about this, like the fact that the second picture still has Obama’s knee in between his grandparents, and the obvious repetition of the background pattern on the right of the photo. If these researchers are right, and there IS a physiological difference between the brains of liberals and conservatives, then I would think that people are not BORN with those differences. Instead, I would think that the ideology of the individual affects that individual’s brain, and causes it to develop differently. People do change and grow, after all. Smooth editing, simple points articulated by a short, succinct script, and all of it presented over a subtle, yet menacing soundtrack. Fantastic production values in this; it looks expensive. Very talented people put this together and that kind of talent doesn’t usually come cheap. I’m sitting here struggling to think of anyone I know who wouldn’t be nodding his head at this commercial. The more this airs, the more people will be influenced by it. Of course, one could easily debunk the falsehoods delivered by this message. Such debunking might take the form of a pair of columns, one titled “Fact” and the other “Fiction.” Almost everything presented in this commercial could be disproven by evidence-based arguments. But that would hardly be as influential as this commercial. A dry, boring list of facts verses this emotionally-charged, expertly-crafted presentation? Good luck to that. Many people realize that Commercial Art isn’t the same thing as Fine Art, and that the Commercial Music that one hears on the Top-40 radio isn’t as good as something more sincere.
